As Chris drove off, he tried to understand why he felt so down…why he felt as if Shane was taking a part of his soul with him to New York. He felt as though he was losing Shane all over again. For a moment he contemplated going to hang out with his guys at Kyle’s house where they were all supposed to meet that day. But on second thought, Chris drove home because he felt he would be better off by himself, as besides the fact that he wouldn’t be good company in the shitty mood he was in, he needed some sleep.
When he got home, Chris jumped into bed and tried to sleep but sleep wouldn’t come. His mind wandered, thinking about all that had taken place the day before, the sexual hunger between him and Shane, Shane’s nightmares, how he’d broken down in Shane’s arms, and how right Shane had felt in his arms. Chris couldn’t help but miss Shane. He’d wanted to hug Shane as they said goodbye to each other but didn’t know how the other man would take that so he hadn’t.
After their momentary intimacy the night before, they’d merely talked and hung out like two old friends and nothing more, that morning. One thing Chris couldn’t deny was the fact that Shane turned him on like no woman ever had. The man’s body was a masterpiece. Chris had surprisingly found himself with a hard-on at different times that morning whilst they talked but had tried to suppress it. One time, he’d watched as Shane bit his lower lip whilst deep in thought, and had instantly gone hard.
Sometimes all the man had to do was laugh softly and then BAM…Chris would be crossing his legs. Shane was as sexy as all fuck. Unknowing to Shane he’d had Chris so horny, he thought he would explode. Just thinking about Shane was giving Chris a hard-on and that pissed him off because what he needed was sleep. With a groan, Chris stood up and stripped out of his clothes, and then got beneath the covers. In no time, he was snoring softly.

Immediately the pilot informed his lone occupant that they were about to land, Shane reached for his cell phone, ready to call Chris immediately they touched down. Though he was glad he was about to see his mother, he couldn’t help but wish Chris were with him. He’d missed Chris so much he knew just hearing his voice would raise his spirits. Was it even normal to be missing a person so much, Shane wondered.
That look of stark longing on Chris’ face moments before they had parted ways had been so hot Shane couldn’t get it out of his mind. But then, Chris had always been a sexy guy. He’d never had to put in much effort to get Shane to drool with want. Shane gave a low groan, surprised at how the mere thought of Chris made his heartbeat with excitement as if he were a teen with a crush. What were his employees and the business world going to think, if they saw him pining away after someone as he was doing then? Fuck!
Shane started dialing Chris’ number as soon as he felt the plane touch down. Chris picked up on the third ring and from the groggy sound of his voice, Shane knew he’d been sleeping.
“Shane?” Chris croaked.
“Go back to sleep,” Shane said softly, a feeling of joy surging within him at the sound of Chris’ voice.
“No, no, please let’s talk.” Chris husked, sitting up and rubbing his eyes. He was damned if he was going to let Shane go.
“Chris, get some sleep. I only wanted to inform you that I’ve touched down. I’ll call again before I go to bed okay?”
Chris wasn’t okay with that. He wanted to keep Shane on the line…keep talking to him… “Shane…” But Chris trailed off before he could reduce himself to pleading. “Okay.” He said with a soft sigh.
“I will call again,” Shane said softly.
Chris nodded and then murmured a soft “okay” when he remembered that Shane couldn’t see his nod. Immediately the line clicked off in his ear, Chris felt lonely. But reassuring himself that he would hear Shane’s voice again soon, Chris slipped back under the covers and went right back to sleep.
Shane couldn’t wipe the goofy smile off his face as he hung up. He felt a warm glow inside…as though he was on top of the world. Chris did that to him. Even when they were kids, Shane would catch himself smiling for no reason even when Chris wasn’t around him. No wonder his mother had caught on. What surprised Shane was the fact that Chris could still do that to him after all these years. Before he saw Chris again, just the thought of Chris caused his heart to pound hard in anger and fear.
But for the past two weeks, all it took was a thought of Chris for Shane to act like a smitten fool. Shane knew he was being stupid with the way he was feeling but he just couldn’t help himself. Yes, Chris had hurt him before and could hurt him again, though this time, definitely not physically…but Shane just didn’t care. He was happy. After all these years, he had an inner feeling of joy that he’d never had since he was a kid and he wasn’t ready to throw that away simply because of something that happened years ago.
Shane Lewis wanted to live for once. Was that too much to ask? As Shane got out of his private plane and walked towards his car, he couldn’t stop the movement of his fingers. He typed a short message to Chris, knowing Chris wouldn’t see it till later if he’d gone back to sleep as he’d asked him to. God, he’d missed the guy, Shane thought with a shake of his head and a sad smile on his face. He knew he had it real bad.
