Quentin continued to climb higher, the higher he went, the more precarious it became, and the easier it was to get cut by the steel blades. Beckett, eager to overtake him, was in severe pain, his feet bleeding profusely.
Quentin remained calm and unscathed, stepping up steadily. Even the audience began to count down.
“One!”
“Two!”
…
“Five!”
At the final step, Quentin paused slightly, standing on the steel blade, and looking down at everyone. Just one more step onto the wooden plank, and he would be the first to conquer the Mountain of Blades!
“Beckett, what’s wrong? Can’t catch up with me even with all your effort?” Quentin sneered.
Beckett was furious and humiliated by Quentin’s taunts. The people of Black Miao Village and Wesley were restless.
Despite the pain, Beckett climbed desperately and finally reached the thirty-fourth blade, just two steps away. He was still the strongest in Miao Territory!
Quentin looked at him, sneered, lifted his foot lightly, and leaped onto the wooden plank at the top of the blade ladder!
“No!” Beckett roared. He had lost on the Mountain of Blades!
He climbed the last two blades with all his might and lay on the wooden plank, unable to stand due to the pain in his feet. Blood flowed from the plank to the ground.
The other contestants slowly climbed to the top of the blade ladder, all sweating and panting.
“He won! Webb won again!”
The previously silent crowd erupted in cheers. Quentin had once again defeated Beckett, astonishing everyone!
“Quentin is a god!” The people of White Miao Village and Cerys’s family were ecstatic, dancing with joy.
On the Black Miao Village side, there was dead silence and dejection.
Seeing Wesley’s gloomy expression, the other leaders at Chieftain Base Camp didn’t dare to celebrate, creating a tense and oppressive atmosphere.
Although the Mountain of Blades had determined a winner, the Sea of Fire had yet to begin. The competition was not over; every contestant still had a chance to emerge victorious from the Sea of Fire and claim first place.
The referee instructed the assistants to bring wooden ladders for each contestant at the top so they could quickly descend and cross the Sea of Fire.
The contestants began to move quickly. Even Beckett started descending the ladder.
As a Miao Man, mere cuts were nothing. Ignoring the pain in his feet, Beckett descended rapidly, leaving a trail of blood on the ladder.
Quentin remained at the top of the blade ladder, his expression calm, not descending. Everyone was puzzled.
If he didn’t go down and cross the Sea of Fire soon, all his efforts would be in vain!
Quentin stood at the edge of the top. The crowd was anxious and exclaimed, “What’s he doing? Is he going to jump directly? Is he crazy?”
“That’s an eighteen-meter height! If he jumps, he’ll be shattered! He’ll die for sure!”
“Quentin, don’t!” Cerys cried out in fear. Although she knew Quentin was strong, could anyone survive such a high jump?
“Cerys, trust him. Don’t worry,” Eileen said calmly.
“But Eileen, this…”
Before she could finish, Quentin leaped lightly, descending swiftly like a swallow.
Everyone shivered with fear. Some Miao Family girls closed their eyes, dreading the impending bloody scene.
The contestants on the wooden ladders swallowed nervously. Only Beckett sneered disdainfully, “Hmph, madman. Go ahead and die.”
“Thud.”
Quentin landed gently and steadily, unscathed.
The crowd gasped, “My God! Is he a god? He’s completely fine?!”
Cerys and others breathed a sigh of relief but were still shaken by what they had just witnessed. Quentin’s strength was unbelievable.
Beckett was stunned. What kind of opponent had he encountered? Someone so absurdly strong.
Ignoring everyone’s astonishment, Quentin walked slowly to the starting point of the Sea of Fire. The flames roared in front of him, radiating intense heat that made everyone sweat profusely.
Beckett and others snapped out of their daze and jumped down from the wooden ladders to stand before the Sea of Fire.
Some contestants eager to win stepped directly into the Sea of Fire despite the danger. Unfortunately, their skills were insufficient; they couldn’t endure the burning pain for long and jumped out, clutching their scorched feet in agony.
The high temperature of the Sea of Fire made everyone tremble with fear. A single misstep could result in being incinerated.
Beckett and Khan also stepped into the Sea of Fire. Khan moved at a moderate pace while Beckett sped up despite his foot injuries being seared by the hot coals, causing excruciating pain.
No matter how painful it was, Beckett was determined to win this race and reclaim his honor. Losing to someone like Quentin would be a lifelong disgrace!
He quickly crossed half of the Sea of Fire; the finish line was in sight. This time he couldn’t lose!
But instead of securing his victory, Beckett slowed down and turned back to sneer at Quentin, “Webb, what’s wrong? Afraid of burning your feet?”
“You’ll always be a loser! This time I’ll be first! Catch up if you can!”
Quentin sneered back calmly, “Beating you only takes two steps.”
Hearing this, Beckett almost laughed out loud despite being in the Sea of Fire. “You really know how to brag even when you’re losing!”
“What did you say? I didn’t hear you clearly. Can you say it again? Hahaha.”
For someone like Beckett who acted like a buffoon, Quentin couldn’t help but chuckle and replied:
“Beating you only takes two steps.”
