His words were like a bomb dropped on Jasper’s head, leaving him dazed and buzzing.
Jasper’s smile instantly froze, his expression one of utter shock, as if he had just swallowed something vile. Blinking in disbelief, he stammered, “Old Mr. Vincent, you must be mistaken, right? I… I’m Beckett Robinson’s son. If anyone should kneel, it’s him, not me!”
The crowd, watching closely, couldn’t believe their eyes. What was going on? Why would Mr. Robinson be asked to kneel? Surely, it should be that fool. Had Old Mr. Vincent lost his mind? Some people wanted to step in and correct him, but no one dared to speak up.
“Kneel!” Coleman glared at Jasper, roaring, “Don’t think just because you’re Beckett’s son you’re exempt. Even Beckett himself would have to kneel.”
Jasper’s legs began to tremble, and his entire body shook. He glanced around at the onlookers. If he knelt, it wouldn’t just be his own face he was losing, but his father Beckett’s as well. But if he didn’t kneel, he’d be making an enemy of Coleman Vincent.
With a look of defiance, Jasper asked, “Old Mr. Vincent, I truly don’t understand why I should kneel. Can you please give me a reasonable explanation?”
“An explanation?” Coleman was taken aback. This little brat was on the brink of death and still had the nerve to ask for an explanation. He wanted to tell him that he had offended someone who could easily have him and his father killed, but in the end, he didn’t say it.
He merely nodded slightly and said, “I can’t tolerate anyone who threw their weight around. Since you lose your bet, you should pay it. Mr. Scott and Mrs. Scott are my guests. Is that reason enough?”
Jasper felt as if his perceptions were being turned upside down. Kayden and Georgia were his invited guests? What did they do to deserve that? But he didn’t dare ask further and instead prepared to kneel, his legs trembling uncontrollably.
Just then, a sudden commotion erupted outside. The sound of horns blaring-seemingly from countless cars at once-filled the air.
The butler rushed in from outside, his voice quivering as he reported to Coleman, “Sir, eighty-eight Bentleys have just arrived outside.”
The room instantly exploded with noise.
Eighty-eight Bentleys arriving together. What kind of scene was this? Was this billions of dollars worth of cars parading down the street?
In Hiphia, who could possibly be so extravagant as to mobilize eighty-eight Bentleys at once? This had to be unprecedented in the city’s history. Though everyone present was worth billions, even tens of billions, there were very few who could have billions worth of Bentleys parading down the street.
Could it be that Beckett had heard his son was in trouble and sent people here?
Indeed, Beckett was capable of such a feat, able to mobilize a hundred Bentleys at a moment’s notice, especially given that Beckett had the backing of the Atkinson family.
Apart from Beckett, there was one other who could do it-the head of Hiphia’s most powerful family, the Ford family. But the Ford family and Coleman Vincent had always stayed out of each other’s way, so it wasn’t likely the Fords.
As everyone speculated wildly, a group of men in black suits entered from outside. These men were all sharp and imposing, wearing black sunglasses, looking like they belonged to some elite security firm.
Once inside, they immediately lined up in two rows, then, in unison, shouted, “Lewis Henderson, head of the Henderson family of Inassea, congratulates Old Mr. Vincent on the great success of his century-old family business and presents eighty-eight Bentleys as a gift.”
Everyone present gasped in envy. Eighty-eight Bentleys were quite a gift from the Henderson family of Inassea, proving about Old Mr. Vincent’s influence. The Henderson family was the second most powerful family in Inassea, only behind the Atkinson family led by Fletcher Atkinson. Their head, Lewis Henderson, was a big shot.
“Congratulations, Old Mr. Vincent,” A woman’s voice suddenly rang out from outside.
The voice was melodious and pleasant, and just from the sound of it, it was clear that this was a beautiful woman.
Soon after, a woman entered, walking between the two rows of bodyguards.
As soon as she walked in, many people’s eyes widened in amazement.
She was stunningly beautiful, with long, silky black hair cascading down her back. Her features were delicate, and her eyes were clear and bright, like crystal-clear water, reflecting an aura of wisdom. Just a blink from her seemed to stir countless hearts. Her graceful figure was like that of a celestial being, unpolluted by the dust of the mortal world.
Her beauty could only be described as Perfect.
Her aura was overwhelming. As she walked through the crowd, her gaze was fixed straight ahead, without even glancing at anyone around her, as if she were a goddess far above, indifferent to the actions of mere mortals.
All the men were left gaping, while the women looked on with envy.
Many women thought to themselves, ‘We’re all women, so why is she so noble and elegant, while I’m so ordinary?’
She represented the Henderson family because she had married Lewis’s son, Arthur Henderson.
Unfortunately, Arthur was weak and had died of illness less than a month after their marriage, leaving Sariah a widow. Due to her beauty and her unapproachable demeanor, she had earned the nickname “Ice Widow.”
As Sariah appeared, the room erupted in even more excitement, with everyone’s attention drawn to her. Even Jasper, who had been trembling in fear, was now staring in awe.
“Sariah is incredibly beautiful, like a peerless beauty, unmatched in her elegance.”
“Yeah, if I could spend just one night with her, I’d be willing to live ten years less.”
Coleman, however, was not overly excited. He merely glanced at her indifferently before shifting his gaze back to Jasper. The Henderson family, Sariah Faulkner, even the eighty-eight Bentleys-they were all trivial in his eyes.
To Coleman, the most important thing right now was to avenge Kayden.
With Kayden present, how could he allow himself to be distracted by anything else?
Looking at the stunned Jasper, he snorted and shouted, “Jasper, are you still not kneeling?”
Jasper shuddered all over, his whole body trembling. He had thought that with Sariah’s arrival, the attention would be diverted, allowing him to escape his predicament. But instead, it had all come back to this.
At that moment, Sariah, intrigued by the commotion, began walking over and asked, “What’s going on, Old Mr. Vincent? Has something happened?”
As she approached, the crowd instinctively parted to make way for her.
Coleman responded, “Just handling some business here, Ms. Faulkner. Please feel free to make yourself comfortable.”
“And who is this?” Sariah’s gaze fell on Jasper as she asked.
“Ms. Faulkner, I’m Beckett’s son,” Jasper quickly replied,
“Beckett? You mean Beckett Robinson, the one supported by the Atkinson family?” Sariah asked.
Jasper nodded repeatedly, “Yes, yes, I’m Beckett Robinson’s son.”
Knowing that she recognized his father, Jasper thought this might just be his saving grace. He hurriedly pleaded, “Ms. Faulkner, could you please help me?”
“I still don’t know what’s going on.” Sariah responded.
Jasper quickly explained the situation. After hearing it, she said, “I’ve long heard that you’re a man of gallantry. I wonder who dared make a bet with you.”
Jasper’s eyes lit up at her words. Did she imply that she would stand up for him? Elated, he pointed at Kayden and exclaimed, “It’s him!”
Sariah’s gaze followed Jasper’s pointing finger and locked onto a pair of eyes from a man staring back at her.
Georgia’s heart skipped a beat, and she nervously grabbed Kayden’s hand. This woman’s aura was too strong. Despite being hailed as the most beautiful woman in Hiphia, Georgia suddenly felt insignificant, her confidence waning instantly.
Kayden knew exactly where Sariah’s powerful aura came from. It was the aura of someone who had been on the battlefield. This was the kind of presence exuded by a warrior.
This woman was none other than one of his Zodiac Generals, Wood Faulkner!
Yes, this woman was Wood Faulkner who had been searching for Kayden for three long years, the only female general under his command.
Wood stared at Kayden, her gaze seemingly flickering with recognition. She slowly began to walk toward him.
Seeing this, many people widened their eyes in anticipation, eager to see what would happen next. With Sariah involved, the drama was only getting more interesting.
As she approached Kayden, Georgia instinctively took a half-step back, tugging on Kayden’s hand.
Coleman’s brow furrowed unconsciously. Was Sariah planning to interfere with the Defender of the South’s business?
He was just about to scold Sariah and tell her to leave, but before he could open his mouth, Sariah spoke up, “Kneel. You indeed should kneel.”
Hearing her words made everyone’s hearts skip a beat. They began to wonder if Sariah had some sort of connection with Jasper or perhaps had taken a liking to him.
A faint smile immediately appeared on Jasper’s face. He instinctively glanced at Coleman, as if to say, “See? Even Sariah is on my side.”
Sariah Faulkner represented the Henderson family of Inassea. No matter how powerful Coleman was, he couldn’t be much more powerful than the Henderson family.
He let out a smug humph and shouted at Kayden, “Did you hear that? Hurry up and kneel.”
But suddenly, a heavy kick landed on his knee, sending him stumbling backward several steps.
Immediately after, Sariah turned her head and clearly stated, “I was telling you to kneel.”
