Nelson’s voice was a bit hoarse, probably because he was on the verge of sleep.
Callie’s ears burned even hotter.
“I should return this necklace to you. It’s too valuable. If it gets damaged, there will be trouble.”
“Grandpa gave it to you. Do you want to make him sad?”
Callie sighed. “Then I’ll give it back when we get divorced.”
Nelson paused in the dark. Divorce was inevitable, but somehow, the thought annoyed him.
“This necklace is a unique piece from the 20th century, with unmatched purity. There isn’t a third like it in the whole country. If converted to cash, it could buy an island.”
Nelson’s calm tone but shocking words almost made Callie fall out of bed.
If she damaged it, she could never repay it.
“So if you even think about damaging it, you’ll have to bear the consequences.”
‘He must be the devil.’ she thought.
Any lingering romantic thoughts vanished. Callie just wanted to sleep. “Goodnight, Mr. Oconnor.”
The next morning, the first thing Callie saw when she opened her eyes was Nelson.
His handsome face was right in front of her. Her voice was hoarse as she greeted him, “Good morning, Mr. Oconnor.”
She received no response.
Callie slowly realized her hand was touching something soft.
She instinctively felt Nelson’s chest and then snapped awake.
She was hugging Nelson! One of her legs was even draped over his waist, treating him like a human pillow. The “human pillow” looked furious.
“Whoever crosses the line is a dog, huh? Callie, is it comfortable to hug me like this?” His voice was a mix of stormy anger and disgust.
He always hated being too close to women.
Callie quickly pulled away. “I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to. I should have told you I’m a bad sleeper…”
Nelson sat up, about to snap, but then noticed her shirt had ridden up. Her creamy, smooth skin and graceful curves were in full view. He quickly averted his eyes, feeling a flush creep up his neck.
“A silly.”
With that, he shut himself in the bathroom to wash up. Out of Callie’s sight, Nelson was trying to catch his breath. He wondered why he would get hard for her.
Meanwhile, Callie realized her state of undress and screamed.
“Ah! Why don’t you tell me?”
At the dining table, Old Oconnor looked at them in confusion, sensing the odd tension.
Callie buried her face, not daring to look at Nelson. Her voice was muffled, “Nothing, Grandpa. I just didn’t sleep well.”
Help. She was still a virgin, and now Nelson had seen her naked body. What was left of her dignity?
After hastily eating a few bites, Callie couldn’t stay any longer. She mumbled a quick goodbye and grabbed her bag, rushing out. “Grandpa, I’m late for work. I have to go!”
“Hey!”
Nelson picked up his car keys. “I’m heading to work too.” He quickly followed Callie, seeming more energetic than usual.
Bianca watched them and smiled. “Nelson becomes different when he’s with Callie.”
“That boy needs someone to keep him company.”
Callie ended up in Nelson’s car.
She curled up in the corner, trying to keep her distance.
“I’m the one who got groped, okay? Why are you embarrassed?”
“I’m not embarrassed! And it’s not the same for men and women. You just got hugged, but I lost my dignity!” Callie covered her face, devastated.
