What card?

NALEDI’S POV
Caellum was a messy eater.
And I was a screamer.
Who knew?
I rolled off the bed, needing some water in my system. With all the screaming, cumming and crying I did, I figured I was in my rights.
“Where are you going?” A grumble from Caellum who stirred awake.
“Good morning to you too!” I said as I picked up my robe. “I need to get something in my system so while you lay there looking all sexy and hot, I’ll grab an early breakfast.”
“You mean lunch?” He said, getting up from the bed. “Don’t know if you remember but we fucked our way well into the morning.”
My face heated up at his words. What was it with me blushing these days?
“Haven’t you heard? Whenever I wake up is my morning? I’m not restrained by the rule of time, Alpha.” I walked towards the bathroom, “And here I was thinking you knew me.”
“Oh I know you, I know the noises you make when I’m deep-”
“Shut up!” I yelled, shutting the door behind me.
He was going to milk this. I just knew. I went on to finish my business in the bathroom, memories from the previous day pouring into my mind. By the time I came out, I was embarrassed and ready to avoid Caellum for the rest of my life.
Thankfully, by the time I walked out of the bathroom, he was gone. An involuntary sigh of relief left my lips. A little too late if you ask me. The next thing I knew, a delicious scent of pancakes wafted into my nostrils.
My stomach rumbled in appreciation. And hunger. In a matter of seconds, the door flew open and there he was. Bare-chested and holding a tray of breakfast.
I salivated at the sight of him. A tough decision to make if you ask me. I was hungry for food but seeing him holding that tray, looking so edible gave me other bright ideas.
Really bright ideas.
My stomach rumbled again and my choice was made. I’d have all the time in the world to have at him. At least until we officially reject ourselves under the full moon. My heart pricked at the thought of rejecting him but I covered it up nicely.
At least I got to have him. However little of him in this benefit thing we had going on. I didn’t even want to stress on the tag. All I knew was we were satisfying our primal urges and being mature about it.
I wasn’t about to drag it now. Or ever. There was no future for us. We both knew that. Right?
“I heard the monster growl and figured you’d use some food that is actually edible.” He said, looking hella fine.
It was hard not to look that attractive while holding such delicious-smelling food, especially to a hungry woman. I resisted the urge to smile and rolled my eyes instead.
“Believe it or not I make a decent meal when I am not trying to prove a point, Caellum.”
“Oh, do you?” He said patronizingly.
I lost the battle against the smile that found its way to my lips. “Give me that.” I collected the tray, and took it to the nearest table, ready to dig in when I looked up at him who remained rooted to the spot.
“Um, are you not hungry?”
He shook his head, “I tired you out. It’s only fitting I make sure you eat.” He sat opposite me, “Besides, I already had a coffee.”
“Let me guess, black and bitter?” I asked, digging into my food as I made small talk.
“How did you know?” He humoured me, a lax smirk on his lips. “That was quite specific.”
I shrugged, “Not that hard. Telling by your overall persona, I figured.”
“Now I don’t know if I should be flattered or upset.”
“You can be both.” I supplied after some time. Making sure not to meet his eyes, and regretting my words moments after.
“Just like you did last night? Tempting.”
I shook my head, knowing I walked into that one. I ate in silence. Drawing out and spending more time than normal to avoid a conversation I knew was coming.
The pancakes soon disappeared and I was left with nothing else to keep me busy. Caellum relaxed on the chair, as though waiting for me to finally give him some attention.
“What is it?” I asked when I couldn’t take his looks anymore. “Is this about what happened yesterday? I’m sorry. I lost my mind for some time and said weird things, but you came over and fucked me back to my senses so I guess it’s alright.”
“Don’t.” His tone was hard. “Don’t fucking play that card with me.”
“What card?”
“That card. Acting like what happened was no big deal. Trying to sweep things off the carpet. No more of that.”
Now I was getting upset. “Why? Huh? Why shouldn’t I? You don’t perhaps think this is some freaking-”
“I know we are just fucking, Naledi. You made that clear the last time. Fucking get over yourself.” He growled, and I thought I may have crossed the line.
He looked pissed. I’d done that. That was great news. At least it meant he wouldn’t try to hear whatever was left of my sob story. That was enough for now.
I relaxed on my chair. “So what is this about? Why are you still here, making me breakfast and watching me eat?”
“Because like it or not, you belong to me. It is a part of my responsibility to ensure you are well. Well fed, in your right mind and making clear-eyed decisions. Not to worry darling, I let you sit on my face makes no freaking difference to the relationship we share.”
“But I need to be sure we are on the same page before I leave. You needed to function at your optimal best to have this conversation, hence the breakfast in bed.”
“Now that it’s sorted, I think we can proceed to more important things. Are you still interested in handling Luka or do I take it up from here?”
