ALPHA DERON
“This has to be a joke. Argon knows very well that all these goods weren’t sent down from heaven and straight into my factory. He has to be messing with me.”
I watched how he and his partners talked about the so-called free goods I brought, making plans on how to proceed with their project. But none of their discussions had my name in it!
They kept laughing and chatting while I sat in the corner, looking like a dummy.
I want Argon to come here and explain himself. Who’s giving goods for free? Is it me or he’s the one doing the charity here?
“He better be the one doing the giveaway because I can’t waste so many millions all in the name of fatherly love,” I mumbled, still watching.
Once their meeting was over, Argon escorted his partners out of the conference room and straight to the parking lot where they parked their vehicles.
I was following him from behind like his personal bodyguard, waiting for a response to this drama he created.
The business tycoons already had their trucks waiting outside for them. They had loaded my goods into the vehicles, and where set to leave.
“This is just a prank. Argon was just pulling my legs back there. Once they leave, he’ll end this game,” I muttered, nodding my head while observing their movement.
They soon left with the goods, leaving me in my spot, heating up. Argon was busy waving his hand with delight, before letting out a sigh and facing me.
He gave a big grin and said, patting me on the shoulder, “Good job, Deron. Good job.” And that was it. Argon walked pass me, heading for the company!
Is he for real?
Quickly, I followed and stopped him right at the entrance of the company, demanding for an explanation. “What was that? ”
“What was what? ” He shrugged.
“That! That drama! That…”
“That, that, what?” He repeated after me, still shrugging confusingly.
Does he think I’m here to play?
“See, I almost bit my tongue because of you. Anyways Deron, you have made us proud with your skills,” He said, placing his hand on my left arm.
“Seems this is what I was waiting for. Yes, he’s about to give the good news.” I stared in anticipation, patiently expecting a good feedback.
But in lieu…
“Do have a nice drive back to Red wood pack, my father figure. Sayonara!” He saluted with a wide grin, making his move to the door.
“Oh no you don’t!” I blocked his path , stopping him from heading into his company. His security guards that saw this, came over to push me off, but Argon stopped them on their track.
“You are not going anywhere until you tell me what is going on here!” I yelled, glaring into Argon’s eyes.
He dimmed them at me and asked, “Deron, why are you being childish all of a sudden? The work has been done already. You can head home now!”
“What work, Argon?” I questioned with anger in my voice.
He tilted his head and said, “The work we both agreed on. Has old age made you forgetful?”
“My old age has nothing to do with this, Boy!” I poked his chest, expressing my anger. “We made a deal that you’ll get your partners to work with me when I bring in the goods needed for the planned project! You said they needed my help! ” I raised my voice, attracting more guards, and also Jerome’s attention.
That Beta was around the corner and heard me yelling. He immediately dived in, standing beside his Alpha.
“What’s wrong?” Jerome asked Argon, glancing my way.
“You better explain yourself, Argon! You never mentioned anything about giving my goods to your friends for free! You lied to me!”
“I didn’t mention it?” His eyes popped, acting surprised. “Alpha Deron, with all due respect, are you indirectly calling me deceitful?”
“Quit this act, Argon! You lied to me about this deal! You said your partners will work with me after I deliver the goods! I did as you said and brought the items, but what did I get in return?!” I yelled, losing my temper.
Argon showed no fear to my words. Instead, he scoffed at me and asked, “Did you read the papers before signing? I’m sure you did, because I saw you going through the pages like every other true business owner in this world.”
“What are you talking about? I went through the papers of course! And in those pages, there was nothing like giving my hardwork for free! Those goods cost a lot, ” I defended myself, pointing at Argon.
But still, he wasn’t moved. He smirked at me and said to Jerome, ” Get me a copy of the papers.”
“Right away, Alpha, ” Jerome obeyed, rushing into the company.
I stood in my spot, wondering what kind of game this young man was playing. If he thinks I am here to play, then he’s mistaken.
Jerome soon arrived with the papers, handing it to Argon, who drew closer to me and began to read the pages like I’m a blind old man.
” Can you see this area? In section three on page five, it clearly states that you are only helping out with this work as a father to his son. Fatherly love to thy son.” He pointed with his finger, tracing the line.
“What?! That wasn’t there!” I was astonished to hear that from Argon. I took a look at where he was pointing and saw it written below. That wasn’t in the papers when he gave them to me. This… This is a lie!
He kept on reading the page, hitting at the point that states I would be giving the goods free of charge with no plans of getting a dime in return!
“Whether I am accepted by the team or not, I will not complain because this is for my son. I am giving this out of my own free will. Then you signed the page and other pages, and gave it to me willingly. So, have you gotten your answer Deron?” He lifted his right brow, letting out a smirk.
Still, I refused to believe this nonsense he just read out. “You… You bastard! You changed those papers!” I roared, almost slamming the papers out of his hands.
But he was swift to pull it away from my reach. “Now you’re sounding like your dramatic daughter, Deron. Be a man for heaven sake!” He sparked at me, giving the papers to Jerome.
“You have a copy of the papers, don’t you? Head back home and check it yourself. I didn’t cheat you. I told you what my team needed and you agreed to it. And the goddess knows well that I gave you the papers to read. You read it from the first page to the end! Back to Back! So, stop accusing me for your own mistakes!” He fired, snapping his finger at his guards.
They came surrounding me, waiting for Argon’s order. “Yes, Alpha?”
“Escort Alpha Deron to his car. His service will no longer be needed,” He commanded, disrespecting me!
I became furious with Argon’s action. He has made a fool out of me!
“Time to leave.”
“Stay back!” I sparked at the security guards, who immediately drew away when I growled out.
I glared at Argon, who gazed at me with a smile while his Beta had a swollen cheek filled with laughter, ready to burst it out anytime soon.
“I thought you were my boy. I believed your so-called love for me. After evrything, you chose to make me a laughing stock? Fine, I will show you, Argon. You think Deron is the kind of man to mess around with? No problem. You’ll be sorry you pulled this kind of game with me.”
“The gate is that way, Old man. And make sure you buy a glass next time, okay? ” He grinned, waving at me.
Raged, I stormed to my car, got in and zoomed out of the premises. My mind was still on this shocking act carried out by Argon. I can’t believe he did this to me!
“Don’t worry. When I get that copy, I’ll prove that you forged my signature on a different file, laying false accusations on me!” I drove with speed, almost running into some vehicles.
When I arrived at my mansion, I immediately raced to my bedroom to get the papers from where I dropped it.
Pulling it out from the drawer, I turned to the page Argon had mentioned and… “Shit! This can’t be possible!” I froze, staring at the same section Argon had read. It was indeed stated there that I’d be giving my goods for free!
But how did I miss this? “I read the pages carefully before putting down my signature. How come?! ” Confusion filled my thoughts. I was lost.
“Argon has ruined me. That goddamn bastard has ruined me!” I panicked, tossing the papers to the floor.
I spent so much money on those goods, thinking I’ll get a spot with his partners. Now that he has distributed it for free, where am I going to get the money to pay my workers and cover up my losses?
“Be cool, Deron. Just relax and don’t panic.” But who am I kidding? I’m about to lose my senses here!
What Estelle said in the morning began to ring in my head. “Doesn’t this sound strange?” I recalled, regretting my foolishness.
I should have used my brain when Argon phoned, claiming he wants to work with me. That bastard did all these to get back at me!
Damn him!
“I said be cool, Deron. I’m sure you’ll figure out something real soon. Just be calm, ” I encouraged myself, puffing in and out.
.
The following week came like a flash. I’ve been unable to head to the office after that incident at Argon’s company. I just stayed indoor, looking for a way out of my situation.
My top staffs have been trying to reach me since that day. They wanted to know what was going on. They even paid me a visit during the week, asking to see me.
I had to send my guard to lie to them that I wasn’t around. My daughter was stunned when she saw this. She stared at me in confusion, probably wondering why her father lied to his employees.
I don’t want anyone to learn about my loss. It’s going to bring a lot of problem to my image.
But knowing it’s a new week, and my staying indoor might raise questions, I got ready for work that Wednesday morning, and went over to the company.
On arrival, my secretary welcomed me with excitement, asking about my days off. “Seems you had an occasion, sir. You didn’t reply any of my messages,” She said, following me to my office.
I couldn’t understand her behavior, until my top staffs came over with the same face expression, reminding me that Monday was the end of the month.
Damn it! They are asking for their salary! If I pay them from the little money on ground, I’ll be left with nothing!
“Um… We’ll talk about that later,” I said, ending that matter.
I thought I could escape it, but I was wrong. The factory workers sent my top employees to my office to ask for their pay again.
“This is the first time you’ll be holding our salary, sir. The workers are not smiling and have demanded for their fee. Please, try to pay them before the week ends,” They said, getting worried.
This was getting out of hand. How will I tell them that I’m short of money? I can’t give them the little money in my hold. I’ll be broke!
This is all Argon’s fault. That mutt deceived and broke my trust. “You’ll pay for this, Argon. You will!”
