Aspen POV.
“Baby, are you there? Are you safe need me to go and get you?” I answer Eli worried about him, is he still in the airport, is he back at home? What’s going on with him?
“I made it to Ashy’s place, but please don’t be mad,” he says right away, I growled, I was angry at him, but not so angry, he’s safe back at Ashlynn’s place, away from here.
“Didn’t I say to wait for me?” I say, happy that he disobeyed me for once, but also trying to say it’s not okay to disobey me.
“Sorry daddy, Ash is sorry too aren’t you?” he says, I could hear a small hit sound and then a grunt before finally, Ash’s voice came on the line.
“Sorry for leaving without telling you so daddy, I was really mad at you, still am,” Ashlynn says, I’m okay with her being mad at me, as long as she’s talking to me and staying safe, there.
“Guys,” I say to them both, it’s better to keep them safe, but secrets are clearly not the way to go, if we keep on hiding things from each other, we’re gonna keep on fighting, over different reasons.
“Yes?” they both answer me, they are both using the phone now.
“We should agree on not hiding things from each other anymore yes?” I say on the phone.
“Deal,” Eli says right away.
“I agree, no hiding things from me,” Ashlynn says.
“No Ashlynn, we don’t hide things from each other, all three of us,” I correct her, she only whines over the phone.
“What were you going to tell us?” Eli asks me.
“I was attacked today,” I say not mentioning the fact that I almost died, but I’m alive and it’s all that matters.
“Are you okay! Do you want us to come back!” Eli asks me, he always thought that he was the strongest one around, he’s the one saving me if needed.
“No, I want you guys to stay away from here, stay where you two could be safe,” I tell them, hoping they would have fun over Ashlynn’s place, staying safe.
“We won’t leave you alone Aspen,” Ashlynn says, she’s the sweetest.
“No, honey, it’s better for you two to stay there,” I say in response, it’s safer for them to be away from me, away from the danger.
“But, I wanna be there with you,” Ashlynn says, although that’s adorable, and I do want her back, she’s safer there.
“I know baby, babies, I do want you two back too, but it’s not safe here, just stay there for a few more days,” I inform them both.
“Okay, we can stay here, but you have to promise us to call us in need of danger,” Eli says, sure I’ll call them if I need them, but I won’t need them, I won’t call them, not ever, they better stay safe.
“Okay, deal honey, please behave for each other, stay in your mother’s territories and tell your brothers to take care of you two,” I say knowing they would end up regressing at the same time and with me being away, it’s safer that way, to have someone to keep an eye on them.
“Okay, we will,” Eli answers me but Ashlynn was quiet again.
“Ashlynn?” I repeat her name hoping she’d answer me too now.
“I want you to come,” she says with a pouty voice, I could just imagine her pouting right now, it’s on her wanting to leave when she’s supposed to stay, we’re going to have a new rule of not leaving the country without me anymore if she’s mad she can go to her room and stay there until she calms down.
“I’m sorry baby, I can’t come right now, when it’s safer, we’ll meet up again,” I assure her, I was kind of happy that she still wants me, that she’s not over me, I want her too.
“Okay daddy,” she says with a pout again, Eli was the one who ended the call saying goodbyes and promising to be good and to brush his teeth.
I closed my phone and called Marco in my office, we’ve been chatting for a while now, my black car is wrecked, but I’m good, only a few scratches, but other than that I’m totally fine.
“Things are bad, too bad, boss,” he says sitting on the other side of my desk, I just nodded.
“Did you catch the one who was trying to kill me?” I ask him.
“We did and it’s not looking good,” Marco says making me growl, what else could happen now.
“What else?” I ask him, ready to hear the worse now, what else is going on?
“They are wolves, rogues, when the bullets didn’t kill you, they meant to do it with teeth and claws,” he tells me, really this is much worse.
“The wolves threat?” I ask Marco, the girl did mention that wolves are in this war too, things did really get much worse now.
“Yes, we chased them off, but it’s only two of them and me and the other guys, but we can’t really guarantee how many are on his side,” Marco continues.
“I thought rogues don’t belong to a pack, and I’m sure that idiot isn’t a wolf, you’ve seen a million times before,” I say this doesn’t make sense, how did he get the rogues on his side?
“They can be bought, he got the money, rumour is he’s been suspicious about wolves until he got one on his side, then others, and they know about Eli and I guess the sick psycho knows about Ashlynn,” he says.
This makes sense, but it’s also a big complication, wolves in this war, we’re not just using guns, we’re going to use teeth and claws, this just went from bad to worse, how do I fight back wolves without scaring half of my men or getting them killed.
“Marco,” I say needing to find a better plan.
“Yes, boss?” he answers me.
“We better pay him back for the favour, almost killing me, sending wolves, send it back, I want his headquarters to be bombed and brought down to the ground, followed by wolves howling, make sure the space is empty before you take it down,” I say with an evil smile, only one person has to die for this war to end, and it’s him, he won’t go down this easy, but this would be a good hit for his ego and a fair warning about using wolves against me.
