“So who are you bringing food for?” Brandon asked looking at the food container in Kylie’s hand. She could feel his eyes on her after every few minutes.
“For my husband,” Kylie replied after giving it a thought. She didn’t want any complications with a stranger.
“You are married? You don’t look like though,” he said in a sad tone.
“Yes, I am happily married,” she said with a smile showing her diamond ring to him.
“Which building?” he asked looking at the big commercial buildings ahead of them.
“Smith Corp,” Kylie indicated at the tallest building.
“Your husband works there?” he raised his brows.
“Yes, can you please drop me at that corner?” she
“That’s a bit far from your destination,”
“My husband is very possessive of me. So he wouldn’t like it if he saw me getting out of a stranger’s car,” she responded. When they came to a halt, she got out of the car and left after thanking him.
……………..
“Where do you want to go?” asked the receptionist when Kylie entered the Smith Corp building.
“I am going to the executive floor. I have brought food for Mr. Smith,” Kylie replied showing her the food container in her hand.
“And who are you?” she asked a bit rudely.
“I am his personal assistant from the media company he acquired recently,” Kylie responded to the receptionist, whose name tag indicated that her name was Elsa. Kylie was getting impatient by all those questions, he was waiting for her.
“Personal assistant you said? Can you show me your ID?” Elsa asked raising her brows. Kylie searched her purse but couldn’t find it.
“Shit! I must have left it at home,” she cursed out loud.
“Ahha! Finally, you have shown your true face,” Elsa hit her table hard with a winning grin.
“I knew from the moment you entered the building that you had some ulterior motive. You must be one of those women who want to seduce Mr. Smith. How shameless you are to run after an engaged man,” she said with harshness lingering in her voice.
“I think you misunderstood me. Why don’t you give the CEO a call or you can call Paul for confirmation,” Kylie clenched her fist hard to control the anger that was rising inside her.
“I must say that you did your homework well. You even know the name of Mr. Walker. But you can deceive me, I know homewreckers and cheap sluts when I see them,” she sneered at Kylie, who wanted to get back at her but her phone rang.
‘Where are you?’ Sebastian asked, his voice was unpleasant.
‘I am stuck at the front desk of your company. They won’t let me in because I forgot my ID,’ Kylie responded to him looking straight at the receptionist.
‘Wait there, I am sending Paul,’ he hung up the phone.
“So, are you going to tell me that the person who called you just now was Mr. Smith?” she asked crossing her hands in front of her. Kylie just smirked at her as soon as she saw the exclusive elevator door open from the corner of her eyes.
“What are you doing here?” a cold domineering voice echoed throughout the reception area making everyone pause in their place. Kylie didn’t expect him to be here personally. She thought he was sending Paul, that’s what he said, right?
“Sorry Mr. Smith, I forgot my employee ID at home. And this receptionist here had some scanners in her eyes that showed that I was a slut who wanted to seduce an engaged man. You must have been paying her extra bonuses for those scanner eyes of her. At least she is saving you from a vicious woman like me,” Kylie said with a hint of mocking and anger in her voice. Since he was already here then why not use this opportunity? Sebastian turned to the receptionist with his ice-cold glare. She was pale like paper in fear.
“S-sorry, Mr. Smith, I thought she was lying when she said she was your assistant. Also, Miss Samantha ordered me to prevent women, who wanted to disturb you. I am really sorry, Sir, please forgive me,” she said with tears in her eyes. So she was one of Samantha’s supporters?
“I don’t pay you to follow the order from an outsider. Clear all her payments and make sure I don’t see her face again in this city. Also, from now on Samantha is restricted from entering my office,” he said then tugged Kylie along with him to the exclusive elevator.
Inside the elevator, Kylie could feel the chilly air emitting from his body. He was still raging in anger. Gathering all her courage, she placed her hand on top of his balled fist in order to calm his nerves. But the next second, she was pinned against the cold elevator wall harshly. She wanted to ask him what was wrong with his mood but all her words remained stuck at the back of her throat when he kissed her on the lips.
At first, the kiss was harsh as if he was venting all his anger through the kiss; then it turned into a slow passionate one. As she placed her hand on his chest, she could feel his racing heart calming down slowly. He pulled away when he felt she was getting out of breath and placed his forehead on top of her.
“Why didn’t you call me?” he asked in a hoarse sexy voice. She was speechless at first, taken aback by his soft tone.
“I-I thought you would get angry if I called you for such petty matters,” she blurted out the truth. He chuckled softly and placed a chaste kiss on her cheek.
“If it was such a petty matter, then why did you use me to get back at her and make me fire that receptionist?” he asked with a smirk. Kylie felt embarrassed all of a sudden at her immature act there.
“You asked me to not be bullied by others as long as I am your wife. So, I thought why not use my husband’s power to get back at that bully? After all, I was Mrs. Smith,” She smiled at him batting her eyelashes to look cute in front of him. All she got was a carefree laugh from him. She guessed it was the first after four years, she saw him laughing from his heart.
“You did well there. Don’t hesitate to use your husband in the future if you face a similar situation,” he winked at her. As soon as the elevator reached the top floor, both of them walked inside his office.
“Let me serve the food to you,” Kylie said then walked to the couch, and placed the food container on the table. She was so happy in her heart that she didn’t notice another person’s presence in the room.
“Mr. Smith, I have been waiting for a while to meet you. I didn’t notice it was lunchtime already,” Kylie heard a familiar voice coming from the other direction of the big spacious cabin. When she followed the source of voice, she was shocked to see the person standing there watching her intently.
‘Brandon,’ she mumbled under her breath shocked to see him there.
