You are a monster

NALEDI’S POV
“Please! Spare them! They know nothing about this life!”
Caellum corked his brow, “They know nothing about this life?” He spoke like that was the most stupid thing he had heard in a while. “They are able to live in a mansion because of the money THIS life affords them! They are able to live so luxuriously because of the money YOU STOLE from me!”
He cocked his gun. “So tell me, give me one bloody reason why they shouldn’t be disposed?”
“Please! Kill me but let them go! My wife and daughter do not deserve to die. Just let them go.”
“What’s the fun in that?” He asked and I felt chills spot my body.
He wouldn’t kill an innocent woman and child. Would he?
“You owe me your life. So it’s only natural I take it from you.” He walked around Luchesse, like a lion hunting his prey. “Killing them would spicen things up. They are collateral damage.”
I shook my head. “No…”
My tone was low but he heard me and turned around with a raised brow.
“Did you say something, Darling?”
I was ashamed of his endearment. He was mocking me.
“Don’t.” I swallowed. I might as well say my mind. “They don’t deserve to die.”
“Thank you, my lady! Please Alpha! Don’t do this!”
“And who gave you the right to interfere, little maid?”
I felt like I’d been slapped. “I just-”
“Know your place.” He seethed, “Unless you wish to join their fate.” He blinked, and a smirk found its way to his lips. “I have no problem with that.”
I bit my tongue like a fool. Suppressing the anger in my heart.
Caellum picked up his phone and with one ring, the line connected.
“Listen carefully.”
“Yes, Alpha.”
“I want you to get the woman and the kid out of the house.”
“Alright, sir.”
“Keep them there and when you are done stocking up my money.” A wicked smile appeared on his lips, “Take them inside the house. Lock them up,” Our eyes met, “and burn the house.”
“Alpha!”
That was all Luchesse could say before he put a hole between his eyes.
I stood in front of him, watching as the man slumped to the ground with blood pouring out of his forehead. He was dead. And his family would be burnt alive.
An innocent woman and child whose crime was to meet the wrong person.
“Pack up the money and let’s get out of here.”
I didn’t move. I stood shell-shocked, unable to believe what I had just witnessed.
“Are you going to kill them?” I find myself asking, desperate to hear him say he was joking. And he was going to do the right thing.
He chuckled with a cold look in his eyes. “They are already dead.”
“Why would you do that?” I asked, shaking with anger. “They did nothing wrong. I can understand the man deserved what he got, but why does his family have to pay for his sins?”
“Because it makes a good plate of revenge. Best served cold.” The door opened, and Matteo walked in. “I have no time to leave any loose ends, they are better dead than alive anyway.”
Caellum walked to the door, “Is it done?” he asked Matteo who nodded affirmative.
I couldn’t believe it. There was no way he would kill them. I followed him, forgetting the money and got to the bar area.
Men in black filled the space. They were werewolves and they had body bags. I looked in horror as over seven men lay on the floor, dead and cold with a bullet between the eyes.
“What happened?” I asked, unable to comprehend the reason for the senseless killings.
“I brought you here to wait on me.” Caellum’s jaws clenched. “Not to ask stupid questions.”
“Let them go,” I said when he was about to step out the door.
“How about no?”
“You should take care of them, get them into the pack as members. They don’t need to die like that.”
“Do I need to remind you your place?”
He was pissed. I’d pushed too hard.
“No,” I said. “But maybe you need to be reminded of your role.”
I was done with his bullshit.
“It is your job to protect the pack and mafia family. And like it or not, that man you just killed, was a member of the Cosa Nostra family. You have a duty to his family.”
“That man was a thief. I owe them nothing. And I’d watch my tongue if I were you. I have no problem putting you where you ought to be, Naledi. Do not test me.”
“I cannot sit by and watch you kill them. They are inno-”
Caellum grabbed me by the arm and I was flush against him. I hated how my body responded to him. “Don’t touch me.”
He didn’t reply. I felt a cold barrel in my guts and I froze. Goosebumps covered my skin when I realised what he was doing.
“One more word. One wrong word and I promise it will be your last.” I could tell he meant every word.
I must be possessed because I pushed further, speaking with confidence I wasn’t sure I had. “You can’t kill me. Your wolf will go crazy.”
My words were facts. You can imagine my surprise when his lips tilted in a closed-lip smile.
“You are right.” He said, searching my eyes. “Which is a blessing, because I get to figure out more ways to hurt, break and destroy you without touching a strand of your hair.”
Looking at us from afar, people would think we were all over each other. Lovers who couldn’t get their hands off each other. If only they knew…
“You are a monster.” I seethed, shaking as my hand tightened to a fist.
“I never claimed to be anything else.” He said, “Let’s test that theory.”
Caellum pushed me aside, roughly might I add. I managed to find my footing and shot him a dirty look while he dialled a number on his phone.
“What’s going on?” He asked, putting the phone on speaker.
My eyes narrowed.
“We just loaded the money. We are trying to set the property ablaze.”
My breath seized, and a cruel smile stretched on Caellum’s face.
“The woman and child?”
“Locked in the fault. Which is currently on fire.”
Blood drained from my face.
“Good.”
