“Who hired you?” Liam asked his words carrying a heavy weight of threats. “I just need a name and we are good”
“I can’t reveal that. Our client’s confidentiality is our utmost priority” Spencer refused to answer. He averted his gaze away from Liam but unfortunately, Empress breathing heavily with sweat beads trickling down her face was the first sight that enchanted him. His fear was her having to go through the excruciating pain again because of his decision. His pride was also important.
William walked up to him, standing beside Liam. “This guy is quite the stubborn one, am I right?” his eyebrows furrowed into a frown. “I should continue with the last then”
“I already told you what you wanted, what else do you want?” Spencer lost his cool for the second time in a day, which was a rare occurrence for a quiet person. “Just let us go”
“Nah, you are getting it wrong. You haven’t answered the main question. The first question was just for confirmation. The second one is the exact question you are expected to answer”William explained in detail. “When we have the name of the hirer, you all will be fine”
“Tch…. Fine, I’ll tell you” Spencer conceded, his voice laced with reluctance. “We were ordered by the men”
“Go on”Liam ordered, his voice laced with authority. “What are their names?”
Spencer glanced at his two partners who were gazing at him expectantly, waiting for his reply. After much consideration, he told the truth. “Mr. Brenett and Mr. Max… Those were the names we used to recognize them”
A great period of silence engulfed the room, the moment Spencer stopped talking. The revelation was mind-blowing. The men in the room were greatly stunned. Saying Max was the mastermind was acceptable but Kyle?… It was unbelievable.
“Are you sure of what you’re saying?… The consequences will be severe if I find out that you’re trying to fool me”Liam snarled, his heart boiling with rage. He wanted to be sure before taking any steps. If indeed those two were the ones behind the abduction, he was going to make them go through hell for the stress they caused him.
“I’m sure, I mean I have the transfer records of payment and call history to confirm”Spencer replied, with sincerity in his voice. “I can show it to you. Why would I lie when my friends’ lives are in danger”
“The phone is here with me, I’ll check it out”Adrian who had been silently watching everything happen finally spoke, his voice still a bit shaken from the shock he had received. He quickly connected the phone he had seized from them to his personal computer. He quickly scanned through the call and bank history records and to his uttermost surprise, the man was telling the truth.
“Boss, I’m afraid he is telling the truth” Adrian revealed with solemnity in his voice, his gaze flashing with apprehension, wondering how his boss would react.
“William, let them go. We have a certain someone we need to visit tonight” Liam ordered coldly, his gaze still on Spencer whose gaze showed how happy he was. “I’m letting you go because you were just doing your job.. let this be the last time we set our eyes on each other unless I won’t be this lenient next time”
“We won’t,” Spencer replied, his voice filled with a sense of gratitude as he locked eyes with Liam who was trying hard to keep his temper in check, at least, till he met the person who truly deserved it. Spencer hastened his steps towards Empress who was still too weak to stand.
“Have this, it will help soothe the pain”William said, handing over the ice bag, his tone softened and his gaze full of pity. They had crossed paths with the wrong.
“Liam, we should go now, right?”William asked, his gaze lingering on Liam whose eyes were frightening as he balled his fist. “The earlier the better before he runs off to somewhere we won’t be able to reach”
“Let’s go”

“Hey! There, Liam.. isn’t it too late for you to visit?”Kyle who had walked out of his house after waking up to the hooting of a car horn, asked with his face contorted in rage. “You can just barge into my house unannounced. it’s ..”
Before he could finish the remaining words, a huge blow landed on his lips causing him to slump to the ground, his eyes clear enough to understand what was happening.
“Are you crazy?” Kyle roared out in anger as he spit out a mouthful of blood. “You’ve gone too far, Liam. I think it’s time you stopped acting like a child”
“Where’s Isabelle?”Liam dropped the question without mincing words, he pulled Kyle up by his collar and hit his back against the wall. “Where is she?” He roared in a fit of rage.
“I… I don’t know what you’re talking about”Kyle’s speech was sluggish as he struggled to breathe because of Liam who was strangling him. “She’s your fiancee, shouldn’t I be the one asking you such a question?”
“Don’t play dumb with me, Kyle” Liam snorted. “I know you hired a group of kidnappers to abduct her. I have evidence of your calls and bank transfer approval. Don’t even try to deny it again”
“Hahahah” Kyle laughed out like a maniac. “Well, I have no idea of where she is?… Why don’t you go and ask your little cousin, Max? He’s the one who’s obsessed with her”
“Kyle” Liam snapped and landed another blow on Kyle’s face. “You both have a hand in this. Only a coward would try to deny his involvement in a crime”
“Fine. I did take her, what do you want to do about it?” Kyle yelled back in anger. “She’s gone so far that your won’t be able to track her. I’m sure your cousin is taking good care of her, so no need to worry about it”
“You bastard” Liam cursed. “Where is she?”
“I will tell you where she is but on one condition” Kyle suggested with a sardonic smile on his lips, his gaze flashing with a touch of insanity. “If you can offer me what I want, I would not hesitate to tell you her whereabouts”
