With his hands in his pockets, he said, “No problem, let’s go take a look.”
The small meeting had made Callie extremely nervous yesterday. Nelson remembered Callie’s tone and couldn’t help but smile.
When they arrived at the 27th floor, a crowd was blocking the entrance to the conference room. He stopped, “Has it started?”
Skye exchanged a glance with Cora behind her, both sweating profusely. “Mr. Oconnor? Why are you here?”
“I asked you a question.”
No one expected Nelson to attend the meeting, and they quickly made way for him.
“Callie hasn’t arrived yet,” Skye said, not daring to lift her head.
Cora straightened up, surprised. “What did you say? It’s already ten o’clock. Where is she?”
At that moment, Litzy came out of the conference room. Seeing Nelson, her legs went weak. It was over; Callie was really in trouble this time.
Skye immediately pulled her over. “You say it. You’re the closest to Callie. Where is she?”
Litzy was in a difficult position. “She… she told me twenty minutes ago that she was on her way and asked me to stall for time.”
“Ridiculous! Such an important meeting, and she’s treating it like a joke?” Cora scolded.
Nelson’s face darkened. He told Litzy, “Call her.”
“I did… no one answered.”
Nelson’s expression changed completely, his eyes filled with a deep and sharp intensity. He walked a short distance away and made a call on his private phone.
“Where is she?”
The person on the other end was surprised. “What? The lady hasn’t arrived at the company yet?”
“What do you mean?” Nelson’s voice grew colder.
A minute later, he hung up the phone, emanating a chilling aura. He walked past everyone and pushed open the conference room door. His unpleasant expression turned calm and composed as soon as he entered.
“Chief Greer, nice to see you again.” He extended his hand.
“Mr. Oconnor? What brings you here?” Chief Greer, who was in charge of the Splendor Estate project, stood up in surprise upon seeing Nelson.
The other leaders who had been waiting for a long time also stood up. Most of them had grown impatient but didn’t expect Nelson to appear.
“How’s the coffee from Oconnor Group? Apologies for the delay; it was our oversight.”
Chief Greer shook Nelson’s hand and chuckled. “Mr. Oconnor’s employees are quite something, making us wait this long.”
Nelson smiled lightly and accepted the remark. “That employee encountered an unexpected situation and couldn’t attend today’s meeting. I apologize on her behalf and will make it up to you another day. I hope you all understand.”
Everyone was shocked. “An unexpected situation? This…”
Regardless of whether the reason was true or not, Nelson had personally come to resolve the matter, and they had no reason to refuse his gesture.
“The design plans will be delivered tomorrow, and we’ll switch to an online meeting,” Nelson said patiently. “I hope today’s incident won’t affect our future cooperation.”
With that said, no one dared to cause further trouble. Gaining his favor was already a benefit.
“That’s not important; people are what matter. We hope Mr. Oconnor’s employee recovers soon.”
Leaving the 27th floor, Nelson headed straight for the parking lot with Cora jogging behind him.
His phone rang. “We’ve found out, Mr. Oconnor. The lady was in a car accident near Oconnor Group. The injuries are not life-threatening; she’s currently being treated at City Hospital No. 1. The car that hit her was a Mercedes-Benz, and we’re investigating the driver’s identity.”
“Keep investigating and detain the person for me!” Nelson’s voice echoed in the parking lot, filled with intense anger.
Cora couldn’t help but shrink back, not daring to speak throughout.
Regarding Callie’s identity, Nelson no longer intended to hide it from her.
