Still threatening me?

NALEDI’S POV
Caellum left us waiting for five hours. I hadn’t set my eyes on him or heard his voice since he threatened me for spending his money.
We were supposed to be on our way to Amara Cordel’s house, which would be my new place until Caellum thought my mission was complete. Except that the Alpha decided we were better off here. Waiting for his green light.
Was this his way of getting on my nerves? Because it was working.
“Where is Caellum?” I asked for the nth time, displeasure clear in my tone. “It’s past noon, are we ever going to begin this mission?”
“The Alpha-” Marcus made to speak but was interrupted by Caellum, who decided to finally make an appearance.
“I could end this mission as fast as I ordered it.”
“Alpha.” I bowed my head, and gritted, “We have been waiting for your word for several hours.”
“So?”
“The house has been prepared, everything is set, and we are waiting for your orders to begin the mission, Alpha.” Marcus said, and I rolled my eyes.
He kissed Caellum’s ass for a living.
“Good. And Korah?”
“She happens to have other things to do, not everyone enjoys waiting around, Alpha.” My tone was pained, a snap.
He didn’t like it.
“She went to check we were not missing anything.” Marcus supplied.
“Give us a moment,” Caellum said in a low voice. But it was clear enough to make the entire guards scattered around, take a few steps away from us in obedience.
“I think you are forgetting your place, mia cara.” He started, and I swallowed.
I stepped back when he headed for me until I hit the car. He placed his hands on my sides, caging me.
I held my tongue afraid of saying something wrong.
“You must be happy.” He stood straight. “You are finally leaving my sight.”
I shrugged, “You are way too obsessed to let me out of your sight.”
I’d expected him to say something stupid. But he smiled. Who was this man?
“I have no plans of stopping you, mia cara. I just needed to make some things clear.” I swallowed. There goes nothing. “You are leaving my sight, but make no mistakes, you are not leaving my side.”
“Yet.”
A frustrated sound left his lips, “I can give this mission to someone-”
“No! Leaving your sight but not your side. Got it! Can I go now?”
I batted my eyelids, giving him the puppy dog eyes.
“I heard you ran in with your former employer.”
I was wondering when he was going to pull that card.
“Bumped into him, totally coincidental,” I said with my hands raised.
“I figured. I had a word with him and if my message was passed across, that would be the last we hear of him.”
My eyes narrowed at him, “What did you do?”
Caellum glanced at his watch, “Oh my, what’s the time.” He gave me a pointed look. “You should be leaving.”
Well played. I thought but nodded.
“You will be meeting Luka Donatello tomorrow. I presume you are ready to deliver.”
“I’d love to get my Amara Cordel groove on.” I sighed, “It’s hard to do that when I’m here.”
Caellum moved closer to me and I felt my breath seize. “I will be with you every step of the way. Every turn, every minute, every second. Don’t you get other ideas, Naledi. It’ll fail.”
“Still threatening me?”
“Just making sure you understand the gravity of the mission you are sent on.” He pulled back and dipped his hand in his pocket. “Here you go.”
A brand new phone.
“Oh my. Thank you.” I said, opening the brand-new iPhone 14.
“Keep in touch.” I nodded.
Why did it feel like it was a farewell?
“Not like I have a choice.”
Caellum rolled his eyes. “Marcus!”
“Alpha.”
“Call me as soon as you get there.”
It was my turn to roll my eyes.
“Yes sir.”
Caellum turned around, just in time for Korah to make her way down the stairs.
As soon as she saw him, she bowed her head. “Alpha.”
“I’m trusting you with her, Korah. She never leaves your sight.”
“Yes sir.”
I was itching to scream the words, I’m right here people! Not to mention the fact I didn’t need anyone to take care of me.
“Leave.” Caellum gave the orders and it took everything to stop myself from skipping into the Prado SUV jeep in front of me.
We were travelling in style.
But of course, no one moved until Caellum was up and out of sight. Afterwards, we got into the car and made our way to my new house to begin my new mission.
Three hours later. I woke up to the sound of a gate opening. A sweet mansion stood in front of my eyes, driving sleep from my eyes. “Is this it?”
“Yes, Ma’am.”
“Sweet.” I stepped out of the car and stretched myself for a second.
A man and woman came out of the house, middle-aged and sporting a soft smile.
“Welcome, Ms. Cordel.” They said in unison.
Are they some sort of couple?
The woman took the lead, “My name is Elizabeth Mandy, and this is my colleague, Harry Clide. We are in charge of keeping the home.”
“Oh thank you,” I stretched my hand for a handshake. “I look forward to living with you.”
Harry smiled, “Our pleasure Ma’am. But we have strict orders against that. I and the workers would be living in the workers’ quarters for your maximum stay.”
“Why? The house is big enough to contain us all.”
“The boss ordered it.” Marcus said, “You are to live in the main house while-”
“I thought we were supposed to work together?”
“Yes. And for that, there are ample devices in place.”
I couldn’t believe my ears. My gaze flickered to Korah. “You were supposed to watch over me. He literally told you not to leave my sight.”
She opened her mouth to defend but I shut her up.
“No excuses. You are going with me.” I said with a smile and dragged her along as we explored our new home.
