Scott POV.
“Don’t you dare,” the guy says looking at me with hate and fury in his eyes, he had red eyes, the first and most obvious sign of being evil, rumours say that vampires have red eyes, and he looks like it, he doesn’t smell like it, I can’t actually smell him since I have my oxygen mask on my face.
“Hey man, take it easy, just relax,” I say to him, trying to calm him down, he still had a gun pointed at my head which might mean that he could be the one who started the fire or the fire has sent him into insanity.
“What’s your name?” he asked me, people who are scared, don’t know how to react to fear, so maybe the fear had him going more on the aggressive side.
“I’m a firefighter, I’m here to help you,” I say trying to stay calm.
“What’s your name?” he asks me again, still looking at me, trying to see my face and my details, but I was hidden behind my mask.
“My name is Scott, I’m a firefighter, and I’m here to help you,” I promise him.
“You are Scott, the famous Scotty,” he says coming toward me, he starts to walk in circles around me, he has an evil smile on his face, it is worse than the smile he had earlier.
“You heard about me?” I ask him, maybe it’s someone I saved or someone I didn’t save, in my line of work, usually, people love us, they don’t hate us or come back for revenge.
“I heard so much about you, the beloved third, the one who took my place,” he growls at me, who’s place did I take? I didn’t do anything that would cause me to take anyone’s place.
“Your place?” I ask him out loud, what is he talking about?
‘Scott, check in,’ Lion says through the radio, checking that I have not died yet.
“Can I answer that? They need to know I’m alive,” I say pointing to my radio.
“No need, you’ll be dead soon, they’d know later when they find out about the body if they find the body,” he says and I swallowed hard, he’s going to kill me?
“What… what place did I take?” I ask him, if he’s going to kill me, I have the right to know why first.
“My place, you took my placeeeee,” he yells at me and comes toward me, he had the gun against my head, but there was the mask standing between us, and I’m a wolf I won’t die that easily, but if he leaves my body here, the fire would have me.
“What place, I don’t know you, how would I have taken your place, if it’s about the station, I’m going to move, next week I’ll be out of here,” I assure him, if he wants my place I’m leaving, not that he’s going to get the job, not after starting a fire and trying to kill me.
“It’s not about the station, but think Scotty, whose place have you taken, why did you take it,” he growls at me, a wolf and one that’s mostly insane, having signs of vampires on them, it’s Theo.
“You’re Theo,” I say finally finding out who the guy is.
‘Scott report,’ Lion yells through the radio, I never ignore him, I usually answer right away, but Theo won’t allow me to use it.
“And you bitch have stolen my place,” he says, yelling at me.
“And now you’re here to kill me?” I ask him, trying to get him to talk, giving myself a chance to get away from here, to survive.
‘What’s wrong?’ James asks through the bond, but it feels off, it feels hazy like there is an interference along with it, and I wasn’t sure they could hear me yelling Theo! Danger! Keep Stella away! but the messages and the yelling felt like it’s being bounced back to me like they couldn’t hear me.
“I’m not here to just kill you, I’m here to torture you, torture you enough to get the rest here and then kill you,” he says with an evil laugh.
“Shouldn’t you hide the evil plan until the end? Why are you telling me it?” I ask him, in the movies the evil guy always keeps their plan hidden until the end, this can’t be the end, not like this, I refuse to die, I have a soul to get back to.
“It’s not evil, it’s what’s going to happen, and no need to hide since things are going to go my way,” he says way too confidently, was he always such a narcissistic jerk, the whole place around us burning and he’s going to talk about his evil plan, talk about being self-centred.
“The place is going to burn down before you get them to come here,” I say, ruining his plan, this isn’t going to work the way he thinks it would.
“Alainaaaaa…” he yells and someone runs from behind me, the mask was taken off my face and I had to breathe in the fume of the fire, the woman, Alaina who’s clearly a vampire punched me a couple of times and I fell down yelling, the fire wasn’t that bad on this floor, but it’s going to reach very soon.
I screamed as she hit me one more time, the fire was touching a lot of my skin, but it wasn’t bad enough to burn me to death yet, in my opinion, we still had a fifteen maybe twenty minutes top before the building started falling over our heads.
“Call them, go ahead, tell the other two to come to save you, call for help, let them run here, run to me,” Theo says coming toward me slowly, he didn’t-care about the fire, this guy was going through hell and he didn’t care about the fire either.
‘Guys, don’t come, don’t come! Let me die!’ I yell through our bond.
“He’s not calling them,” Alaina says, looking at me, she’s the one blocking our connection.
“Then let’s do it the old way,” Theo says walking toward me, he got hold of my radio, I tried to fight him, to take it back, but he had a psycho vampire on his side as well.
“Let it go you psycho, they’re not coming,” I tell hoping they won’t come for real, but who knows, they might be just as insane and do it.
“Lion wasn’t it? Run and get Milo and James kitty,” Theo says through the radio.
“Who’s there?” Lion yells through the radio.
“Call the bitch and the bitchier, tell them to get their arses in here if they want this jerk to stay alive,” Theo says through the radio, not nice, not nice at all.
“Who’s there, where’s Scott?” Lion says again.
“Deliver the message and you might get him out alive,” Theo says and then steps over my radio breaking it, he knows that he can just turn it off, no need to be that violent.
“We lied, we’re going to kill you no matter what,” Alaina whispers in my ear, her voice was cold, even in a burning fire, it send ice through my veins.
“They’re not going to come, the building would burn before they get the time to come here,” I say to them, lying, they’re wolves if they run they can get here in less than three minutes, and the building is going to hold for a bit more.
“Then we’ll leave you to die and we’ll deal with the others our way, I heard the big one tastes good, did you know how tasty you all taste,” she says touching my neck, smelling my neck, her teeth were very close to my neck.
“Don’t kill him yet, you’ll get to kill all three of them soon,” Theo says, what an idiot.
We stayed in the burning fire, I was praying that my two mates wouldn’t come over here and they were talking to me as if the building wasn’t really on fire, we’re all going to die because they’re idiots, I could hear the rest of the crew come in the building, they yelled fire department, they yelled telling people to call to get help, but I didn’t dare to yell or make a noise, I didn’t want any of them to be in danger, especially the humans in the crew.
“How did you know about me?” I asked Theo, the gun was still there, and she had one too.
“That girl, she has a really, and I mean really big mouth,” Alaina says.
“You mean Laura?” I asked her, how did they two meet? I know Laura told the whole crew about me, but how did she come to these two?
“Yeah, that one, she got drunk and she talked, she talked so much, she told us all about you, her crush, how she lovedddd you so much,” Alaina says making fun of her, mocking her feelings.
“And then she mentioned you, and she mentioned Stella, my Stella, she was gonna hurt her, so I’ve hurt her first,” Theo says with an evil smile on his face.
“No she called in sick, she’s not… you didn’t,” I say not wanting him to have him kill her.
“I sent the text, don’t be an idiot,” Alaina says with an eye roll.
“You killed her,” I say looking at them with wide eyes, the fire filled the floor that we were on, and breathing was getting more difficult with every second that passed, even for a wolf and a vampire, we can’t keep holding our breaths for longer.
“We need to get out before all three of us die” I yell at them, starting to cough, breathing was getting harder with every second that passed.
“No, I think we’re good,” Theo says, he wasn’t even having a hard time breathing, he was walking around looking at the fire like it was nothing, and the floor was getting worse.
“We need to get up higher,” I say, trying to get them to a higher floor where the fire wasn’t there yet.
“If he dies before they get here, I won’t be able to eat any of them,” Alaina whines, she wants to eat me, but at least I’ll get a chance to live for a bit longer, maybe the fire would get to them first.
“Fine, let’s go up then, but no funny business,” Theo says, dragging me by the arm out of the apartment we’re in, we went up the stairs, trying to avoid the fire while I coughed some more, I needed some fresh air, Alaina had the smart idea of getting toward the roof, where there was some fresh air for me to breath. I fell down on my knees and coughed a lot until I could finally breathe again, I looked around and saw the fire had reached higher floors, good thing we had left that one, or we’d be turned into roasted wolves by now.
“Let’s see, where are you friends?” Alaina says looking over the edge of the roof, she smiles and even claps happily.
“They’re here, now tell them to get up here,” she says turning to me.
“It’s not going to happen, they need to leave, kill me, I don’t care,” I say deciding that death would be easier than having them get hurt.
I took a look too, I was happy to see that they left the little one behind, and Lion isn’t allowing them to walk in, if they did, all of us would be dead by then, and the building is going to give up soon, fire department or not, sometimes tragedies happen, and death is coming to get all of us very soon.
