Okay, I croak out, lifting my head again to wipe my tears away before pulling him to his closet. I take out some of his joggers and a t-shirt for him to change into while I do the same from the stuff that’s in my bag. Once we’re done changing, he guides me to his bed where we lay down in each others arms while we wait for my family to get there.
After a few minutes laying on the bed with our noses against each other, we hear loud screams outside. Joey immediately shoots up to run out his bedroom to see what’s going on as I follow behind him. When we get out the door, we notice Conner with his phone up to his ear as someone’s yelling through it.
Dad, what’s going on ? Joey asks.
Conner shakes his head at whatever was happening through the phone before hanging up and putting it in his pocket. There was a car following Cody after they left the house and they assumed that it was just a coincidence, but they followed him to the camp. We assume they’re rogues, so we need to get up there because Kade’s family is still in the car.
Joey nods his head before turning towards me to give me a rough kiss before looking down at me. I love you, I’ll be back.
I love you too, be careful, please, I whisper to him before he gives me a nod and follows his father out the door as Lila comes over to me as I wrap my arm around her shoulder as we watch our boys leave into what could become a war if the rogues keeps attacking us like this.
We walk over to sit on the couch as Lila holds both of my hands in hers before she bows her head to start praying, like she usually did when stuff like this happened. I stayed quiet in respect to wait until she lifted her head again as she whispered incoherent things to herself. When she’s done, she looks up at me with a worried look. Do you think they’ll be okay ?
I don’t know, but all we can do is hope for the best, she tells me.
My mom, dad, sister, grandparents, and boyfriend were out there in immediate danger while all I could do was sit here and give them my positive thoughts and hope for the best. I felt so worthless and I had to keep my hand in Lila’s to keep myself from doing something stupid like thinking I could be the hero and run out there and save everyone. This wasn’t some fairytale where I was invincible and could do whatever I pleased. This was real life and I needed to start remembering that.
Are you okay ? You have a lot of people out there, Lila whispers, tightening her grip on my hands. I nod my head, not being able to speak at the moment as my throat tightened and a nauseous feeling washed over my entire body.
All of a sudden, a huge pain went through my stomach as blood started to seep through my shirt as I fell to the ground, letting go of Lila’s hands as I started to scream out in pain. I could tell that the woman in front of me was starting to freak out as she watched me go through an unexplainable pain that didn’t make any sense as to why it was happening because we were safe, inside of the house.
Kade, Kade ! What’s going on ? She asks me as she kneels next to my writhing body as a hand went up to cover the spot that was now seeping blood everything felt like it was being ripped open by each patch of skin that covered my body.
I bit down on my lip to stop myself from screaming as Lila shot up to grab a towel from the laundry room before pressing it against my stomach after slowly lifting up my shirt to see the damage of whatever just happened. I saw her completely confused look, but she continued to press down on the bleeding wound as I whimpered every time she would move as I gripped the couch cushion with my hands to grab onto something.
Lila kept one hand on the towel that laid over my body before pulling out her phone, which she was now covering in blood as she touched it. I reached down to set my hand on top of hers that was still pressing against the cloth covering my stomach. I listened as the phone rang and rang until someone finally picked up and it sounded like Conner who was asking if everything was okay.
No, something happened. We need Doctor Moore over here now, something’s seriously wrong ! She cries into the phone as she looked down at me with a worried look.
I started to feel numb with tingles running over my whole body and I didn’t even feel the pain anymore as it felt like I was being cradled by someone as my eyes started to flutter close. I shot my eyes open, knowing that I needed to stay awake right now, not only for me but to make sure Lila was okay and didn’t freak out too much as she threw her phone to the ground before putting more pressure on my stomach that I still didn’t even feel right now.
Kade, you keep your eyes open, do you hear me ? Please, stay with me, she cried as her eyes stare into mine as my entire body started to feel cold along with the tingles that made my entire body feel itchy even though I was too tired to even move.
After a few minutes of her just staring at me, the front door opened as Cody, Conner, and a few more men that I had no idea who they were ran in. When Cody sees me laying on the ground with blood pouring from my stomach, he took a step back as he put his hands up with a super confused look on his face. Did someone come in here ?
Lila shakes her head as tears fall down her face. No, this just happened ! I don’t know what’s going on, but someone fucking help him !
That’s when everything goes black.
