Nikolai POV.
I drank my coffee still looking at the girl, I had seen her before in a diner, she was a waitress there, and she looked out of place, I knew she wasn’t like the other, from the way she wore her uniform, to the way she didn’t even try to flirt or show some cleavages, a rare thing in that type of diners. I remember leaving her a big tip, she could use the money, and she seemed to be in need of a bit of help, and I was more than happy to help with that.
I kept sipping from my coffee, enjoying every sip of it, she’s right, it’s a good drink, she has a good taste in coffee. I watched her move around the cafe, I saw her interfere with other customers, and the smile on her face never dropped. I would’ve given my cousin Angelo to have her in my arms right now, I sound like a crazy man, a psychopath, maybe I am one. Who knows, maybe I am a crazy man, no I know I’m a crazy man, but not crazy enough to kidnap an innocent girl because I’m feeling lonely, maybe I do need to go back to the therapist and check with him.
I saw her coming back toward my table, the same smile on her face, except this time she was looking at me, looking at my face, she remembered me, I think.
“I think I know you,” she says all innocently, yes she does remember me, my smile got more prominent now.
“I think you do” I answer, her face scrunching up to a thinking face, she screamed innocence.
“From the diner, you’re the guy that left me a big tip,” she says blushing, I just nod, that’s exactly who I am.
“I hope you spent the money well,” I say trying to start a conversation with her, her smile fell when I mentioned the money, what happened, she doesn’t look like a druggie, nor like an alcoholic but looks can be deceiving, I do look like a gentleman.
“What’s wrong?” I ask when she doesn’t add anything, just frown.
“The money was stolen, I was gonna buy a new timberland shoe” she says looking down at her shoes, she had some boots on, regular boots, from the look they looked high-end shoes, but not her style, if she wanted timberland, these are too plain and girly for that.
“Who stole it from you?” I ask through gritted teeth, is she in some kind of an abusive relationship.
“A guy on the street, I don’t know who he is” she says still frowning this thing clearly has hurt her, even now, she looks well taken care of, and maybe she had an owner.
“I’m sorry princess, I can make it for you” I say, I wouldn’t mind buying her the real shoes.
“Ohh! No” she replies right away blushing, her red cheeks making her look even more innocent, more beautiful.
“Why not?” I asked her back, I wanted to buy her things more than ever now.
“I’m saving up for ones, it’s okay, no need” she adds still blushing, I just nod looking at the pink cheeks, I need help, I need some serious help.
“As long as you are sure princess,” I say with a smile, she smiles back before blushing and walking away from me, even from her side of the cafe I could see her looking at me, blushing every time my eyes caught hers until I was ready to leave. I left the money on the table, instead of the five hundred tips, I left one hundred with a note written on a napkin.
To help with the shoes.
I left the restaurant feeling like a sick psycho, one night I was having sex with a hitman, and the second I was crushing over an innocent girl, she’s way too innocent for someone like me, my darkness would crush her innocence, she can’t survive in my world, it would be the end of her innocence. Sometimes flowers could just be seen and smelled, picking them off the ground would kill them, that’s how things would end if I tried to do something to that girl, I’d kill her innocence, she’s not mine, I just had to leave her be.
I got in my car and drove off toward the club, it’s very cliche but I do own a club, and I have a share in lots of business, but that club was mine alone, it’s where I do most of my work, along with back at home. I do things between the two places but sometimes we have to go to other places, depending on the work we’re conducting.
I made it inside, I parked my car in my reserved place, no one would want to park in the boss’s place, I parked and walked in, although the coffee was delicious, I was now in a sour mood, I was feeling more lonely than I ever been. Why life was this hard on me, can’t a monster like me find his perfect match, somewhere between Devil’s craziness, and the flower innocence, I was asking for the impossible, but that was the thing I wanted in my life.
“Get me a black coffee,” I say walking in, I need something to match my mood, black like my soul, I walked right into my office, Marco following behind me, he just raised a brow at me, he knew I’m not that sour usually, my mood isn’t that bad even on my worse days.
“You okay man?” he asks, that got on my nerves I did let loose a chain of curses, I’m not very happy right now, Marco who’s used to me losing it every now and then just stood and watched me curse the skies.
“That bad I see?” he answers, I just nod, and one of our workers gets in handing me my black coffee, I thank them and take a sip of black coffee, it didn’t have the sweet taste of milk she added to my coffee, it didn’t have the sugar hint either, it didn’t have the hint of her into it.
“Am I that bad of a man Marco?” I ask with a sigh, I was feeling low, I was feeling down, I was lonely.
“You’re a great guy, what are you talking about Nikolai?” Marco asks me with a raised brow, he knows about me being lonely, he knows that my needs are crazy one, no woman in her right mind would want to stay with me. I just shake my head and sit down on my desk deciding on taking my anger off on the paperwork that at least would be a useful way to help with my frustration.
“You’re a good person, Nikolai, I know someone is out there for you” Marco says before ending the soft-hearted conversation, I’ve had enough with emotions for one day, for now, let’s move back to business.
“Did you find out anything about pure blood?” I asked him, are they some kind of a new gang, are they someone who’s new in the country, who are they, those are all the questions I had for now.
“After my research, nothing came up” he says, I look at him with confusion, if something is happening in our city, we should know about it.
“Work on it Marco, they broke our ranks! They got someone inside our house, I want to know who they are” I say angry now, this can’t be happening, not with us.
“I’ll work on it Boss” Marco answered me before leaving my office, my mood got even worse now, I can’t stay in the dark, I’m the boss for a reason, I’m the one in charge.
