Joey wipes his eyes as he turns his head away from everyone to take a second and breathe while Elder Collins hands me the same paper and I read it out, vowing all the same things he vowed me. When I finish, I hand the paper back and take his other hand in mine after stuffing the tissue in my pocket.
Will you, Joseph, take this man to be your wedded husband ? Collins asks, motioning to the both of us as I stare at my man with a huge smile on my face.
I will, Joey whispers.
Will you, Kade, take this man to be your wedded husband ?
I nod my head, never been prouder to say two little words that held my whole world in its hands. I will.
Rings ? Elder Collins says, turning to little Rose, who was Joey’s cousin that we asked to be the flower girl and hold the rings for us. She steps forward, handing the rings to the elder before going back to sit on her mom’s lap, who was Joey’s aunt, Lila’s sister.
We were both handed a ring and I inspect the ring that I bought Joey about seven months ago, proposing to him since he did the same to me. Even though I was already planning the wedding, I wanted him to know that I was so excited to marry him that I bought him a ring for him to show that I was going to be his in a short amount of time. I stare at the ring, loving that he was obsessed with it just like I was with mine when he proposed. I know he loves gold so I got him a gold band with a square diamond on the front since I knew he didn’t want anything too flashy with lots of diamonds.
Joseph, as you place this ring on Kade’s finger, please repeat after me : I give you this ring, as a daily reminder of my love for you, Collins says.
Joey reaches out, grabbing my left hand before sliding the beautiful silver ring onto my finger. I give you this ring, as a daily reminder of my love for you.
Kade, as you place this ring on Joey’s finger, please repeat after me : I give you this ring, as a daily reminder of my love for you, Collins tells me and I do what he says, repeating the saying and placing the gold band on my man’s finger.
By the power of your love and commitment, and the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and husband ! You may kiss each other ! Elder Collins says with as much excitement as everyone feels.
Everyone starts to clap and celebrate as Joey wraps his hand around my neck, pulling my lips against his as we start our marriage together. He smiles against my lips as I do the same, happy that we were finally husband and husband after all of the things we’ve had to endure. I pull away from the kiss, setting my forehead against his as I looked into his eyes to see pure happiness settled in them.
I love you, I whisper to him.
I love you too, my husband.
Later in the evening, us and all our guests stood underneath the tent that held Joey’s cousins, aunts, uncles, friends along with everyone I invited. We had an amazing catering selection dinner of any type of meat you wanted along with sides of vegetables and free drinks. Joey and I sat at a table with my parents, his parents, and the members of our wedding party, celebrating the day together in happiness.
It is now time for the grooms to have their dances with their mothers who have been waiting for this exciting time all night, the DJ said from his booth that was filled with equipment. Joey and I stood up, finding our mothers for the dance that they’ve been waiting for all day. I grabbed my mom’s hand and pulled her to the dance floor, following behind Joey and his mother. I took her hand in mine and set my hand on her waist as she set hers on my shoulder, looking into my eyes.
I am so proud of you, she whispers to me with more tears in her eyes.
I am so proud of you too, I tell her, earning a confused look as she comprehends what I say.
For what ?
You accepted me when I told you that my freaking boyfriend was a werewolf and he ran a pack of over 600 people and I was to stand by his side, be called an alpha, and run the pack with him. That’s kinda amazing that you accepted that and you still accept him, I tell her, chuckling as she lets out a laugh and shakes her head.
You were happy and that’s all that mattered to me when you told me. For 18 years before Joey came into your life, I had never seen you as happy than you are right now and that’s what made all the worry worth it, she tells me.
You’ve helped me grow into someone I’m proud to be, so thank you. You’re the best mother anyone could ask for, I love you, I whisper to her, setting my forehead against hers.
I’ve cried too much today, Kade, she warns me, putting her head up to keep the tears in her eyes as I chuckle. She looks back at me with a soft smile, setting our foreheads back together. but you’ve grown into a wonderful young man since you were born and you’ve made me a proud mother. You’re the best son anyone could ask for.
We keep talking until the song ends and my dad comes onto the dance floor to dance with my mom while Conner does the same with his wife. Joey walks over to me, holding his hand out and bowing slightly to be funny. May I have this dance, my beautiful husband ?
I chuckle, reaching out a grabbing his hand as he pulls me into his chest as others join us on the dance floor. I notice that Emilie comes onto the dance floor with one of Joey’s pack members, who he had a close relationship with the family and decided to invite to the reception. I watch as my little sister wraps her arms around his shoulders as she makes him laugh by saying something.
How many kids do you want ? We should start early, Joey asks, taking me out of my trance of staring at my little sister dance with some boy.
I chuckled, shaking my head. We just got married, Joey. Let’s wait about a week before we even start talking about kids.
He nodded his head. Sounds like a plan.
He set his head against my forehead before giving me a soft, passionate kiss that left my whole body tingling with those amazing sparks that I’ve felt ever since he pushed me against my car. I wasn’t embarrassed that that’s how we first met, basically, because it ended out working for us in the end and I was forever grateful for it.
What if we went back in time to a year ago and I told you that in a year you would be married to a werewolf six months after you graduate from high school ? He asks, slightly swaying to the music as he gives me a questioning look.
I would’ve slapped the shit out of you, I tell him, making both of us laugh out loud.
He sets his forehead against mine again as we tune out everyone else in the room to just focus on the person in front of us. He gives me a soft smile as his electric blue eyes stare into mine. My beautiful husband.
I lightly poke his chest, biting my lip before kissing his cheek. My gorgeous husband.
