Chapter 97 Will You Divorce Me?

“If I remember correctly, two days ago Caden said he would rather give Vankey to Mr. Scott and not to me.” Nelson chuckled but looked grim.
Deshawn was stunned and narrowed his eyes, “Mr. Oconnor, I’m not going to beat around the bush with you. If I send my brother’s injury report and take that employee of yours to court, that will be the end of this.”
Nelson’s expression changed slightly hearing Callie’s name and he set aside his glass, “Caden, do you have any idea where your brother brought Joaquin out?”
“Who’s Joaquin?” Deshawn hadn’t even known this.
“The starter of everything.” Nelson reminded him.
“Where?”
“Kenker Hotel.” Nelson smiled, in control of everything, “Your brother has done a lot of crimes over the years. His lending usury and beating people up for money alone will get him years in prison”
Deshawn hadn’t been involved in many things over the years, so naturally, he didn’t know this. He snorted coldly, “Mr. Oconnor, don’t forget that I have friends among the police.”
“And Kenker is only able to stand for so many years for a reason.” Nelson immediately said.
The dinner was destined to be uneventful, and by the end of it, Nelson’s face was grim.
“I’d like to see if your friends will be able to bail you out after you are found embezzling public funds.”
The waiter was bringing in tea as Nelson walked past him out of the door. Outside the waiting Cora immediately followed, “Mr. Oconnor, are you sure about this? We have not yet taken Vankey. If Deshawn really got bailed out…”
“It won’t happen,” Nelson said.
Cora was stunned. She had been working for Nelson for so many years and seldom saw him act so rashly, but recently she frequently saw him act out of his wits and it was all about that woman.
“Clean things up. Don’t let anyone find anything at the hotel,” Nelson reminded in a low voice.
“I won’t. How is Miss Marsh doing now? Maybe I should visit her and offer my condolences on behalf of the company.” Cora tentatively asked, trying to sound calm.
Nelson gave her a sideways glance, “That won’t be necessary.”
Cora pursed her lips, her eyes filled with jealousy.
“What has Jaquan Scott been doing lately?”
“There was an incident at one of his branch company’s projects, a man died and he went to settle the matter. He won’t be able to focus on Ylosea recently.”
“Got it.”
When Nelson came back to himself, he saw that Callie got him a bowl of soup.
“It’s sweet, try it?”
She smiled sweetly as if she didn’t care at all if he had had dinner.
Nelson took it, and he drank it gracefully, finishing it quickly, “You went to the hospital today to remove the gauze?”
“Yes. But there are scars and they are ugly.”
“They’ll be gone in a few days.” Nelson cupped her chin and examined her face in the light.
Callie forced herself to keep cool, her body stiffening, her eyes fixed on him, “Nelson, if I’m really disfigured, will you divorce me?”
