CHAPTER 92

ARGON
The date was fixed.
I decided to accept the same date Estelle had planned for us to wed, taking it to the public immediately.
Jerome assisted me with this task. He took the message to the internet and uploaded it for everyone to see.
And it didn’t take too long for the media to see and take it up to the news, revealing to everyone about my upcoming wedding to Estelle.
Jerome had shown me the news report and how the press made my wedding plans the face of the news.
“Let them talk. Isn’t that what they wanted? They want an answer and I’ve given it to them. They are all invited to my wedding,” I said, sounding tough before my beta.
He just nodded at me, saying, ” You have done well, Alpha. I’m sure when you and Estelle settle down, the press will have nothing to talk about any more.”
“I hope so,” I muttered, stepping away from Jerome and heading for the stairs.
I didn’t climb but waited at the bottom, glancing at the top then back at my point.
“Where is she?” I wondered, drumming my fingers on the banister.
I am waiting for Brielle to come down stairs so she can hear the update from my mouth. I know I saw her close to her bedroom while I was making my way downstairs.
And just then, she showed up from above, looking at a piece of paper while coming down the stairs.
As soon as I spotted her…
“Have you shared the news with Alpha Deron?” I questioned Jerome loudly, pretending to be talking to him, so Brielle would hear us.
My beta didn’t quite understand me on time, but soon grabbed what I was saying.
“Oh, I haven’t. I will do that now.”
“Yes, please tell them about the great news. In two weeks, Estelle and I will be getting married,” I raised.
And it did the trick.
“Really?” Brielle asked, standing close to me.
I looked at her and acted like one that didn’t see her coming at first. I had my shoulders raised, while leaning on the banister.
“You heard me right. The wedding is in two weeks. I thought it was high time I set the date than delaying,” I shared with pride creeping across my face.
The stunned look on Brielle’s face filled me with delight. I bet she’s upset to hear this from my own mouth.
But to my surprise…
“Praise the goddess!” She cheered loudly, raising her arms into the air.
“Now that is a great news. I hope you’ve announced this to the public? Let them know now before the D day. That should silence them from mocking you adorable couples again.” She grinned at me, shrieking in excitement.
Again with the smiles and cheers! It was getting on my nerves!
Provoked by this, I said to Brielle, glaring at her, “You can keep your fake happiness to yourself. I know you’re only trying to make me think you care, but I know you don’t.”
That statement wiped Brielle’s smiles immediately. Her brow lifted at me, asking, ” Again with this attitude? Why are you suddenly attacking me, Argon? Is it now a crime to rejoice with my ex-husband?”
“That’s the thing. I don’t know if you’re really happy for me or just pretending to be. I mean… I’m talking about my wedding to the woman of my dreams. You are my ex-wife and you’re just acting like someone who is happy to see her place being taken. Who knows what’s behind that smile of yours?” I pointed, glowering at Brielle.
Her eyes came wide a bit, as she gave out a light chuckle and said, “How amusing. Yesterday you were being all nice towards me, and now you sound like your old self.”
She drew away from my point, smiling at my sudden change of behavior.
“Whether you believe me or not, I will still carry out my promise and leave for good. If you’ll excuse me, I have a date with a wedding plan.”
She turned her back at me and exited the mansion.
I groaned at this but managed to calm my mood. “We shall see about that, Brielle.”
.
Now that the news has been casted, the councils sent a message to me, showing their gladness in my final decision.
They didn’t miss the opportunity to remind me of the throne and how prepared they are to get Wolf Crest a new Alpha, if Brielle denies me of my title.
That became a problem for me. With the way things are going between Brielle and I, I feared she might give the throne to someone else.
“Is that why she always smiles when I yell at her? I feel that’s the reason.” I suspected, feeling uncomfortable.
That evening, I called Alpha Deron and Estelle over to my mansion, and even invited one of the best designers in the pack, to help Estelle plan her dress.
Both father and daughter were thrilled by this. Estelle was over the moon.
She sat with the designer, who began to show her all the best attires they have, while I stood away from them, close to the door of the living room, peeping out numerous times.
“Baby, don’t you like this design?” Estelle had asked, showing me the catalogue which had all the best wedding dresses there.
All I did was hum, hiding my disinterest to her excitement. “It’s beautiful. Take whatever you want,” I said, glancing towards the entrance of the mansion then back at Estelle.
Alpha Deron soon came to stand with me, showing his happiness to my plans. “You can see that the goddess is really with us. After all the battles you and Estelle went through, you two are finally getting married. I am so happy, my son.”
He placed his hand on my shoulder.
And the moment he did that, I spotted Brielle stepping into the mansion.
That triggered me at once, as I began to act like an idle son-in-law to Alpha Deron, raising my voice and also expressing my happiness to this marriage.
“I want my Estelle to look so beautiful in the best wedding dress. She must be the main attraction that day, ” I said loudly, causing Estelle to blush at me.
But my main target was Brielle. She had stopped when she heard my voice, and even looked my way.
I pretended not to see her and kept talking to a jovial Deron. But when I looked at her point, she was gone.
She must have stormed away before I could see her angry face. No woman can stand to watch her husband making plans for another woman. She’s trying so hard to hide her true feelings.
With Brielle gone, I switched from a jovial man to a lost wolf. Even Deron noticed the sudden switch and asked what had happened.
I didn’t say anything to him. I stayed quiet.
A few minutes later, after Estelle had selected the dress she wanted for her big day, I got a call from Sir Derek, my business partner.
Delighted, I answered the line, expressing my delight in seeing his call. “Whenever you call, I always feel honored to have you as my partner, sir.” I chuckled.
But Sir Derek was neither laughing nor sounding please with me. Instead, he asked, ” So, is it true that you are getting married to that woman?”
I froze in my spot, sensing the disappointment in his voice.
“Yes, I am. The wedding is in two weeks time. And you are invited as my special guest,” I announced, just to get him to rejoice with me.
Still, Sir Derek didn’t sound moved one bit.
He sighed from his end and said, “And here I thought you and Brielle were already getting along, making plans to… ” He paused.
That statement made my whole body shiver. I took my mind to Brielle, thinking of her decision to leave the pack.
“Forget it. Congratulations on your wedding. Just make sure you’re doing the right thing.”
“Of course, I…”
BEEP! He ended the call on me, giving me no chance to complete my words.
It was clear from his behavior. Sir Derek isn’t happy with this arrangement.
But what do they want from me? This is what I want.
“Everytime Brielle this, Brielle that… The world doesn’t revolve around her! They all need to accept my decision, whether they like it or not.”
I was slowly losing it, but wiped it off when Estelle and her father came over to say their goodbye.
They were heading back home.
“I wanted to stay, but Daddy feels it’s best I go home, ” Estelle said, hugging me.
I agreed with Alpha Deron’s words and told her to go with her father. Not that I can’t allow her to stay with me, I just don’t want to lose my temper when she’s around.
I don’t want any drama this night.
I escorted them to their car and bade them goodbye, watching their vehicle exiting my home.
Once they were out of sight, I found myself thinking about the whole plans I have made… And about Brielle.
Two weeks.
In two weeks my fate would be decided by her.
Oh Goddess.
