CAELLUM’S POV
I sat in my new and improved office in Naledi’s mansion.
It was hers the moment she walked into it. She just didn’t know it yet. I had every plan of handing it over to her at the right time. That was one of my dirty little secrets.
Watching the men set up my table with loads and loads of paperwork brought a daunting feeling to my shoulders. This was the part I hated about the business. The deals, proposals and signing dotted lines.
Running a mafia was hard work. Especially when you also happened to be an Alpha of a pack as large as mine. The Cosa Nostra pack was no baby. It had branches of the business in every part of the world, controlled by yours truly.
After setting up the office, the men left me to my devices, after informing me of the details of Naledi’s little meeting with Luka. If I were to judge by the state of things, she should be coming back anytime soon.
I made myself comfortable on the chair and started the journey of signing the heavy paperwork that just couldn’t sort themselves. While going through the audacious task, my door flung open.
Slowly, I raised my head, expecting to see my mate, only to be met with the serious eyes of Marcus. Anger reverberated through me. “I don’t remember asking you to come in.”
“I’m sorry, Alpha. You need to hear this.” He said with a sense of urgency.
“This better make sense,” I muttered, and he walked into the office, holding a phone with him.
“It’s Luka. He has other plans up his sleeve.”
My attention was arrested and he handed over the phone. It took a second before I realised we were on to the live feed from his office. As I listened, I grew a lot more upset.
“The girls will move at exactly two pm. The borders are open so the deal will go as planned.” Luka’s voice held a glee to it. “Amara Cordel came in handy after all.”
Another voice. “That woman. I don’t trust her.”
“I understand, exactly why she will be left in the dark concerning our deals. Just leave her to me, and get my money ready.”
“The boys will be ready to collect at the sight. My ship will be arriving at midnight. Do not disappoint me, Luka. I am not a man you want to cross. Do well to remember that.”
The line went silent, and we waited for the next line until my door was shoved open yet again. This time around, it was Naledi. I was seconds away from ripping her head out for interrupting.
“You are back.” I managed to speak, realising it was the end of the conversation after I heard a door shut.
“Did you get it on record?” She asked, apparently been briefed on the situation.
Marcus nodded. “I’ll just play it back.”
He did just that and I watched a frightening cold look settle on Naledi’s face.
“He was planning a move behind my back.” She said, taking it all in. “That fucker was deceiving me all along.” Her eyes were dark and hollow. “Two could play this game.”
A twisted smirk settled on her lips and I knew one thing. Whatever was going on in her mind didn’t spell well for Luka. And I couldn’t wait to watch her unravel as she gave into her darkest thoughts.
She’d make the perfect Luna. My wolf chipped in his one cent and I couldn’t agree more.
“I have a plan.” She finally said, taking a seat on the couch while I stood with Marcus by my side. “Since I let the borders open and he plans on moving the girls, why don’t we intercept him.”
My eyes narrowed at her plan. “Intercept him?”
“Think about it. He told me there was no deal going through, so imagine when his beloved girls suddenly go missing, forcing his shipment to go awry.”
“You want to take the girls?” I asked, still wrapping my head around the idea.
“No. I want you to take the girls.” An evil glint settled in her eyes. “When Luka’s beloved girls go missing, who do you think he’ll suspect first?”
“The Alpha.” Marcus supplied.
She looked delighted. “Exactly. Like it or not, Luka is no ordinary man. He is well aware that no one would dare to cross him so openly.”
I smirked, “No one, but me.”
“You are the only variable he considers as a worthy opponent. So when he gets news of his girls taken away by men from the Cosa Nostra, he’ll seek you out.”
“And?”
“That’s when we strike. Knowing Luka, he’ll probably try to cut a deal with you so he doesn’t cross his clients, we’ll visit him together, set the girls free, burn the fucking place down and make him watch every single thing he’s ever laboured for go down the drain.”
As she spoke, I found myself falling deeper and deeper in love with this woman.
“Say the word and everything will be made ready,” Marcus said, brimming with excitement.
We were finally taking him down. I didn’t think it’d be this fast. Naledi looked up at me, waiting for what I knew to be a go-ahead order. A support to her brilliant plan.
One nod. “Get Matteo on the line, have him get the men ready for ambush. Zero in on the actual location of the ship. He said it was coming in at midnight. Those girls must be under my custody before the stroke of midnight.”
My orders set the plan in motion, Marcus soon left the office, having a lot on his plate as we prepared for our big night. As though I knew such a time would come, I had acquired a substantial share of Luka’s business over the years.
Knowing how rebellious he could be, I took time to get a strong hold on his businesses, waiting for a day like this. As soon as the doors shut, Naledi’s gaze was on me.
“What do you have planned?” A smirk graced my lips at how well she read me.
“Let’s just say the next few hours would be nothing short of nightmarish to that bastard. He’d never see it coming.”
