NALEDI’S POV
“You are not allowed to leave.” He said, and the men formed a barrier around me. “Alpha’s orders.”
“And what will you do if I disobey? What would you do if I defy your charismatic Alpha?”
“The Alpha has ordered your house arrest.” My eyes widened in surprise. “I suggest you return inside the house. Anything you need will be supplied to you.”
Oh no he didn’t. I felt my blood boil as I stood there, dressed but not allowed to go. If he thought he could control me then he had something else coming.
I stood in silence and suddenly, a smile drew on my lips. That smile turned to a burst of full-blown laughter. A maniacal laughter that left them looking like I’d grown a second head.
“My lady,” Marcus said in a worried tone.
It only made me laugh the more. I was going to teach them all a lesson. One that wouldn’t leave their mind in a hurry.
Within the blink of an eye, I reached for the silver dagger in my thigh and placed it on my throat with a deadly look on my face. I was done with the jokes.
“Let me go,” I said, annunciating every word.
Korah looked alarmed. “My lady! Bring down the knife! You will hurt yourself.”
“You think I don’t know that?” I said in a bitter tone. “I drew the knife myself, you dimwit.” My gaze focused on Marcus who didn’t move an inch.
I’d acknowledge his doggedness if I wasn’t pissed. His resilience to stand even in the most difficult situations.
“The Alpha ordered. I am sorry but you can’t leave, my lady.”
“Don’t tell me what I can and cannot do.” I hissed. “We’ve already established I am capable of hurting myself if it means I don’t get what I want. I’d think the Alpha must have briefed you all on that aspect of me.” I shrugged when they didn’t move an inch. “I guess not.”
I let the knife dig through the skin of my neck and his eyeballs nearly popped out of their sockets. Marcus, as well as other men who couldn’t believe their eyes.
“Stop! Don’t do this!” That was Marcus. “I’ll revert back to the Alpha.” I dug deeper into my skin. “Darn! Stop it! I accept! Please. Drop the knife.”
I did no such thing. “You will tell nothing to the Alpha,” I said feeling the prick of pain on my neck. “I just need to go to the Casino and have a much-needed physical observation of him before I officially meet him this weekend.”
“It won’t take long. In and out. No one needs to get hurt. Everyone wins.” With the delayed response, I dug into my skin, hoping to persuade them a little bit more. It worked like magic.
“Fine. But we will be with you. It’s very risky being out there alone.” Marcus said and I smiled.
“The more the merrier.”
Who knew I’d have to threaten suicide for them to see reason with me?
“Hand over your knife,” He said, swallowing hard when I raised my brows.
“And why will I do that?”
“We already came to an agreement. I’d feel better if you don’t cut your neck open.”
I chuckled. “I understand your reservations, but let me worry about that. Besides, I love my life when I am not being bossed around, thank you.”
It was comical watching him try to deceive me. I had gone through every trick in the book. He will come to learn in time.
“So… Are we going or do I need to resort to more extreme methods of persuasion?”
Marcus slowly stepped out of the way with his jaws clenched. And so did the others at his command. I could see the car I wanted to use, sitting pretty in the driveway and waiting for my valued presence.
“I’ll be making use of the Spider,” I announced as I walked through the path created, headed for the baby.
Did I mention how impeccable Caellum’s taste in cars was?
I made my way to the drivers seat but Marcus beat me to it. “If we are doing this, I need to be every step of the way.” He said when I gave him the look.
I was relegated to the backseat when Korah took a seat in the front. I guess it was happening now. We were leaving. I had my way and boy did it feel good.
The drive was quiet, except for the soft radio tune that played in the background. Soon enough, we were there, A Casino situated at the dead end of a street.
Viewing it from the outside, it looked like a small town barely visited hotel. But I knew better. If there was anything I learned from my years working in the mafia, it was the fact that nothing was as it seems.
I mean, look at us. Werewolves walking amongst humans. No one could tell us apart. Perfectly hidden in plain sight.
“I think we missed the way,” Korah spoke first. “I doubt there’s anything remotely going on here. And if they were, tonight was not on the list.”
“The casino was located here.” I said with a smile, “You said so yourself.”
It was Marcus’s turn to try to deceive me. “They move the games around.” He said from the driving seat. “I guess someone ratted them to the cops, so they had to take the fun elsewhere.”
“Unless you are that someone, I say we go in and find out ourselves.”
He didn’t like that idea. That bit was clear from the look on his face. Good thing I didn’t give a rat’s ass on what he thought. I got down the vehicle and proceeded to the building which looked like they had a power outage.
As I got closer, I saw it. The man who stood in the dark hallways. A bouncer. “Who said they took the fun elsewhere?” I said with a smirk. “The fun is right here.”
Marcus and Korah appeared beside me and without a word we made our way inside the Casino. In search of the man of my dreams. Luka Donatello.
