ARGON
Thank the heavens he mentioned the papers. I forgot about that document and just left it hanging on a board in my office. I call that board ‘Unwanted’, so that’s where I pinned the papers.
Now that he’s asking for it, it’s best he carries this nonsense away from my pack. Anything that will tie me to this man and his daughter, I am ready to scatter it.
“I’ll do as you have said, Alpha, ” Jerome obeyed, ready to head back into the building and get the papers. Only for Deron to quickly stop him in his track, saying, “Why are you being hasty? I was only playing around.”
He cackled, bumping one of his men to laugh with him. The four men followed him to chuckle out, looking confused.
What does he mean by playing around? Does he take me for a fool?
” I can understand your feelings towards my daughter, Son. We are men here. Still, that doesn’t mean we’ll have to fight because of that. No, Argon. We’re both matured men.”
“But you don’t act like one,” I blurted, dimming my gaze at Deron.
He grinned at my words, refusing to spark at my insult. I know what he’s trying to do here. Sneaky old man.
In order to avoid taking the papers, Deron left my company with his men, immediately. He left the gifts behind, acting all calm.
I had wanted to make sure he leaves with the papers and his gifts, but before Jerome could rush in and get the papers, Deron was gone.
“That animal!” I sparked, furious with his action. “If he thinks I’m going to leave that pile of garbage, then he’s wrong!”
Quickly, I stormed into the building with Jerome following from behind. On getting to my office, I yanked the document off the board and gave my beta, saying, “Follow that man and drop this at his home. He thinks I don’t know the kind of scheme he’s pulling here? Rubbish! ”
Jerome took the papers, promising to take it to Deron after finishing a job.
Due to that old man’s visit, I lost the zeal to stay at the company any more. In fact, I felt so frustrated within those four walls.
“I’ll have to head back to the mansion. I don’t feel too good, ” I said, informing my beta.
He also agreed with my decision, suggesting her head home, in case Deron plans to return with another scheme up his sleeves. “I’ll make sure he takes his nonsense back with him, and het those gifts burnt,” Jerome assured me.
Feeling a bit satisfied with that promise from my beta, I exited the company in my car, driving back to the mansion.
When I stepped into my home, the first person I laid my eyes on, brought peace to my heart, wiping the anger and frustration from my brain.
It was Brielle. She was talking to Tania and two other maids, sending them on an errand.
The moment she saw me, she smiled, dismissing her meeting with the ladies. “When you’re done, let me know.”
“Yes, Luna,” The trio said, walking away.
I found my feet drawing closer to her. It soon came to a stop right next to my Luna, who tilted her head a bit, observing my face.
“What? Is there something on me? ” I asked, touching my cheek, then my nose.
But Brielle just hummed and gave a response, “Why are you annoyed? Did someone provoke you at the company?”
How did she know? Is it visible on my face? But I made sure all my vexation was wiped off before approaching her. Still, she was able to tell something is off with my mood.
“What makes you say that? I am not annoyed, ” I denied, curious to know how Brielle was able to tell.
She lifted her brow and said, pointing at me, ” Ways to know Alpha Argon is mad. One, your upper button is always opened. Two, your tie is pulled halfway down. Three, If it was heat, your forehead would be sweaty, but there’s no drop of water on that dried head. Four, your eyes are looking red. Not your usual wolf eyes, but the angry eyes. And to crown it all, you’re home early.”
“Wow! Am I that easy to read?” I was still amazed by Brielle’s observation. She smirked with a giggle, asking, “Now what’s the problem? Who has made the Alpha of Wolf Crest so mad this morning?” She made her way to the living room, while I followed her from behind.
I didn’t feel like getting Brielle involved in this matter. Since it was something that occurred between Deron and I, during the failed wedding, I felt telling Brielle would only bother her.
“It’s nothong serious, ” I lied, taking a seat on the couch.
A maid stepped in with a tray containing two glasses of juice. Brielle took it from her and offered me one, questioning further, ” Are you sure it’s nothing? So, there’s a fellow thay goes by the name ‘Nothing’?”
I chuckled at Brielle’s words, watching her smile back.
She sat next to me and requested to know what was bothering me. “Who knows, I might be of help, ” She said.
And taking that to mind, I told Brielle about Deron and the document he gave to me as a wedding gift. “He came over pretending to be a changed man! But when he saw that I wasn’t the man he knew before, he demanded for his document!”
“And did you give it to him?”
“I was going to send Jerome to get it for him, but he immediately changed his tongue, claiming he was joking. An old greedy bastard like himself knows how to joke? That’s nothing but a fallacy! ” I groaned, venting over the matter.
Brielle hummed and asked me what my final decision was. “Did you give him the document?”
“No, he left. But I told Jerome to take the papers down to his pack and toss it at his door.”
“Why? ” She questioned, sounding upset.
I looked at Brielle and noticed how she gazed at me with displeasure. Did I say something wrong?
That’s when Brielle said something that left me astonished. I never knew she could think to that point. ” Why are you stressing yourself with it? An Alpha gave you the power to his throne as a gift when you didn’t beg him for it! If he has no plan of taking it back, then I say you use it against him.”
“Use it against him? How do you mean?”
“Simple,” She smirked, drawing closer to my ear, whispering something marvelous. My eyes came large on hearing Brielle’s plan. It’s indeed a nice way of getting back at Deron.
She drew back and patted my shoulder, saying to me, “That way he will learn his lessons. Just trust me. ” She winked, leaning closer and delivering a peck to my cheek. My whole body shivered at her kiss. It bloomed my heart.
Right in front of my Luna, I contacted Jerome and ordered him to return back to the company with the document. “Don’t bother to go there, Jerome. Just head back. I’ll handle the matter myself, ” I said, staring at Brielle, who smiled at me proudly.
If this is what my Luna wants, then I’m going to do it.
