ARGON
“This can’t be possible!”
“Is this for real? There’s no way an Ivy is roaming around in our pack. It can’t be real!”
“I thought they were all cleared?” The councils complained, looking terrified after hearing Estelle’s description.
This left the rest of us confused after seeing their reaction to this wolf they called an IVY. Like… What is an IVY exactly?
“No, this has to be a prank. There’s no way an Ivy is moving about in Wolf Crest, ” The elderly lady said, swaying her head.
With their sudden fear, I immediately asked, ” What are talking about? What’s an Ivy?”
On throwing that question, the councils dropped their gaze on me, going silent. It felt like I had said something offensive because of how they were staring at me.
That’s when one uttered, “An Ivy? You don’t know what an Ivy is?”
“Um… Am I supposed to know?” I lifted my brow, glancing from one elder to the other.
That’s when the elderly lady said, rising to her feet, “As the Alpha, you should have known about the history and what occurred in the past, but our former elders and your grandfather, decided to keep this tale in the pit instead of stressing the new generation with it.”
“Your father knows about this creature, but didn’t bother to share it with you, since they were wiped out.”
This was beginning to sound strange to me. What history are they talking about that links with this Ivys they’re talking about?
“You see, many years ago, there was an epic battle between the werewolves and the Ivys. This was a battle that took most werewolves lives in the past,” The elderly lady started, crossing her arms.
The other two got to their feet and joined her. “The IVYs are considered the abominable of the werewolves. Just like Estelle described, they have black furs, huge figures that can switch into any sizes they want, and they have green eyes to show who they are.”
“The ultimate manipulators, tricksters… They can mimic voices and lure their enemy into a death trap. They are immune to anything poison, because they are poison themselves.”
“Wait, wait, wait! You mean such a creature exist? ” I asked, stunned by what I was hearing.
So, Jerome and Estelle went through a terrible battle with such a beast? And I thought it was a joke.
“Oh my goodness!” Estelle gasped out, tapping Deron’s lap. “I told you, father! I wasn’t losing it. I really saw that creature! It has been chasing me around and even in my room! ” She shared, looking a bit relief. “That means I’m not insane. I was never mentally unstable!” She rejoiced, leaving Deron shocked.
Since he was almost the same age like my father, I expected him to know about this Ivy wolf, but seems Deron knows nothing about the creature. He was lost.
“This has to be a joke. Green eyes?” Deron muttered, glancing from the councils to Estelle.
The coincils had to repeat their words, telling him that the creature existed before the great fight.
“You said something about an epic battle between the werewolves and Ivys. Why did you separate them from werewolves? Aren’t they the same?” Brielle asked, looking worried.
That’s when the councils shared something disturbing. “The same? We don’t consider those demons wolves! They are nothing but the underworld beasts, ” One of the council said, answering Brielle’s question.
“The Ivys look like Werewolves, but trust us, they are nothing compared to us! They are monsters, abnormal wolves. An Ivys strength and power is almost at the level of an Alpha, but fear them because they can surprise you.”
This was beginning to sound troubling. What kind of a creature is that? Same strength as an Alpha?
“Put them in the same battle ground with an Alpha or a Lycan king. They will step out alive, and leave their opponent halfway dead.”
“What?” I gulped down my saliva, shocked to hear this from my councils.
How come no one told me about this? Why am I only learning about this when the situation has gotten worst? Even my own father kept this tale from his son, believing this being wouldn’t come back. I feel… Damn!
“That’s terrible,” Brielle commented, taking hold of my hand in fear. I felt her grip and decided to sit next to her, so she won’t feel terrified.
“You can’t say a green-eyed wolf has more power than an Alpha. That means you’re saying if I come face to face with one, I’ll be defeated,” Deron objected, refusing to accept what the councils just told us.
But his words fell back when they repeated their statement. “If you and an Ivy are placed in a battle ground alone, an Ivy will step out victorious, and you dead or almost dead!”
“I refuse to accept that,” Deron objected again, rising to his feet. “That means you’re saying your own Alpha has no chance against this creature,” He pointed at me, getting everyone’s attention to fall at my direction.
“You’re calling him a weakling. But I know I’m not weak. No creature can bring me down. I have the blood if a true Alpha!” Deron bragged, sitting down beside Estelle.
Still, the councils didn’t change their words. “Same with Argon. If he’s before an Ivy, he may not make it. Unless you’re strong enough to put those demons down. It’s just like the battle of old. It was brutal, but we were able to end those demons.”
“What happened in this battle? Can you tell us please?” Brielle asked.
“Yes, can you tell us how it went? What happened?” I backed my Luna, patiently waiting for their response.
And they didn’t object to it.
“Many years ago, there was a distress in every werewolf and Lycan pack, all because of this creatures that call themselves the Ivys. They were known for their violent nature towards trespassers, and anyone who dared to cross their path was made to pay the price.”
“According to what we learnt, this problem started when an Alpha from a pack did something wrong by killing an Ivy pup out of fear. That brought about chaos, as this creatures decided to make our lives a living hell.”
“No peace, no hope, no solution… Until every Alphas and Lycan Kings joined hands together to stop this creatures, leading to one of the ultimate werewolf battle in history.”
“Fighting those demons was hard, but we succeeded with the help of our past leaders, who beheaded and wiped out those creatures from the face of the earth. The end of the Ivys brought about peace to every pack, be it Lycan or Werewolf,” They shared with us.
“But if you say they aren’t seen as Werewolves, then where did they originated from?” I asked, feeling there was more to this creature than we think.
Then they shared another information about this Ivy and were they came from. “The goddess, Selene, goddess of the full moon and the heavens, had two sisters known as Diana and Hecate. Diana is the goddess of earth and the half moon, while Hecate, the goddess of the underworld and the dark moon.”
“Diana and Hecate, just like our goddess Selene, created their own kind of wolves but according to their liken.”
“I’ve heard about the other two sisters but never knew they had their own creation,” I said, finding all these surprising and new to me. Who knew the goddess’s sisters had their own creations?
“Yes they do. Both Diana and Hecate have their creatures.”
“The Goddess Selene had no issue with Goddess Diana’s interest in creating her own beings, based on her interest. So, creatures that symbolizes love and peace was created by her. From Vampires to Werecats…”
“Even the Spirit wolves. And get this, there are other wolves with coloured eyes like the Ivys. But under Goddess Diana, they are peaceful yet rare like the Ivys. They hardly relate with others, but like to be on their own,” They shared, surprising us even more.
“Other coloured eyes? This is beginning to creep me out,” Tania, who was standing close to the door, spoke with fear in her voice.
Who wouldn’t be scared? Now we’re hearing that there are other rare wolves with strange abilities. I’m… I’m still finding it hard to swallow all these information.
“So, who’s the goddess of the Ivys? Was it Selene?” I asked.
The councils swayed their heads, giving me their response. “The Ivys were created by Goddess Hecate, the dark moon and underworld queen.”
“Her creation didn’t appeal Selene, who felt she was going way too far with her work. She even tried to overthrown our goddess, but was casted into the underworld to remain there forever.”
“Hecate created not only the Ivys, but also the Dark Blood Wolves. These wolves are deadly like the Ivys. They are just black at heart and their steps are filled with darkness. They are strong, but not that deadly like the Ivys that possess so many abilities. Those two creatures are considered abominable to Selene and Diana’s eyes. Anything from Hecate are called devilish. That’s why we werewolves made it our goal to clear the Ivys when they began their attack on us. Having those creatures around is bad news!”
“So, if what you’re describing to us is indeed an Ivy, then it’s important we find that beast before it’s too late, ” The elderly lady warned. “Pray it’s not a female Ivy. That particular gender can be nasty at heart. If you mess with them, then you’ll be sorry, because they won’t leave their prey until they have ended their lives.”
“Female? ” Estelle uttered, trembling in her seat. Her behavior got us staring at her direction, as she managed to speak up, “The green-eyed wolf is… She’s a female. I know from the way she spoke. She’s a lady.”
“Oh goddess! That’s bad news.”
“Bad news indeed. Alpha, you have to find this Ivy.” They faced me, looking worried. “We can’t allow that beast to roam around. You need to find that wolf immediately, and end it’s life. We can’t allow that creature to reproduce more of its kind or it will be a problem for us,” They ordered.
“Let’s hope that this Ivy is the only one and there aren’t others around,” The elderly lady shivered, like she got a cold by mentioning this being.
Never in my life did I think I’d be going up against a creature I’ve never seen before or heard about. But if this creature will bring nothing but chaos to my pack, then it’s important I get rid of it.
“You can count on Argon. No matter the size or appearance of this Ivy, he’s able,” Brielle supported, clinging to me. She looked into my eyes with a smile and said, ” I trust you. You can do it.”
“Thank you, ” I appreciated, placing my forehead on hers. Her support is very important to me.
And that irritated Estelle and her father, who decided to leave for their pack. “I don’t know what you have planned for this Ivy you’re talking about, but you better deal with it. My daughter was traumatized so many times by that beast! If I get my hand on it, I swear I’m going to end it myself, ” Deron said strongly, pulling Estelle and leaving the mansion.
I didn’t bother to follow them or say anything. I just held Brielle close, promising to find this Ivy wolf.
Such a wolf needs to be brought down. Anything that will bring stress to my Luna or to the pack, I have to handle it.
