Jaquan asked, “What? Want to watch?”
Callie opened her mouth but wasn’t sure if she could handle such a scene. Besides, she didn’t want to show too much concern for Nelson in front of him, so she shook her head.
The noise on the other end continued, as if someone was trying to take Nash away. He struggled loudly and suddenly, there was a thud, the sound of someone kneeling on the ground.
Nash cried out, “Nelson… Nelson, please save my dad, save the Blair family.”
Callie closed her eyes. She understood the feelings of these second-generation heirs. With the protection of their elders, they never had to struggle and lived a life of luxury. When their world collapsed, kneeling down to beg was a huge blow to their pride.
Jaquan played with the porcelain cup in his hand and smiled playfully.
“You know, the Blair family and the Oconnor family used to live in the same villa complex. Among all the kids, Nelson liked Nash the most. Whether it was playing or studying, Nash was always his first choice. Nash is a playboy who never listened to his father; he only listened to Nelson.”
His description was concise, and Callie could picture it. The last time at Kenker Hotel, Nash’s behavior also showed his reliance on Nelson.
“Unfortunately, he was naive and didn’t realize that every gift comes with a price tag,” Jaquan poured himself another cup of tea. “Nelson never does anything without a reason. His actions were all part of a plan, even for today.”
Larry was the head of the Blair family and a key figure in Ylosea. There were few weak points, and Nash was the only one. Nelson saw this opportunity years ago and took him under his wing, only to discard him when necessary.
Every step was meticulously planned.
Callie’s back felt cold. Such cunning and strategy were beyond most people’s reach.
Finally, a voice came from next door. Nelson said calmly, “I can’t interfere with judicial procedures. Go back.”
Nash collapsed, his eyes filled with despair.
At this moment, Jaquan stood up, crossed his hands in front of him, and strolled out leisurely.
“I wondered why it was so noisy outside. Turns out Nelson is here.”
Nelson looked up, “Jaquan?”
Jaquan leaned lazily against the doorframe, “Not welcoming me?”
His gaze swept around, “Oh, isn’t this our Nash? Why are you sitting on the ground? Stand up.”
Nash was numb and couldn’t move.
Jaquan squatted down, patted Nash’s shoulder, straightened his clothes, and said lightly, “What’s this? A man should stay calm in the face of trouble. You need to learn from Nelson. When the Oconnor family fell, their situation wasn’t much different from yours now. Look how he disguised himself as an obedient dog, enduring humiliation until today.”
The tension in the room was palpable. Someone beside Nelson wanted to speak but was stopped by his raised hand.
Jaquan continued, “Of course, I’m not saying you’re a dog. You need to hide your true self and become a wolf, gradually amassing wealth and power, draining your prey dry while manipulating people’s hearts. Only then can you bring down those you hate, just like Nelson.”
“Nelson, am I right?”
Their sharp eyes met in the air, each harboring their own thoughts.
