I’m old, or that’s what my half brother little likes to tell me, my brother Peter, god bless his soul, he got the patience of a saint, and his little girl Lillie is a test sent from the gods to test him. I love her and all, but he can keep her, I don’t need or want to spend long with her, not when she spends the whole time reminding me that I’m scary and old.
Most of us in the moon and Howl company are related, we’re a big happy family, or at least that includes all of us in power position, the alpha and dominant blood runs through our veins. Thalia is our alpha, I’m her second cousin, and I used to work only as a bodyguard, my main job was off in the protection, I loved that job, to keep my alpha safe and alive, along with the rest of our pack. It’s our job to keep everyone safe, I loved my job, I did everything my alpha and my brother asked me to do, until a little someone stumbeled in my life, I didn’t even mean to see her, but when I did my eyes couldn’t move off her, my mind couldn’t stop thinking of her, my whole world was truning around her.
“You don’t even know her,” Peter my brother, we might be half brothers but he’s my brother, I always count him as one, as does he.
“I’ll get to know her,” I say sounding like a crazy person, a psychopath, but I’m not, we’re wolves, our beast sides knows what they want and they get them.
“You’re not going to kidnap her are you?” Peter asks me making me laugh out loud, oh I would, I would have done that without a second thought, but the little girl wasn’t along in this world, she had a person who’s counting on her, and I can’t let them down, I won’t be the one breaking her heart. As Lillie not so kindly placed it, I’m old, and she’s right, I’m old, old enough to be able to wait for nature to take it’s course and for her to be free without my interference.
“I’ll wait,” I answer him, I can stay in the back, just look, just observe until my perfect to get in comes in, that won’t take long, and even if it did, I had time.
“You’re crazy,” Peter says.
“Thank you,” I answer him, I never claimed to be normal, I prefer being crazy, normal is overrated anyway.
I talked to alpha Thalia, taking time off, I need to focus on her, and her only, her job isn’t safe, but I can make sure no one touches her without her permission, I could obsevre and learn things, time was on my side, I’m here to study her before it’s time for us to meet again, this time, I hope I’ll meet her sober and not drunk.
It took us a while, but nother nature never disappoints, it took two years for the wheel of faith to turn, you’d think I’m cruel and cold, but it’s life, everyone would die when their time comes. Even I would die when my time comes, we’re immortal, but even immortals could die, when the time comes, when we get too tired to get up again, to move and breathe, everything ends, it’s the law of nature.
During my two years of waiting, of studying the little deer, I learned that her favourite colour is purple, she shows every sign of being little but never gives in to being little, it could be her fear of regressing, or maybe being alone? Her life wasn’t an easy one, I wouldn’t risk regressing either, it’s a scary world out there and no one want to be caught in a vulnerable place.
I also learned about her beautiful long locks, I saw how much care she took of her hair, I wanted to get there to touch the long locks, are they as soft as they look they are. She doesn’t always eat, only when she remembers to, she loves her coffee, she lives for her coffee, black, nothing added to it, but she still drinks it.
I also saw the funeral, I saw how broken she was, and I wished for the millionth time to go there, to go hug her, to tell her that she’s fine, that I’m here for her, but I couldn’t she doesn’t know that I’m there, that I’ve been watching her, falling in love with her with every day that passed. I’m not even the worse one in the family, the alpha our big boss, she fell in love with Colin since the second she saw her, she offered him a job only based on his submissive aura and how much she liked the cute boy, and she’s madly in love with him.
Now that the funeral is over, it’s my time to get in the picture, to get her to meet me officially, I had a million plan, I had long time to think it through, but two years are just a blink, I couldn’t manage to get a plan to get her to meet me, talk to me, get to know me without scaring the hell out of her.
“I need help boss,” I tell my alpha, her little is asleep, as is Lillie, both in deep sleep, now that Melody is saved form the roguness disease, she’s back to being our very smart alpha, if anyone can solve any kind of problem, it’s our devil of a boss.
“You want Bambi,” she says with a knowing look, I want her, we bond with people from a first look, one sigh and we’re hooked for lifetime.
“I do,” I say, I thought about hiring her, but that wasn’t the way I want to meet her, I want her old life to be behind and she seem to want the same.
“I can hire her in the company,” Thalia says, under her protection and under her eyes.
“But she won’t take a charity offer,” I warn her, she only take things she worked hard for.
“I’ll make it a real offer, but how to put you in the picture?” she asks me.
“Make him the boss, you know he doesn’t work well under the dominance of anyone but you,” Peter says, he’s right, I’ll only obey my alpha and older brother.
“What do you think about being the new head of the little department? A new project we got,” the alpha suggest, and I was sold.
