ARGON
“That monster! She was at my wedding?! Oh goddess!” Estelle grabbed her hair, looking petrified.
I saw the same fear written all over Jerome’s face. He couldn’t make out a straight word without shaking. “This… This is why I wanted us to hire more securities. I knew… I knew she was going to attack!” He said, rubbing his forehead.
This was beginning to feel creepy to me. If this green-eyed beast they have been talking about is real, does that mean the disaster at the company was indeed caused by it?
“What are you talking about? Are you listening to the words of a maid? ” Deron questioned Estelle and Jerome. It was clear that he didn’t believe their tale.
But they were both ready to change his mindset.
“If she says she saw that beast, then it’s true. Father, I have been battling this creature for long, thinking I was insane. But Jerome also came across this monster. It almost killed him! ” Estelle said, pointing at Jerome.
My Beta came closer and shared his experience with the creature, describing how vicious it was. “It’s hard to pin that beast down. It’s cunning and sneaky. I had a feeling that it might show up at the wedding, that’s why I was seeking for more guards,” He faced my direction, reminding me of his request.
He did mention the creature, but I didn’t take it seriously since such a thing doesn’t exist. But now that Tania said the wolf is real… I don’t know what to say.
“That will explain the green poison. It’s unlike anything I’ve seen,” Jerome indicated.
Now they were perambulating about this creature, making plans on how to fish it out.
“You have to listen to us, Daddy. That wolf is out to kill me. It’s the same wolf that sent me off the terrace that night! That same beast came back to harm me on my own wedding! Daddy… Help! ” Estelle cried, holding Deron closely for support.
“Calm down, child. Don’t cry. I’ve heard you. We’ll… We’ll get to the bottom of this, ” Alpha Deron said, pacifying her.
I watched how their screams and accusing fingers drifted from Brielle to this wolf in question.
Madness! After stepping into my mansion to yell like animals, they are now acting like the victims?
But I wasn’t going to let this slide after all the drama they unfolded here. They will all leave with a Sovenior.
“I think it’s best if we head out and get the authorities involved. If such a being is out there, looking for ways to harm my child, then we better bring it down,” Deron suggested, caressing Estelle’s face.
And just like that, both father and daughter were set to leave with their guards, making their way to the door.
But to their surprise… “What’s this? ” Deron questioned my guards, who stood in their way, preventing them from leaving the mansion.
“Why are you blocking our path? Can’t you see we’re leaving?!”
“No one is going anywhere, until I say so, ” I said, stepping forward.
Deron and Estelle turned around to face me. They didn’t look pleased with my order.
“Argon, we have no time for this. There’s an important situation that needs to be attended to! Didn’t you hear what they said? There’s a monster out there that’s trying to kill my daughter!”
“I wasn’t deaf, Alpha Deron. I heard everything clearly.” I crossed my arms, staring at both of them. “Whether this wolf is real or fake, you are not leaving this place, until I say so.”
“What nonsense is this? ” Deron groaned while Estelle tried to calm hus mood.
I scoffed a d gave my response. “Nonsense? You think I’d just allow you to work out that door after the drama you pulled up in my home?! You came here with a goal to accuse and drag Brielle into the mud for something she didn’t do. But the moment someone mentioned an imaginary creature your insane daughter has always been fighting, you immediately believed her words? Can you see how foolish you are?”
“Argon, mind your words!”
“Don’t tell me what to do, old man!” I raised my voice, pointing at Deron. He was stunned by my outburst. “You are in my pack, not yours!” I reminded him.
“If you want to leave, then you’ll have to apologize to Brielle for accusing her wrongly. Either you do it or you leave the hard way,” I ordered.
This provoked Deron, who immediately refused to do as I had said. “I rather kiss the floor than to apologize to that woman!” He dared me.
In anger, I squeezed my hand and said, “It’s best you comply. So, Choose wisely.”
“Argon, please. Let’s not start a fight. You should be supporting us in looking for this wolf, not making a fuss. End this nonsense!” Estelle chipped in, trying to sway me with her words.
When she made that statement, I snapped my finger and said, ” I can see you’ve made your choice. The second option it is then.”
Carefully, I took out my phone and began to play a soothing record that would silence both father and daughter completely.
“You… You ran a check on me, didn’t you?” Estelle’s voice came from the record. And the moment she heard it, her eyes came popping out in horror. She knows what this voice note contains.
“Estelle, isn’t that your voice? ” Alpha Deron asked on recognizing his daughter’s voice. He listened to Estelle and Doctor Nicole talking about the baby.
There was silence in the whole room, as they all heard Estelle threatening Doctor Nicole to stay shut. “Keep this between us, Doctor. If Argon should hear about this, I swear I’m going to make you regret it. Is that clear?”
This shocked Deron. He navigated his eyes on his daughter and found her frozen. Her face had turn red after hearing her own secret coming into the open. She was trapped.
The voice record came to an end, and I was able to sigh out with a smile creeping across my face. “I told you not to push me, Deron. You kept backing your daughter, seeing her as a saint, whereas she’s the main culprit you wish to strangle so badly, isn’t it?” I chuckled.
“This can’t be. It’s… It’s not true, ” Estelle tried to deny it, swaying her head at her father.
But who’s she trying to deceive?
“Doctor Nicole took a record of your conversation at the hospital, Estelle. You knew well that you’d be in trouble if the truth was out, that’s why you threatened her.”
“No! This… That’s fake. That’s not me!” She refused to come clean, playing the innocent game.
Alpha Deron’s face turned pale. It made me laugh out loudly, on seeing how the tables had turned.
“Only a stupid person would agree to that lie, Estelle. That’s clearly your voice on the record,” Brielle backed me up, stepping closer.
“And here I thought the baby was killed by the poison. You’re a monster!”
“Quiet! I… It’s not…” Estelle stammered, shivering in her spot.
Alpha Deron didn’t know how to react to this. He just gazed at Estelle, who was busy beating around the bush, claiming to be innocent. “That doctor is lying. She’s trying to ruin my reputation.”
“If you still wish to listen to your daughter, how about you check this reports, ” I said, tapping the screen of my device.
A ding came from Deron’s phone. He pulled his handset out of his pocket and became frozen at what he saw.
“What’s that? What did he send to you? ” Estelle asked, trying to check.
With a smirk, I told her what it was. “That’s the clear proof of your abortion, Estelle.”
“What?!” She gasped out, staggering back a bit.
“You aren’t the only one who knows how to hire an investigator. I also got mine, and they figured out where you had slaughtered your child. The date is written boldly. You and your father can have a good look at it,” I grinned, pleased with myself.
A shocked Deron couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw the picture of the abortion report I got. “You did this in our pack? ” He uttered, looking at Estelle.
Her whole face had swollen with fear. She couldn’t pour out another lie, now that she was trapped.
When everything had started going my way, Jerome stepped in and began to side with me. “How disappointing! And I thought you were innocent. Once again, you’ve deceived me into believing your lies! I thought you were fit to be with my Alpha, but no…”
He came closer to my spot and said, placing his hand on my shoulder, ” I will not allow you and your crazy daughter to ruin my Alpha’s name. It’s best you leave this place or I’m going to get you kicked out! Leave!”
He roared at them, ordering the guards to throw Deron and Estelle out of the mansion. The guards obeyed at once, grabbing Deron and Estelle in front of their own guards.
A shocked Deron couldn’t fight back after getting the answer he wanted. He wasn’t ready to listen to the truth, so he got it the hard way.
“Throw them out! ” Jerome shouted again, pointing thime mansion’s door.
On seeing his dedication, I hummed at my beta, patting his shoulder. He turned back to look at me, letting out a smile. “Don’t worry, Alpha. I’ll handle them myself.”
“Yes, and as you’re doing so, don’t forget to take your shoes while leaving, okay?” I said, smiling at him.
“What?” His smile faded, as he stared at me in confusion “What? Alpha, what are you saying?”
“Kick him out of my mansion. He’s no longer needed here. From today henceforth, you are no longer my Beta. I strip you off that position!” I passed my judgement, pushing Jerome into the arms of two guards, who had drawn nearer to take him.
He was shocked.
“No, Alpha! You can’t do this to me. I’ve been serving you for so long. I’ve been loyal!”
“Loyal? ” I lifted my brow at that word. A scoff escaped my lips, as I brought his so-called work from yesterday, into the matter. “If you were so loyal, you wouldn’t have lied to me, Jerome.”
“Lied to you? Alpha, I didn’t lie. I swear!”
“SHUT IT! Yesterday, you claimed you were heading down to the office to attend to some work, but you went down to the hospital to help Deron and Estelle. You even planned on how they’d storm into my mansion and accuse Brielle! What kind of a loyal beta does that?!” I roared out, expressing my rage and disappointment in Jerome.
He swayed his head, trying to convince me to listen to him.
“I trusted you, Jerome. You were like a brother to me. ”
“Alpha, I… They made me do it! They poisoned me into siding with them. I swear, I’m still your loyal servant.”
“ENOUGH!” I yelled out, silencing him. “THROW THEM OUT OF MY MANSION, NOW! I don’t want to see them anywhere near my home!” I commanded my guards.
They grabbed Alpha Deron, Estelle, Jerome, the guards that came with them, and pushed them out of my mansion.
I could hear Estelle begging me from outside, crying and calling out to me. “Argon, don’t do this. I love you! I LOVE YOU!!”
The doors came shut, keeping those venoms out of my home.
The silence of the mansion finally came in. I could no longer hear their screams, but my racing heart. It was pounding fast, causing heat to engulf my whole body.
I slowly wiped my forehead to feel the sweat that had dampened it. I was feeling feverish.
“Are you okay?” Brielle asked from behind.
I turned back to face her. She was staring at me, calmly.
I managed to smile, saying to her, ” I’m okay. I’ll… I’ll be in my room. Please, excuse me.”
I walked pass Brielle and Tania, making my way up the stairs. The battle with Deron and Estelle has made me weak at heart. Not because of Brielle, but because they made me a pawn in their games, hurting my feelings.
I won’t forgive them.
