ARGON
I have been trying to calm Estelle down, but she kept pushing me away like I was the problem.
I was able to get her under control, leaving her alone in my room to rest. When I offered to pet her, she just turned me down and said she wanted to be alone.
I’ve never seen Estelle like this before. She looks so pathetic.
When I left the room, I met Jerome standing outside with a long face. He had his arms crossed at his back, asking, “How is she?”
“She’s okay for now. She wants to be by herself,” I said, taking a look into the room before shutting it close.
“I heard what happened. The servants said they saw Brielle talking to her, something about the wedding, and that got Estelle screaming in anger. Seems someone isn’t just showing her delight in your wedding, but is also annoying your beloved bride, ” Jerome pointed out, swaying his head.
From what he said, I could now see what Brielle was trying to do here.
“As your beta, I advise you talk to Brielle and caution her attitude towards you and your bride. It’s getting out of her hand. Look at poor Estelle.” Jerome sighed, showing his sympathy towards Estelle.
Where I stood fuming in rage, I tightened my fist and decided to go and see Brielle.
“This nonsense has to stop! ” I groaned, storming out of beta’s presence and straight down the stairs.
I asked the servants for Brielle’s whereabout, and they pointed down the path leading to my study room.
Quickly, I marched down there and found her in my study, calculating something in her book.
“Six golden ribbons and… What else? ” She hummed, patting her chin.
But her attention came falling on me when I pushed the door open.
“Oh, you’re here. I need your help in picking the right colors for the decorations. I asked Estelle and she just started screaming, BLEH!” She waved her hands, demonstrating Estelle’s reaction.
And that only increased my anger.
Furious, I sparked at Brielle, stunning her.
“What do you want from us?! Can’t you just keep your so-called happiness to yourself than using it to torment our lives?!” I roared.
Brielle lifted her brow at me and asked, ” Are we back at this whole ‘why are you happy thing’ again? Look, I have told you before that…”
Before she could complete her statement, I grabbed her arm and swung her towards the wall, pinning her against it.
Her eyes came wide, dimming them at me with anger.
But I didn’t care.
I tightened my hands around her and warned, “Keep your fake happiness to yourself and do your so-called job. Estelle and I don’t need you to celebrate with us. We didn’t beg you for it.”
She stared at me with her anger slowly fading away. Yes, she must be feeling the burn now.
I smirked and said, “You say you’re happy for us, but I can tell you’re lying. Behind that fake smile is nothing but a jealous, weak, sad woman, who is trying to hide the fact that she is lonely with no man to call her own. It stabs her heart whenever she sees her ex-husband rejoicing with his future bride. Isn’t that right, Brielle?”
I was confident in myself. I know what she’s hiding behind that grin.
I wanted her to break or let out a tear drop, but Brielle sighed and said, gently pulling my hands off her arms, “If you think all those grammars would get to me, then I’m sorry Argon, you failed.”
This time she didn’t smile but delivered a cold stare, leaning against the wall comfortably, with her arms crossed against her chest.
“I don’t care about your new life or your pregnant wife. The Brielle who would cry her heart and soul for all those things, died a long time ago. Have you forgotten you killed her, Argon?”
“Stop pretending to be a changed person, Brielle. You’re still the same!”
She laughed at me, clapping her hands loudly.
“I can’t tell if you’re here to attack me because of my happiness you find disturbing… Or if you’re here to attack me for something else entirely.”
“What do you mean by that? ” I questioned, noticing the cunning grin engulfing her face.
“Don’t act so innocent, Argon. I’ve noticed how you always try to get my attention by using your wedding preparations. But when you didn’t get the result you badly wanted from me…” She began to approach me, causing my body to shiver.
“That tiny reaction… you decided to attack me for no reason. Why, Argon? What exactly do you want from this weakling?”
I drew away from her, meeting the table with my back. Brielle came blocking my path, smirking at me with a hum.
“I know you won’t give me an answer to that question, and I don’t care.” She tilted her head, making it clear to me.
“If my happiness is aching you so much, why don’t you just swallow it until your wedding is over?” She dimmed her eyes, frightening me.
“Just because you can’t feel the same joy I’m having in me, doesn’t give you the right to deny me of any happiness. You have taken a lot from me in the past. My home, life, marriage… Even my baby…” She counted with her finger, sounding cold.
I felt a sting in my heart, as she continued to mention all the things I did to her in the past, giving me reasons why she deserves to rejoice.
“Although it’s not my wedding, but my ex-husband’s, I still want to celebrate this occasion with you. It’s not just you that’s starting a new life, but me as well. So, this isn’t about your day only, Argon. The world doesn’t revolve around you.”
She stepped away from my point, grabbing her book and pen while drawing nearer to the door.
With the way she spoke and glared at me, I felt a sudden wave of fear around my body.
Brielle placed her book under her arm and said, “I’ll call you and your bride to check out the venue when the decorators are done. Whatever you see is what you’ll get. Goodnight.”
She walked out of the room, leaving me behind.
I remained near the table, breathing weirdly. I wasn’t expecting a comeback from Brielle. I thought I would be the one in charge, but she just made me the pup before her.
I could still feel the shivers running all over me. Why do I always feel like this whenever she speaks back at me?
.
At last, the engagement ceremony was here. I got the front of my mansion decorated beautifully for mine and Estelle’s big day.
I invited all the special guests and my business partners to join the occasion. Even the press showed up to witness this moment and share to the world.
I didn’t mind because I was the one who called them over, so they’d witness me and my beloved Estelle getting united as a couple.
The party was filled with guests from my end and Alpha Deron’s part. They were mainly top business men, women, and Royal families from other packs, who came over to rejoice with us.
Sir Derek and the councils accepted my invitation, even though they had no interest in coming at first.
“Thank you for coming,” I had welcomed them. They just hummed and went to stand elsewhere, watching the event.
“It’s time, Alpha,” Jerome had whispered to me, alerting me on the time.
I nodded at him, telling him to wait a bit more. “Just five more minutes.”
“But why? Is there someone else we’re waiting for? ” He asked, looking around.
Indeed I was waiting for someone, and that was Brielle. She wasn’t present and that got me wondering if she was around or not.
But when Alpha Deron came close and told me to start, I decided to push Brielle aside and start the engagement.
Under the watchful eyes of my guests and the councils, Estelle and I got engaged, exchanging our rings before everyone.
The guests clapped for us while the press flashed their cameras, recording the moment.
I held my beautiful Estelle closely, thanking everyone for the compliments.
“Bravo! Congratulations!” A familiar voice cheered loudly, surpassing others.
When I looked towards my mansion, I saw Brielle in a sparkling green dress that showed off her curves, clapping while stepping into the party fully.
Her presence sent a sudden wave of silence around the party, leaving everyone staring at her. Not just anyone, but mostly the men!
Her dress was… It was too attractive, sexy… And it brought out her shape! My body had risen at the sight of this, causing my heart to skip when I laid my eyes on her.
Why did she wear such a thing to my engagement ceremony?
“I am so sorry for showing up late, I was busy getting you two your gifts. Bring it in, Tania, ” She said, signaling her maid in.
Tania came in with a box, dropping it before Estelle and I.
“What’s in this?” Estelle questioned with disgust, rolling her eyes at Brielle.
Brielle smiled at us and said, ” It’s nothing special, but you two will love it. You can check it after the party, but for now… ”
She walked up to the man behind the party’s melody and said, “Give us something to dance to. It’s a happy occasion.”
The latter listened to her order and played a music worth swaying to. That’s how Brielle stole the party in split seconds, dancing… Seductively!
She ran her hands across her body, moving her hips to the rhythm of the song.
“Come on! Don’t just stand there! Let’s dance!” She said, pulling two couples to the dance floor.
That was enough to get everyone to listen and join her.
“Just look at her! Is this a club that she’s wearing that nonsense?” I heard Alpha Deron complaining by my side, groaning at Brielle.
“Just leave her. Let her do whatever she wants. I just want to sit down,” Estelle had said, taking hold of my hand.
“I’ll be over there my love.”
“Okay, ” I replied, watching Estelle walk over to a seat. She didn’t look okay.
But that didn’t bother me. I remained in my spot, watching Brielle twisting her waist in front of other men, and dancing with them.
Is she insane?!
Why is she acting like this?!
I wished I could look somewhere else and ignore her presence, but how can I turn away from that beautiful body?
Brielle had all the men at the party worshipping her like a goddess. They even surrounded her, singing her name according to the rhythm of the song.
And what did she do?
“WOOO!” She jubilated, twirling around and dancing to their satisfaction.
This is unacceptable!
Out of anger, I walked up to the councils who were watching this, and said, “Look at what she’s doing. Can’t you tell her to stop? She’s busy attracting too much attentions on herself. ”
Instead of getting a back up, the councils eyed me and hissed.
“And why do you care? She’s busy enjoying the party. Let her be herself for once.”
“Go and stay with your pregnant wife and leave us alone, Argon.”
“GO BRIELLE!” The elderly lady in their midst cheered out loudly, waving her hands at Brielle.
I don’t believe this. They are fine with the way she’s dancing with all these men?
This isn’t right!
I wanted to meet Sir Derek and also convince him to speak to Brielle, but I met him dancing with her.
He wasn’t being inappropriate with her, but danced like a father to his child.
When he moved into the arms of another woman, a man came before Brielle and held her from the waist.
The moment I saw this, my whole body triggered!
“Mind if I have this dance, my lady? ” The fellow flirted with her.
Brielle blushed at this man and gave him the freedom to hold her close. “I can’t say no to a gentleman like yourself,” She flirted back, wrapping her arms around his neck.
When I saw this…
“That’s it.”
Giving no damn about who was looking, I walked up to Brielle and pulled her away from this man.
“What the hell, Argon?” Brielle groaned at my action, looking at me.
I didn’t answer her but tried to take her away from there. Only for me to be pulled back by the fellow she was about to dance with.
“Hey, what was that for, Mr Groom? ” The latter questioned my action, trying to pull Brielle out of my hold.
Unexpectedly, I grabbed his collar and tossed him to the ground with my strength, getting everyone gasping out in shock.
“Stay away from her!” I roared, holding Brielle close.
“Argon! What are you doing?!” I heard Alpha Deron’s voice but didn’t look at him.
My eyes were hovering around the shocked guests and press, but it came settling on Brielle, the main cause of this drama.
She stared at me in surprise.
“Come with me, ” I said, pulling her out of the party and straight into the mansion.
“What is wrong with you, Argon?!” She questioned, trying to pull her hand out of my hold, but I didn’t allow it.
I took Brielle into a quiet corner in my mansion and held her against the wall, roaring at her. “Are you mad?! You were busy dancing with all those ugly fools! Didn’t you see the lust in their eyes for you?! What were you thinking?!”
“And how’s that your business?” She slammed my hands off her arms, poking me hard on the chest.
“This is your engagement party, not mine. Is it now a crime to dance?”
“Dancing is not a crime, but in such a dress and before all those men… In fact, I don’t want to see you outside until this party is over!”
“Are you crazy?! Who do you think you are?!”
“I AM YOUR HUSBAND!”
“EX-HUSBAND, ARGON, EX!” Brielle roared back, standing up to me.
“Don’t forget you have signed the divorce papers already. We are no longer together, so don’t think you can control me!”
I was filled with raged. I wanted to speak back at her, but Brielle was prepared for anything.
“Don’t you ever repeat that nonsense with me, Argon. I am not your wife. Your wife is sitting out there, probably crying after seeing how you dragged another woman away, instead of sitting with her.”
Estelle? Shit!
Brielle pushed me aside and stormed out of the mansion, heading back to the party.
Knowing she was returning to the dance floor to resume with her drama, I decided to stay back in the mansion.
Who knows what I’d do when I see her in another man’s arms?
“She’s stubborn! Very stubborn!” I grumbled, heading for the staircase.
