“Haha… That meeting was overwhelming” William exclaimed as he stood in front of the Xavier’s general hospital, stretching his two arms with a smile on his face. “The twitching of your face showed how annoyed you were… It’s such a pain that you had to endure those harsh words from them while lashing out”
“Shut your mouth, Will” Liam who was next to him snarled, tired of his friend’s blabbering. “You’re here to pick up Rachael, aren’t you?”
“Yes, we both agreed to leave for home from here. She’s actually with Isabelle” William replied with a raised brow. “You taking Isabelle home tonight, aren’t you?
Liam was caught off guard by the question. He had forgotten she was going to be discharged today and hadn’t sorted out her accommodation. He still felt uncomfortable speaking with her ever since the kidnapping incident. Though he loved her, he still held a grudge, and the pain was still etched in his heart. He could not help but question himself on why love tends to hurt like that.
With heavy footsteps, he walked into the hospital, his mind occupied with how to go about the situation until he saw the doctor walking hurriedly towards him with a funny expression on his face.
“Erm.. Mr. Callahan.. there…” Charles stuttered with a weird expression on his face. “There’s a big problem. Miss. Isabelle”
“Out with it, Charles” Liam snapped with impatience in his voice, his mind running with a series of imagination of what could have gone wrong. He couldn’t control the racing of his heart and yelled “Where is she?”
“Erm.. she’s at the rooftop and has refused to come down. We’ve pleaded with but she chose to remain adamant. Please, we need your help to …”
Before he could finish his sentence, he suddenly found himself on the floor with a sharp pain in his butt. He tried to register how it happened when William stared at him while trying to hold the laughter that was about to erupt. He pulled the stretched-out hand and stood up.
“I wasn’t expecting him to push you like that” William uttered, his voice playful.
“This is all your fault..” Charles snapped at him with his hands massaging his butt. “You owe me one. Let’s just go and see what’s happening”
Meanwhile, Liam and already taken off at full speed, frantically asking anyone in the corridor for directions until a nurse finally directed him.
“Sir, is everything alright?” The nurse asked but was ignored totally as Liam ran through the subway, climbing the stairs hurriedly. He could see a door that was supposed to lead to the rooftop, but someone was standing in the way.
“Rachael, Where is she?”Liam bit in with a troubled voice. “Where is she?”
“I’m sorry” she muttered with puffy red eyes which was a result of the constant shedding of tears. “She said she was tired of living without you in her life and wanted to end it all. I had talked her out of it but she still refused to listen. I went to the restroom and when I came back, she was gone already… I traced her all the way here… Please, save my friend”
“Get out of the way” he replied coldly, ignoring the tears in her eyes and funny wails she was making. Anyone who had noticed something was wrong, but Liam was too agitated to even think of it.
He abruptly pushed the door open and was met with a stunning sight that took his breath away. I had expected to feel a cold breeze blowing on the floor but was seeing scented candle wax lit up on the floor.
He turned back to the door and saw Rachael, William, and Charles with knowing smiles on their faces, urging him to go further. At that moment, he knew something was up but he obliged and he was now close to the middle, only to meet another shocker.
There she was, Isabelle dressed in a royal blue evening gown with sky-high heels, her hair dangling on her shoulders which made her look like a goddess under the moon. She was holding a bouquet of roses in her hands and was also surrounded by it.
“Isabelle…” Liam was rendered speechless as he stared at the angelic creature in front of him. He saw her walk up to him with tears-filled eyes.
“Liam” she called out his name as she stood in front of him
Liam finally found his voice and asked. “Isabelle, what are you trying to do?”
“Please, just hear me out first,” she said with a pleading gaze that made Liam shut his mouth which she took as a cue to continue.
“Liam, I want to start by saying how deeply sorry I am to have cheated on you with your cousin. I know I caused you so much pain and betrayed your trust. Though I wasn’t in love with you then, that wasn’t a good reason for my thoughtless act. I’m so so sorry”
She paused to catch her breath and sniffed in her tears before continuing.
“I know it won’t be easy but can you ever forgive me?… I want to rebuild our relationship from scratch and spend the rest of my life with you if you give me the chance to.. please, accept my deepest apologies” she concluded, tears trickling down her eyes as she stretched forth the bouquet in her hands.
Liam was thunderstruck by her confession, his heart was in chaos as he got pulled towards her by an unknown force. His love for her rekindled the moment he took the flowers from her and placed a light kiss on her forehead.
“I forgive you, my love, from the depth of my heart” he whispered into her ears with a cracked voice. “And I’m equally sorry for all the pain I’ve caused you. For keeping you by my side against your will. I was just too selfish”
“No, don’t say that Liam”Isabelle wrapped her arms around his waist and hugged him. “Don’t you ever regret what brought us together instead, we should be grateful for it”
“I love you” Liam confessed.
“And I love you” she responded with excitement in her voice, happy they had finally settled their problems with no more secrets left to tell.
