Lorelai suddenly began to struggle with all her might, screaming like a madwoman. “I’m not leaving! I’m the design director! Only Mr. Oconnor can fire me!”
She seemed to have forgotten she had also offended Nelson.
“As a designer, you have the nerve to plagiarize someone else’s work and still claim you’re not leaving! We can fire you for cause!”
Lorelai’s eyes turned bloodshot as she lunged at Callie. “You set me up! This is all your doing!”
Callie took a step back, her expression calm. “Go enjoy your time with Mr. Montes.”
“Take her away!” Mr. Russell commanded. The security guards immediately restrained Lorelai and dragged her out in a very undignified manner.
Litzy couldn’t stop laughing. “Now the whole company knows she was kicked out of Oconnor Group. Callie, you’ve got your revenge!”
Callie exhaled deeply, a smile forming on her lips. It really was sweet revenge.
With Lorelai gone, the colleagues scattered, already speculating about who the next design director would be.
“Is it you who notify Mr. Russell? You invited him over and staged the whole scene, right? That was brilliant,” Litzy marveled.
Callie drifted into thought. She hadn’t notified Mr. Russell, but she had notified Nelson.
Earlier that morning, she had left a note for Nancy to give to Nelson. The note read: “If you want to watch a show, come to the design department.”
Nelson had seen the note but chose not to show up personally. Instead, he sent someone with the authority to handle the situation.
It was a prudent move. Now everyone knew that Callie was tough. No one would dare bully her again.
In the top-floor conference room, sunlight streamed through the huge windows, highlighting the man’s sharp features.
“Mr. Oconnor, your coffee.” Cora placed the coffee down and accidentally glanced at Nelson’s computer screen. She hesitated. “Mr. Oconnor, are you watching the surveillance feed? Did something go missing? I can have someone look into it.”
Nelson didn’t lift his eyes and casually closed the screen. “No, just looking around.”
Cora didn’t press further but remained puzzled as she left the room. She could have sworn she saw the feed from the 27th-floor design department.
Why was Nelson watching the design department’s surveillance?
Cora’s curiosity grew as she dialed a number. “Jaylin, it’s me. Did anything happen in the design department today?”
Meanwhile, in the parking lot.
“Mr. Oconnor, I sincerely appreciate all you do for your employees. How about I treat you to dinner tonight?”
“No, a meal with him must be very costly…”
“Mr. Oconnor, Oconnor Group is so fortunate to have you. To show my gratitude, how about I cook dinner for you tonight?” Callie said to herself, laughing excitedly. “That’s perfect. Cooking is cheap. That’s what I’ll say!”
Callie had been waiting by the black Porsche 911 for a while, dodging people and cars, but Nelson still hadn’t shown up.
Just as she was waving her hands in the air in frustration, Nelson leisurely emerged from the shadows, the sound of his expensive leather shoes echoing.
“Dinner isn’t necessary.”
Callie froze in place.
As Nelson’s face gradually came into view, Callie wished she could disappear from his view.
“Mr. Oconnor… when did you come down?”
“While you were expressing your admiration for me.”
