In a cool evening, at the Cosa Nostra pack headquarters, in Sicily.
“Mummy! Daddy! Calla found a gun!” A little boy ran into the living room, where Naledi and Caellum sat, sharing a bottle of wine.
Naledi nearly choked on her drink as she shared a tensed look with her mate and husband. “Where is she, Arzen?” She asked, dropped her glass and got on her feet with Caellum right behind her.
“She is playing meet-the-target with the bodyguards outside!” The little child reported, “I asked her to let me play too but she keeps hogging the gun!”
The shocked parents hastened their steps, while the little boy followed them with a tilt to his steps, thinking he was about to watch his little sister get scolded for her refusal to play with him.
With their hearts in their hands, the couple made their way out of the house and sure enough, saw their precious daughter standing in a circle of guards who raised their hands in surrender as she pointed a barrel of gun.
“Why is it not working?” When Naledi saw her first daughter click the gun, she rushed towards her and snatched it from her hands.
“Calla! What did I tell you about playing around in my room?” She scolded the little one, who looked like she was about to cry.
Caellum stood by the side watching their interactions with a smile playing on his lips. He had emptied the bullets inside Naledi’s gun when he noticed his daughter’s affinity to it.
Quickly, Naledi broke the gun and heaved a sigh of relief when she realised there were no bullets inside. The little one who had the gun taken away and broken burst into a fit.
“I wanted to be like mommy!” The youngling cried, “I wanted to shoot the bad guys too.” She managed to say between cries and sniffs.
“Oh leave the little badass alone, Luna.” A pregnant Korah joined the conversation with her husband, Marcus in tow. “I think she has a good aim and who knows, she just might turn out to be the best sniper the Cosa Nostra has had in ages.”
“Are you trying to displace my wife?” Caellum said with a smirk, placing an arm around his wife as he dismissed the guard.
Korah scoffed, “Oh Alpha, we both know the moment you knocked up the Luna, that marked the end of her career as a sniper.”
Caellum shrugged, knowing it was the truth. There was no way in hell he was letting her get back out there, risking her life with the job of a sniper. At the moment, he was still thinking up ways to have her become a sit-at-home wife but taking into account his wife’s refusal to be dependent on him, she still ran a few things in the pack, alongside tending to their twins.
“Just like you would the moment you give birth to our child,” Marcus added dotingly.
The two had somehow managed to figure out they were head over heels in love with each other after a barrage of jealous fits thrown when met with the choice of getting involved with others.
Naledi handed over the gun to one of the guards and ordered that a look-alike toy gun be brought while she doted on her baby girl, stopping her cries.
“Don’t even think about it!” She said to Marcus. “I will personally force you to resign if you think of retiring my girl from her gift.”
“She is my wife,” Marcus said like it made all the difference in the world.
“Just a little more and I’ll be serving you divorce papers, love.” Korah said, caressing her protruded stomach. “These darned pregnancy hormones, makes me want to burn a fucking country to the ground.”
Marcus, Naledi and Caellum’s eyes widened at her words. Ever since she took in, her powers had grown in leaps and bounds. Any little thing and she was everywhere, leaving a trail of burnt things in her wake.
“Just a little more now, baby, and we will have our little bundle of joy.” Her husband said, an attempt to get her mind off whatever that could cause her powers to react.
Korah smiled, “I can’t wait to have her in my arms too,” She turned to Naledi, “I think she will be the perfect partner for Calla.”
Calla who was in her mother’s arms perked up at the sound of her name, the attention was short-lived because she immediately struggled to get down at the sight of a guard holding a similar-looking gun.
Naledi only let her down when she was sure that the gun was fake and her brother who was held by Caellum followed his sister gingerly, looking wrought when he found there was only one gun.
Knowing he was about to throw a hissy fit, Caellum bent down and addressed his son. “I know you want the gun, but I have something even better.”
The little boy looked up with an expectant look on his face. “What is that?”
He beckoned him closer and whispered to his ears. “I will give you my entire estate, the entire Cosa Nostra.”
The little boy made a thinking pose, as though weighing the options. “Does that mean I can take the house? Including Calla’s gun?”
The others watched the father and son duo with a fond look on their face.
“Yes love, but it also comes with responsibility.”
Upon hearing that he could finally have access to his sister’s gun, he was elated and opened his ears to hear what his father had to say.
“You have to protect your sister, and make sure that the Cosa Nostra flourishes under your reign.” Caellum said, “Think you can handle that, big boy?”
Arzen nodded, putting up a big grin. “Yes, daddy. I promise.” He said in a childlike voice. “Does that mean that I get to be Alpha now?”
Caellum shrugged, “If you do your job properly, then maybe I would make you the Alpha sooner than you think. Do we have a deal?”
“Yes, Daddy. I promise to protect Calla, the Cosa Nostra and my mate!”
The others laughed at his bold declaration while Caellum cooed with a pleasant look on his face. “That’s my boy.”
