Upon hearing this, Chris Shelby narrowed his eyes. Three years prior, Dull’s father, the former leader of Knights’ Liberty, had slain several Amerosia warriors on the battlefield, igniting Chris Shelby’s wrath. Chris Shelby traveled alone to Oxwoods and swept through Knights’ Liberty, personally killing Dull’s father. That battle had turned the entirety of Oxwoods upside down!
Unexpectedly, three years had passed and Dull had kidnapped his own wife, seeking vengeance for his father. Excellent! Since Dull sought death, Chris Shelby would grant it to him! This time, Chris Shelby intended not only to kill Dull but also to annihilate the entire Knights’ Liberty.
Chris Shelby glanced at a little girl nearby and said to Lynx, “Lynx, take care of this little girl.” Since Chris Shelby was about to lead a campaign against Knights’ Liberty, it was unwise to bring along a burden. Thus, entrusting the little girl to Lynx was the best solution. Lynx nodded in agreement, “Yes!” However, Lynx was curious where Chris Shelby had found the little girl. Upon hearing Chris Shelby’s words, the little girl’s frown was almost imperceptible.
Moments later, Chris Shelby, along with Dragon and others, departed. Oxwoods was an island nation surrounded by the sea. Amidst the vast ocean, there were many islands, and the main base of Knights’ Liberty was situated on one such island called Knights’ Isle. Though not very large, the island had been fortified by Knights’ Liberty and housed nearly thirty thousand members, along with various heavy weaponry.
After being kidnapped, Esther was brought to the island. Realizing she was on a strange island, Esther felt a surge of despair. She wondered if she was doomed to spend her life on this island. Previously, Esther had thought that Chris Shelby would come to rescue her. But now, taken to an unknown island, how would Chris Shelby know her location? The mercenaries guarding Esther were fully armed and radiated a murderous aura.
Esther asked, “What do you want from me? How much money will it take for you to let me go? Just let me go, and I’ll pay whatever amount you ask for!” However, regardless of what Esther said, the guards paid her no heed, which infuriated her. By this time, Esther was in despair. Since her abduction, she had not eaten at all. She felt nauseous and dizzy.
Esther thought of Chris Shelby; when he was around, he would solve any problem that arose. Suddenly without Chris Shelby, Esther felt utterly insecure. Yet, at every critical moment before, Chris Shelby had appeared; would he come to save her this time? Esther couldn’t help but smirk bitterly, yet she firmly believed that Chris Shelby would indeed come to her rescue. The thought of Chris Shelby coming to save her filled Esther with a desire to survive. “I can’t die! I haven’t seen Chris Shelby yet, I haven’t seen Hope, how can I possibly die?” With this thought, Esther suddenly shouted, “I’m hungry, I need to eat!”
Now, Esther’s priority was to eat well. Otherwise, by the time Chris Shelby arrived, she might starve to death here. The guard glanced at her, then brought her a few stale buns. Under normal circumstances, Esther, now the chairman of Chester Group used to delicacies, would scoff at such food.
At that moment, Esther was indeed famished. She couldn’t care less and grabbed a steamed bun, devouring it eagerly. After eating, Esther gradually regained some strength. She sat on the ground and began to observe her surroundings. It appeared to be a dungeon, guarded by fully armed personnel outside. Moreover, the entire island was staffed with armed mercenaries. Escaping from here seemed an impossible task. Esther had no choice but to pray for Chris Shelby to come and rescue her.
Meanwhile, not far from the island, a large submarine progressed beneath the water’s surface. Suddenly, a periscope emerged from the sea. This submarine, specifically requisitioned from the Amerosia navy by Chris Shelby, was intended for this operation. Phoenix looked at the computer and said, “Boss, the island ahead is the headquarters of Knights’ Liberty, and there are no other ships in the vicinity.” At that moment, Chris Shelby and his three thousand Death Guards were all stationed inside the submarine. Despite Knights’ Liberty’s force numbering thirty thousand, Chris Shelby was undaunted. After all, each of the Death Guards was a top soldier selected from a million-strong army. Three thousand Death Guards were more than capable of confronting thirty thousand Knights’ Liberty mercenaries!
Lynx approached with a map in hand and said, “Boss, this is the map of Knights’ Isle. According to this, we can locate the dungeon where the prisoners are held.” As the head of the Amerosia Springfield Crew, Lynx had his own intelligence channels in Oxwoods. The map was obtained through the Springfield Crew’s branch in Oxwoods. Chris Shelby took the map and frowned, saying, “Knights’ Liberty is one of the top five mercenary groups in the world; it won’t be that simple. Knights’ Isle is their headquarters, and the defenses will be extremely tight. If we enter the island, we will face a counterattack from thirty thousand Knights’ Liberty mercenaries!”
Lynx replied, “Boss, I have made thorough arrangements. To accomplish this mission and rescue the boss’s wife, I had Springfield Crew’s hacker practitioners infiltrate Knights’ Isle’s network and electrical systems. I will disable all networks on Knights’ Isle, rendering cameras and infrared alarms inoperative. At the same time, the island’s power systems will be disabled, but we only have about half an hour. Within that half-hour, we must rescue the boss’s wife, or the network and power systems on Knights’ Isle will recover.”
Even though Lynx could utilize Springfield Crew’s hackers, being one of the world’s top five mercenary groups, Knights’ Liberty certainly had its own hackers. Half an hour was the maximum time they could secure because once Springfield Crew launched a cyber-attack, Knights’ Liberty’s hackers would definitely retaliate. Chris Shelby spoke gravely, “Everyone, rest for now. We move tonight.” Upon hearing this, everyone went to rest. Each person knew that a major battle was impending, and no one took it lightly. Regardless, Knights’ Liberty’s strength as one of the top five mercenary groups was not to be underestimated, and even Chris Shelby needed to be cautious.
Time passed slowly. Soon, the sky gradually darkened. Simultaneously, the three thousand Death Guards were fully prepared.
