My Bitch?

CAELLUM’S POV
The Cosa Nostra was under attack!
Smoke filled everywhere as I watched dead bodies drop on the floor from my shots.
I never missed a shot.
It was the third attack on my headquarters since Naledi left. I was having a field day teaching these scumbags a lesson on whom they should be messing with.
With my recent separation, my wolf had gone rabid. All I cared about was the blood of my enemies and the drop of their bodies hitting the floor with cold and lifeless eyes. It was my darkest fantasy come alive.
“Alpha! Behind you!” I heard Marcel’s voice and a fiery hotness consumed a man who thought to kill me from behind.
Korah’s fire burned like never before. Despite their fiery show of loyalty, I wasn’t moved. These days, Nothing moved me. My insides were dead and the only reason I was alive was to exact my revenge on the Yakuza’s.
They fucking took my shipment, and that old fucker had the guts to be smug about it. After I raided and destroyed their territory in the US, it became a full-fledged war. One that I was happy to lead.
What the hell am I living for anyway?
Soon enough, the shoot-out drew to an end and there was silence. We lost a couple of men from my end and eradicated every single enemy in sight. All that was left was the aftermath of the bloodshed.
“Clean this up.” I gritted and made my way into the house, bloodied and sweaty. Matteo was right behind me.
“The Yakuza will not stop until we get to an audience with them,” Matteo said as soon as I entered the office. “We need to stop this war. It’s costing us money that should be used to fix what your former mate ruined.”
“I don’t want to hear it.” I snapped, “I want you to organise some men and return the favour. I want every house, business and investment with the Yakuza’s name to be brought down. I want everything destroyed by the nighttime.”
Matteo looked angry. He remained in his spot like he had something to say.
“Is there something you want to say?” I growled, my wolf hating the thought of him trying to get ahead of himself. “Do speak.”
That did it. Matteo erupted like a motherfucking cannon. “I think you are making a wrong call, Alpha.”
“Expantiate.”
“The Yakuza has our shipment. They have our money and I think the best action we can take is to recover the darned goods. And to do that, we need to have dialogue. The Yakuza have been around for a while and since we were double-crossed thanks to your bitch, we should take the highway and talk about recovery, not continuing this war.”
My jaws tightened. “My bitch?”
He didn’t even look threatened. “That traitor is nowhere to be found. Think about it, after the rejection, she left and as soon as she left, we were attacked, and she was snatched.” Matteo said while I cleaned the barrel of my gun, disassembling it while he spoke.
“I sent men to tail her but there’s been no word whatsoever. It’s like she vanished to thin air.”
“On whose orders did you tail her?” My tone betrayed my anger.
“I thought it was best to keep an eye on her. We should keep our enemies closer. That has always been the protocol.”
A scoff left my lips, “Oh really?” He was smart to shut his mouth. “Since you are so pent-up and frustrated about my former mate, maybe you should go find her.”
“What do you mean?”
“Exactly what you heard.” I bore holes into his head, “Leave and do not come back until you have her in hand.”
“There is a war.”
“And?”
“You need all the help you can get. Especially when you-”
“Come in, Marcus.” I cut him off rudely, and sure enough, the door opened, and Marcus joined us. “You will take over from Matteo’s duties while he goes on an assignment. Think you can handle it?”
Marcus looked at a loss for words, probably shocked at the twist of events. “Yes sir.” He replied after taking quite his moment.
“Good.” My eyes flickered to my Beta, who had more in store for him, only that he didn’t know it yet. “Your mission is effective now, Matteo. I look forward to your messages. You don’t have to worry about anything. I will take care of the war.”
That was the final push he needed to self-destruct. I watched Matteo walk out of my office with squared shoulders. It was only a matter of time before I caught him red-handed.
“Make sure that his every move is recorded. He will lead us to the culprit.”
Marcus nodded, and I walked towards a chessboard, made a move and eliminated the opposing side. I returned to my seat, mentally working on my next step. Before I rejected Naledi, I had set aside a private investigation to look into the case of my missing shipments.
When I found that someone from my end sold Naledi’s information, I didn’t believe it. Until I set a trap and watched my second walk right into it. I had always known that Matteo didn’t favour my ex-mate.
It was clear from their interactions but I chose to turn a blind eye to it regardless of the signs. When I found that Naledi had betrayed me, I felt sick, but when I found that my beta had been instrumental to her betrayal, I felt raw and unadulterated anger.
When the Yakuza struck after the rejection, I knew there was something more, their preciseness and accuracy were too precise to be coincidental. So here I was, testing how deep the treacherous claws had sunk into my beta.
Former beta.
Three days later, I was in my office when I received news from Marcus. Apparently, Matteo was caught trying to call someone from the other side of the war. The rat fell right into my trap.
For the longest time, I have been looking for a way to ease off my anger. Breaking Matteo will be a fun sport, one I couldn’t wait to indulge in.
“Bring him in.” I gave the orders, dropped the phone and went back to the business that pays.
later that night, I was informed of their return and I paid a visit to my ally-turned-traitor. He didn’t have the decency to look perturbed. One of the glorious attributes of Matteo if you ask me.
“You had me followed?” He spat when he saw me, and I didn’t like his tone one bit.
I picked up a butcher knife from the stands, by the prison. “You betrayed me.”
“You betrayed me first! The moment that bitch came into this place, she messed up with your head and you were sending me out the next minute for a goddamned mission that could have killed me.”
“Then you should have died,” I stated and he stilled. “If you couldn’t finish your mission then you should have died, you should have known that choosing to betray me will yield the same results.”
I looked at the sharp end of my butcher’s knife. “The only difference this time would be the fact that your death will be a lot more slowly and painful at my hands.”
