Milo POV.
What the hell was he thinking, I’m going to kill him, I’m going to kill him this time, I don’t care if she’s his soul or not, that boy doesn’t even deserve a mate, he needs a good beating, and although he had received a beating from me already, he’s not giving up, that boy is going to keep being an idiot.
Something pulled me toward the wood, I felt the pull the one that my wolf couldn’t fight off, I just wanted to get out there, and sit out there in the woods, I didn’t have anything to do in the woods, nothing but that pulling.
I made it to the middle of the woods and took a seat, I was lost in my mind, thinking of my future mate, my soul, was my soul okay? Being taken care of? Was my soul carrier so young that the gods didn’t think that we needed to meet yet, that it’s better to keep my soul away and give the carrier some time to grow up and get ready to meet me, I just hoped so.
I was lost in my mind, I wasn’t paying attention to anything, not to my surroundings, I was in the middle of the woods, I was in my own territory and I didn’t have anything to worry about.
“Are you okay?” A voice asks me, pulling me out of my thoughts, and making me look up, I didn’t hear the person walking toward me, I’m an alpha wolf, I should know, hear, and sense when someone is around me, but not here, around her it’s different, around her I feel so safe, that I could just skip and forget the fact that she’s standing out there.
We talked a little bit before we started walking toward her home, I had to take her home, I had to push her away from me, I couldn’t take being around someone else’s soul and being attracted to that soul, it’s just not okay, I shouldn’t be doing that.
We were near her home and then I slipped, I said something sexual, and she panicked, of course, she panicked, she’s not my soul or mate when I find who’s mine when I catch them, we’ll have a lot of sexual and sensual nights, and they won’t worry or panic like Stella just did, she’s not mine. I kept apologizing, I wanted to be friends with her, I didn’t want her to tell her wolf about me saying so, I didn’t want to start any kind of fight with anyone.
She forgave me for what I said but it was too late, her mate was here, he looked furious, and he looked at me with hate and disgust, I knew that look was one that’s used when you are about to challenge your alpha.
‘I’m only guiding her home Theo,’ I say through the bond.
‘Why Are You Near Her?’ he yells back at me.
‘Calm The Fuck Down,’ I answer him, trying to calm him down just to be able to talk to him.
‘Why Are You With My Mate!’ he yells at me again, I try to calm him down again, I try to show him that it’s fine, that it’s not worth the fight, that he should just calm down.
‘She’s my friend, I don’t mean any harm, Theo,’ I say trying to calm him down before he gets his ass in more trouble with me before I actually kill him.
‘She’s Not Your FRIEND! SHE’S MY SOUL,’ Theo yells and I knew it was over a fight is going to break but I didn’t want her to be around us when that happened, I can’t let her see what’s going to happen.
“When I say, you run home,” I say out loud to the little Star, but she was standing there stunned, she might not be able to run, not with her mate so close by, not with her mate fighting with me.
‘Don’t order her around,’ Theo says to me, and I try to hold back my chuckle at him, I’m just trying to keep his mate safe, but he’s the one who wants to put her in the way of harm.
“It’s time to get home,” I say out loud, walking toward Theo, when she wasn’t in his eyesight anymore, he lost it again, he attacked, it was an open challenge to his alpha, one that won’t get passed like that, not this easily.
I held him back, I didn’t shift or hurt him, I didn’t want Lil-Star to know what we are yet, she needs to be introduced to our world slowly, but Theo isn’t thinking straight, he keeps on trying to throw what we really are on her, but it’s not going to work, not like that. When I saw and felt that she was far enough, it was time for payback, fighting the alpha is a declaration of war, his soul wasn’t in danger nor was she in any harm’s way, until he came along.
‘This is your last chance to step back, Theo, she’s back at her house,’ I warn him, I didn’t want to kill him, I felt bad about hurting him, and killing him would devastate me.
‘DIE YOU SON OF A BITCH!’ Theo yells back at me, how nice of him, so being nice wasn’t working.
I shifted to my wolf form, I’m bigger than Theo, and I have enough muscles and teeth in me to hurt him, to kill him if needed, when our instinct takes over, there won’t be any mercy shown. I went straight to his neck, I subdued him, I pushed him down on the floor, I bit him, I drew blood, if he submitted now it’ll be over, I won’t hurt him anymore, I’d let him get home and lick his injuries in peace, but Theo was a trouble maker, forever the fighting kind of person.
‘Theo, I don’t want to hurt you anymore,’ I begged him, but he was trying to hurt me back, and in my moment of weakness, he gained some power over me.
He pushed off the ground and got on top of me, he tried to do the same move over me, to get me on the ground with my neck between his teeth, begging for mercy, he had the element of surprise first but then I took back control, I’m the alpha, and although he’s a worthy competitor, he’s not a match to me.
‘One more time Theo, and you’re dead,’ I say deciding not to be the nice guy anymore, it hurt me to hurt him, it killed me to cause him pain, we’re connected, we’re a family, and one pack.
‘She’s My Mate, Mine!’ Theo yells in response, his eyes have gone from their silver-grey colour to red, a sign of rogness, he’s going insane.
‘She’s yours, Theo, I don’t want her, you can have her,’ I tell him, I didn’t want her, that was a lie, I wanted her so badly, but I couldn’t have her, she’s not mine.
‘Then Why Won’t You Get The Fuck Away From Her!’ Theo says, I’ve only been around her twice and it’s all cause of him, he’s the one who’s scaring her and pushing her toward me, I never wanted someone else’s soul.
‘You’re being an idiot Theo, go home,’ I say, during this conversation me and Theo have managed to stand face to face instead of on top of each other.
‘Not before I kill you,’ Theo says and tries to attack me again, I was about to deflect his hit, but it never came, Theo was pulled back by another wolf, a black wolf with blue eyes, Calesti.
‘Get him to stop before he gets himself killed,’ I begged Calesti, thank god she’s here, she’s his friend and she has a good head on her.
‘I’m trying,’ Calesti answers me, I took the moment of peace and called the rest of the pack for help, whoever was in control was to come and drag Theo yet again, this time I ordered them to throw him in a cage and keep him there until he calms enough to talk.
When they took him off, I could finally breathe in relief, I took a couple of steps back and thought about what happened if it was anyone else, I would have killed them, but I couldn’t kill Theo, I couldn’t hurt Stella like that, even if he’s being very territorial and possessive right now, she’s still his soul and I don’t want her to die or feel any kind of pain cause of him.
I followed them home next, I shifted back to my human form and downed two glasses of Whiskey, it didn’t do much for me but it helped calm my nerves.
“What happened Milo?” My mother asks, Luna Amelia says.
“He lost it,” I answer her.
“You have more bruises on you than he does, why?” she asks me with a raised brow, an alpha never loses, and if they do, then they don’t deserve to be an alpha.
“I tried,” I answer her.
“Tried? Milo, trying means death in our world, trying isn’t an option,” Mom scolds.
“If I kill him, she’d die too mom, if I hurt him, she’d be hurt,” I say in a cold voice, I couldn’t take hurting her.
“And who’s she Milo?” she asks me, she didn’t know about Stella, the Lil-Star, the one that… I don’t even know what she is.
I ignored my mother and walked off, I went down to the basement where Theo was being kept, he was jumping against his cage, and he was bruising himself trying to get loose.
“Theo, the bars are made of silver, they’ll kill you before you make a dent in them,” I remind him, Silver kills us, a silver bullet to the heart is a death sentence for us, the legends are correct. He growled and hissed at me, I looked at his eyes, the red had mostly faded, and all that was left was a light pink hue, nothing to worry about, so I opened the bond between the two of us so he could talk to me.
‘I’m going to kill you, a very slow and painful death,’ Theo warns.
“You’re the one behind the bars, Theo, I’m still the one in charge here,” I say with a cold smile on my face, I won.
‘You can’t keep me in here forever,’ He says with a smirk, oh so he thinks?
“Actually, I can, I’m the one in charge, you’ve tried to kill me, and so your punishment is jail,” I say and walk out of the basement, I have closed our bond before he could comment or say anything else, I was out of the room, I went back upstairs, but I could hear the howls of anger, the hitting of the cage, Theo wasn’t just angry, he was furious, and so was I, I should’ve been able to kill him, but I couldn’t, maybe I was too weak?
“Yes?” I answer my phone in a cold voice, I’m very pissed, whoever called me, better be a matter of life or death.
“Are you okay?” it was Stella’s worried voice.
“Stella?” I ask confused, all the anger disappearing from my body.
“Yeah, sorry, it’s me, I just wanted to make sure you’re fine,” she says in a low voice.
“Hey, it’s fine, you can call me anytime, I’m just a bit busy now,” I say trying to sound casual.
“Sorry,” she says next, and I could just imagine her going red.
“Don’t worry lil-Star, I’m fine, don’t worry, the wolves just needed a good slap on the behind and it ran off with its tail between its legs,” I say assuring her that all is fine.
“That’s not nice Milo,” she says trying and failing to sound serious.
“What’s not nice? Spanking a wolf?” I say and she laughs.
“Milo! That’s not nice,” she says again and I laughed, I loved hearing my name from her mouth.
“Lil-Star, I’m fine, but I’m busy, I’d love to talk to you again, maybe later tonight?” I say.
“Okay, bye Milo,” she said, I smiled and ended the call.
