NALEDI’S POV
“Make sure everything is in order, and tell the guys that I will need to meet them tonight. The last thing I need is that wolf getting wind of what we are up to.” Luka said to his phone as we drove to God knows where. “I’ll be in the club.”
“Where are we going?” I asked once we got on the road.
“To have a good time my friend.” He answered with a deary tone. “Trust me when I say you would hardly have any fun in that godforsaken Casino.”
“I came with my car and some people.” I managed to say. “They’ll be wondering where the hell I am.”
“She swears.” He had a glint in his eyes, “I knew I liked you for something other than your money.”
My eyes widened. “Something other than my money?”
A deep breath, “Okay, Listen human, or Amara. Whatever the hell you are called. I am a vampire, not like you’ll understand that because your brains are a gooey mess of blood and tissues, but I’ll try my best to make you comprehend.”
“I am in a business that requires a whole lot of money. Something synonymous with what you have in your possession and much more. So I’ll need you to stick around, get me the money in your possession and be eye candy until I decide what to do with you.”
He drew closer to me with an evil smile. “Do you have a problem?” He said and I swallowed hard. “Good.”
I watched in silence as we drove into the streets of Sicily until we got to the front of a big club. I could tell the club wasn’t a little deal from the name plastered on it. It was one of his.
De Luca’s Club. If that didn’t scream the man beside me, I didn’t know what did.
The car slowed to a stop but Luka kept us from leaving. “Seeing you are going be all human and run for the hills the moment you step out the door, I’m going to have to make sure you don’t do that.”
My eyes narrowed, “How?”
That caught him off guard. He sniffed the air and after a moment, continued with a shrug. “You are quite audacious for a human. But since you’re asking,” His face met mine and his lips lingered in front of mine.
“I’ll compel the shit out of your mind, and make you mine whether you like it or not.” He dropped a chaste kiss on my lips. “I can’t lie, ever since you walked up to me in that Casino, all I’ve thought about was fucking you senseless and sucking your blood dry at the very moment you climax with my name on your lips.”
“How does that sound, my lady?” His fangs protruded as he smiled.
“Sick,” I said the first thing on my mind,
“Exactly why you can’t remember any of this.” He said looking deep into my eyes.
I could tell what he was doing. I had read enough of it in my time researching vampires. He was trying to put holes in my mind. Wipe away every detail he divulged to me.
“Can we go in?” I tested my luck and his eyes perked like he wasn’t expecting it to work. His little mind games. But he shrugged anyway.
“Always full of surprises.” He muttered and clicked open the door. “After you, my lady.”
I stepped out of the car as a woman on a mission. He didn’t know I was a werewolf. That bit was clear. If he bought the fact that I could be compelled to do his bidding then there was no way he knew what I am.
For some reason, he saw me as a gullible interesting human with money. And honestly, I was getting a bit worried about what was wrong with me, seeing I couldn’t feel my wolf or even have access to the super abilities being a wolf afforded me.
I entered the club with my arm in his and we walked past the security. The club was filled to the brim with people partying well into the night, If only they knew what danger they were in.
As we headed to the restricted area, I spotted more than a dozen people who were not people. Vampires, blending in with the humans and no doubt seeking the night’s prey.
“Tell me Amara, what is your favourite drink?”
“Sex on the beach?”
“Interesting choice of drink.” He snapped his hands and a waiter took the orders, not leaving without looking at me with a cynic expression.
“Is she the flavour of the night?” The waiter who I was convinced to be a vampire asked but was rebuffed by Luka.
“Keep talking, and your head might be what I have for dinner.” His tone was anything but friendly, causing the man to make his way back to his duty station. “Ignore him.”
I nodded, still observing the area. We got our drinks and before I could manage a sip, a suited man appeared in front of us, eyeing me warily.
Luka noticed his presence immediately. “I guess they are all here?” He asked, taking a sip of his red wine.
Blood if you asked me.
“Yes sir.” He answered. “They are all in the executive lounge.”
“That was quick.” He dropped his glass and got up, “I apologise, but I have a bit of business to take care of. I wonder if you’ll be happy on your own.” He said, looking anything but sorry.
“Can’t I go with you?” I asked, getting on my feet. He raised his eyebrows. “You are the only one I know and I’d feel safer if I were around you.”
Luka’s eyes told me exactly what he thought. The Irony!
“This is a business meeting love. I doubt you’ll find even the remote fun attending with me. Besides, I’ll be right back. So be a good girl and sit tight.”
I didn’t know what came over me. Maybe it was the drink, or the need to put some of my prowess to use but I got on my feet and held his hand.
In seconds, I pressed tightly beside him, letting him feel everything I had to offer. “I have never been stood up by a man before,” I said softly, biting my lip. “Please don’t be the first.”
I let my free hand wander down his thigh, teasing him with the promise of what I had to offer. Just when my hands got dangerously close to his girth. He stopped me, clenching his teeth.
“Be careful what you wish for,” He said, and to my greatest surprise, dragged me tightly into him. “I’ll take you. Only if you promise to be a good girl.”
“I am incapable of being anything else, Daddy.”
That did it. Like a little bunny, I was escorted to the executive lounge with a more than excited Luka pressed by my side.
