Bambi POV.
“Let me tell you about my world,” Ryker starts, I didn’t know much about the world, only the district I live in, only my small world and surroundings.
“Okay,” I say, curious to hear more about any adventure, away from my sick mother and the little to no payment.
“We went on vacation last summer, we went to the vampire district, you won’t believe those bloodsuckers, they are sun sensitive,” Ryker says in a voice that was filled with sarcasm, he was sitting on his desk, while I was still standing.
“Sit down,” he ordered me, wasn’t I supposed to be cleaning? Not listening to his stories, I obeyed him, sitting down, feeling really uncomfortable around him, but obeying out of fear.
“And so the vampires were supposed to take us on a boat trip and believe me you never want to be on a boat with vampires, they are scared of the water, dizzy, and the way they vomit blood, it’s disgusting,” he says, I tried to smile but it was hard, especially when the topic he’s talking about is super shallow and uninteresting.
“And I decided to tan, man you should’ve seen when I asked them to put some oil over my back,” he says laughing before he gets some paper and starts working, I thought that was my cue to leave, he’s busy now, no need for me to stay, when I stood up, he looked at me.
“I should get to work,” I say needing an excuse to leave.
“Yes, of course, work, you can start by organizing my library,” he says pointing behind him, he wants me to work in the same room as him, I had to obey and work in the library, it wasn’t the worse job, it wasn’t tiring as my other jobs, around lunchtime, he sent one of the maids to fetch him lunch.
“Sit down red, eat,” he says, I looked at the food and then at him, my stomach was growling, my mouth was watering seeing so much food, of all variety and shapes and colours.
“No thank you, I don’t want to…” I say trying to explain how I don’t want to be a burden.
“I said sit red, I don’t take disobedience well,” he says in a dominant voice scaring me, I did sit down, and he handed me an empty plate along with a fork and knife. He placed a little of everything on my plate, ordering me to eat it all, I was shy at first, only taking small bites of everything, but every time he looked at me, he smiled, seeing me hardly touching the food even when I’m hungry.
“Take the plates down to the kitchen red, then come back,” he orders me, I nod and pick all the plates and start the walk to the kitchen, once I got there, I saw Eliot standing there waiting for me maybe? But it’s just a coincidence, he couldn’t know I’m coming, I placed the plates where they need to go, he took some of the food and began to eat, just looking at me, with Eliot around, I felt safe to take a couple more bites of the food, which was delicious.
“You keeping Sir Ryker entertained?” he asks me, I blushed, I wasn’t entertaining him in that way, I just sat there with him.
“It’s not that…” I say, my face was completely red.
“It’s fine Red, just stay there, do as he says, who knows maybe this would come out to be something,” those were Eliot’s words.
This might come out to be something, but what kind of something, would he be talking about? Ryker is supernatural, and I’m not, he won’t be looking at me in any way that I want him to look at me, but as the days have been coming and going, I might be changing my mind. It’s weird how things shift, when they got so much money when they could order me, and order the whole house around us, Ryker felt to be the king of the world, mine and his.
“I got you something,” Sir Ryker said in the morning of this day, he’s been giving me rides back and forth to work, I’m not tired anymore since I don’t do much, I just sit with him, hear him talk, most of his stories are stupid, too empty, and uninteresting but I laughed when I had to, smiled when needed, I learned to keep up with him, to do as he expects me to do.
“You didn’t have to Sir,” I say, I’m never to call him Ryker, only sir, and him getting me something had me excited.
“But I did, come here,” he orders me, I did went and stood closer to him, he got me a necklace, a golden necklace, it was tight around my neck closer to being a chocker or a collar, but I loved it, I had nothing like that before.
“Thank you… thank you, sir,” I thanked him still blushing, his hand went around my neck, touching my chest, making my whole body shiver from his cold touch.
“So beautiful red,” he says, making my heart skip a couple of beats.
“Thank you…” I say again, still blushing, no one ever called me beautiful.
“Had you ever had anyone red?” he asks and I shake my head no, I never did.
“Have you ever been kissed?” he asks, I shook my head no, my heart beating a million beats per minute now, would he kiss me? Do I even want to be kissed, back at school girls used to talk about kissing, but I was never kissed before.
“Maybe later?” He says landing a kiss on my cheek instead of the lips, the one that opened with excitement and shock.
“Get to your work red,” he says giving me a pat on the back, I did get to my work, my current job was finding Eliot and telling him all about this.
“He gave you a collar,” he called my necklace looking at it, I just nod, I was just happy to get a gift.
“Ohh, how pretty, I think someone is in love,” he says, but I wasn’t in love with Ryker, well maybe just a little bit.
“I’m not,” I say, my face matching my hair.
“Didn’t he give you chocolate? Allowed you to skip chores? Drove you back and forth, I don’t know what you call that, but I d call it love,” he says, I didn’t know much about love, not when I’m hardly sixteen and still naive.
