(OLIVE’S VISION PART 3)
Finally, it was the Saturday of the match. Lois couldn’t wait to watch the game and she even got a new hairdo for the event. She had her nails done, got a very nice sports wear and bought a new pair of shoes. It was a VIP event, so she wanted to look like a VIP.
She took one last look at herself in the mirror. Her white joggers were neat and fitted her white sneakers. She wore a fancy white crop top and a baseball hat, with her ponytail sticking out from it.
“I look superb!” she squealed and jumped happily.
“I bet Walter Lance is going to see me dazzling in the stands”, she joked and twirled around.
She then looked at her wristwatch and it was thirty minutes to the time of the match. She grabbed her white fanny pack and clasped it over her arm then walked out of her room. She entered her kitchen and took a bottle of soda, gulped it down and returned it to the fridge. Then she headed out of her house.
She entered her Uber and in a few minutes, she was off to the venue of the match. When she arrived and gave them her ticket, she could see cars parked and people moving around. All rich people or those average ones that could afford the ticket.
She finally entered and sat at the third row, so she could have a better view of him and still be close enough. Shortly after she sat down, a man sat beside her. He was not very tall but was well built, and his tight t-shirt showed all his abs. Lois didn’t really take note of him but was centered on the tennis net. She was smiling at the thought of seeing Walter Lance up close in a few minutes. If only she could get a photograph with him or even an autograph.
“You smell really good,” the man said to her. She turned her head to look at his face. He was very handsome, not more than her Walter Lance though.
“Really? Thank you,” she replied with a heartwarming smile.
“You’re welcome,” he responded then she looked at the court again. He looked around them then back at her.
“It’s a very beautiful day, isn’t it?” he asked.
“Yeah. The weather’s perfect for a day like this,” she answered.
“So, are you here for Walter Lance or Justin McCullough?”
“Walter Lance. I love him.”
“Yeah, I was expecting that,” he muttered.
“What about you?” Lois asked.
“Not here for anyone. I just love tennis,”he answered.
“Great,” she cheered.
“You know, you’ve got a very beautiful smile. That’s why I spoke to you. I love girls that smile a lot,” he mused and she laughed happily.
“Really?” she asked.
“Yeah”
“That was so sweet. Thank you.”
“What’s your name?”
“I’m Lois,” she answered.
“Beautiful name. I’m Leo,” he stated and she smiled brighter.
“It’s a pleasure meeting you, Leo.”
“Pleasure meeting you too, Lois.”
They went on to talk about different things and laughed too. Then it was time for the match and the players walked into the court. Lois couldn’t contain her joy after she sighted Walter Lance. She got on her feet and screamed with the rest of the ladies who were screaming for him. Leo looked up at her and chuckled, then crossed his arms and looked at Walter Lance. He really didn’t know why ladies were head over heels for him.
Finally, the screaming ended and Lois sat down again.
“Why do you love him that much? There’s nothing special about him. He’s just another random player,” Leo stated and Lois frowned. He noticed it quickly and laughed.
“Joking. Walter Lance is an excellent player,” he added but Lois still didn’t smile. The game started and she was so excited. Everytime he scored, she made cheering sounds.
Finally, the game was over with a tie and she was too sad to leave. She wanted Walter Lance to win, not tie with his opponent.
Leo exchanged contacts with her, bade her good bye and left immediately. She sat still for awhile then left the place. She was about entering a taxi when she noticed her fanny pack that contained her wallet was not with her. She apologized to the driver and ran back into the place to get it. It was already dark and people had mostly gone. She had lingered because she thought she could see Walter afterwards.
She arrived at the stands and went to her row. Luckily, it was on the floor, between her chair and that of Leo.
“Oh, thank God! How would I have gotten home?” she asked no one in particular. She turned and began to run out before she could be accidentally locked in. Suddenly, she bumped into something hard and tall making her scream and fall down. She rolled over a few steps and laid on the ground, dusty and in pain.
“Oh my God!” she heard a man’s voice. She tried to look at the direction but dust had entered into her eyes and she couldn’t open them properly. She winced and tried to stand up but her hand that was supposed to give her support was too painful to even be lifted up.
She began to groan and wince. Her arm was not the only place that hurt. Her back, head and even legs hurt so bad. How was she so careless not to look at the place she was running into? Now, she’d ended up in pain. This was all her fanny pack’s fault.
“I’m so sorry. I was in a hurry and was not looking,” the man apologized again. He helped her sit up and began to wipe her face clean. She opened her eyes and saw a blurry figure of a man in front of her. He was cleaning her arms and legs.
“Are you hurt anywhere? That fall was too much. Did you break anything? How about your phone?” he asked while examining her whole body.
“My-my arm. I can’t raise my arm,” she stuttered and tried raising the arm. He held her gently there and looked it over.
“Your elbow, it’s been dislocated. And there are a few bruises on your body. Gosh, how could I be so reckless,” he mumbled and helped her stand. He held her waist and her good arm firmly.
“I’m going to take you to the hospital, okay?” he said and she nodded.
Somehow, she felt his voice was so familiar yet she couldn’t place her mind on it. The pain from her arm and her body was deafening her ears ability to understand sounds. Finally, they got to a brighter part of the stadium and she looked up at the man who was helping her. Her legs froze and her jaw dropped immediately. He wondered why she had stopped walking and looked at her.
“What is wrong? Do your legs hurt too?” he asked nervously and looked at her legs.
“Walter Lance. It’s you,” she muttered as she stared at him.
“Does that matter right now?” he asked with a very tiny smile it was almost as if it wasn’t there.
“Oh my God! I can’t believe this. It’s you. Please hug me, you gotta hug me,” she pleaded gently. She still felt pain.
“Seriously? Babe, you’re in pains. You rolled down a flight of stairs,” he said with an amused face.
“If you want me to be able to walk. Just hug me. You don’t know how long I’ve waited for this freaking day,” she pleaded again.
Finally, Walter let out all the laugh he’d been trying to hide. He laughed and hugged her gently.
“Oh, this is a dream come true,” she mumbled as she wrapped her good arm over his back.
“Yeah, can we go now? Your bruises are seeping out blood.”
“No, five more minutes,” she whispered and he laughed.
He had met so many female fans who were freaks over him and almost tore him to pieces when they saw him. But he had never met one so alluring and gentle. He liked this fan.
“Time’s up! Let’s go!” he stated and pulled away from her.
“Aww, not so soon,” she drawled and he chuckled.
“I’m in a hurry and have to get going soon. So, let’s get you to a hospital.”
Walter held her firmly again and they walked slowly towards the gate, with Lois stealing glances at Walter, almost not believing it was her celebrity crush that was holding her waist and walking with her.
