CHAPTER 100

Book:I Have Your Sons, Mr. CEO Published:2024-9-2

Two days ago…
Thoughts of one woman had constantly passed through his mind, especially in the mornings since he’d taken to jogging through the block against.
He had taken this chance to stay away from everything including things that had to do with her, still he couldn’t as she constantly filled up his mind…
The more he tries the harder it was for him to understand all of the madness that was going in through that minute.
Damien was trying to analyze his feelings for Riley and the best way he had thought was to completely shut her out of his mind.
That day established a pattern that he had followed for the past weeks –
The morning jogs, evening walks … All of these were just to stop him from getting crazy over things.
It had been filled with moments like this, he would get up, poke about the house, and do whatever he had to do over this laptop.
It had been two weeks since he took his annual leave and the only moment he had come across his friend and boss was when they took drinks at a pub or had lunch together.
All of this was done with half a mind, as he couldn’t still get rid of her thoughts from his mind as she constantly filled it .
Most of the other times when he seemed to find various reasons to be alone each evening and like he found it was becoming the favorite time of the day- He would read while trying to soak in the entire feeling of animosity that looked to be devouring him slowly…
All of it changed however, he was right there with uncertainty again back to where everything had started.
Things were about to change however as it looked like she was about to walk back into his life that he felt had been better without her.
That evening, the day had disappeared as usual, he had been back from his walk and realized that he was out of milk.
“Fuck.”He cussed running his fingers through his hair as he realized he would have to make that short trip back again to the mall.
The good thing was that it was always less busy at this time, and the bad … he was fucking tired.
He had thought he would have some time
alone and now this. Stretching and yawning, he looked at the fridge expectantly, as though wishing he could conjure the milk from the thin air.
He had slammed the door with a bit of fury before heading out .
The next few moments passed in a blur of activity. He had been quick to get out and picked up his car heading down the 24th Lane to the mall that shouldn’t take about Twenty minutes.
He arrived and had gone through the mall, just as guessed it wasn’t really filled up with people like he had anticipated.
He was nervous to return to his apartment and unwilling to stick around any moment… all he wanted was to bury himself In whatever till the
early hours of the morning after he’d came home looking exhausted and even more frustrated, quickly eating dinner before burying
himself in the study to catch up on the day event’s
At first he wanted to ignore the presence but he couldn’t she was standing not too far from where he was and he seemed pretty much annoyed about it .
She had started these conversations with the girl at the table trying to contribute, he thought about how he was going to get past her but soon concluded that it would be much more difficult for him to.
The fact being that her presence was superfluous. It irritated him that he couldn’t seem to get down to a conclusion no matter how much he tried, but since the entire event that has transpired between them he couldn’t stand her .
“I would pass for this.”He muttered.
She looked up at him and was surprised.”Damien, didn’t think I’d run Into you here.”
The look on his face wasn’t welcoming.”Nice to sew you too.”He looked around as though expecting he would see someone else.”
“How have you been? “She asked.
He wasn’t In the best of moods to get himself into conversation like this so she did what he thought he could at the moment.
“I will speak to you later .”he walked away.
Has he been too rude?
He thought about it as he walked to the car, he couldn’t wait a second as each felt like a flame was right there setting his soul ablaze… He drove home.
*****
She could sense his pain, a few times she even took a walk hoping to catch him sneaking about his office but nothing came of it.
She had given up on that when she saw that it wouldn’t get her anywhere, today finding him there created a different type of depth in her soul.
Riley found herself reminiscing about the ‘good old days’ of the previous week when she and Damien had had time to themselves.
She had arrived at Rhys’ apartment, he was so tired at night that he fell into bed and was sleeping before his head even hit the pillow.
“Oh you’re back?”She asked.
He merely grunted while he did put his arm around her if she snuggled up close, she doubted he was aware of what she was doing.
Even when he was awake, he seemed
preoccupied and spent what little free time he had chatting over work, she scrolled down her phone stealing a glance at him as she texted a man she hadn’t seen in weeks.
“Hi, Damien.”
*****
A fucking text!
That was all it had started as, only if he hadn’t replied, he did and since then.
Damien bypasses the mirror, it had been Twenty minutes since that last call from her at the moment he was doing all he could to get rid of that anger he still felt, an anger birthed from the fact that she had been calling him for the past days for whatever reasons and just like he had said he was capable of doing, he had rejected her calls on those instances.
He reached the stairs, when the phone rang. Damien hesitated then shook his head.”Nope.”
He froze, one foot on the bottom step, digging his fingers into his hair, when it rang again he was going to ignore but saw it was Chris
“Hello man, how has your break been.”
They spoke for a brief moment with the letter telling him that he had to show up that evening even if he felt reluctant to.
When he eventually agreed, it was with a smirk on his face … He Knew what to do.
