Chapter 369

Ying Xiaoxiao did not understand why the two of them would think that the problem was so complex. Was it because of the Shen Family? Were they afraid that Yayoi was not good enough for Morphy?
What a joke! This was the modern era. Families being well-matched in social status were a thing of the past!
Now, love reigned over all. Everything else was like fleeting clouds!
“It’s just that…”
Rosiley explained the real situation, slowly and methodically. Ying Xiaoxiao listened to her quietly, her face getting grimmer the more she listened. But Yayoi herself was very calm, totally unruffled on the surface.
“F**k!” The moment she finished hearing Rosiley speak, Ying Xiaoxiao slapped the table and shot up. “I must still look for Morphy and settle the score with him!”
“Xiaoxiao, must you be so impetuous?” Rosiley knitted her brows, showing her displeasure in her tone.
Ying Xiaoxiao was so infuriated that she started to laugh. “Rosiley, Yayoi has been so badly bullied. Are you indifferent to that? Will you simply let things go?”
“No.” Rosiley shook her head. She turned back, gazing intently at Yayoi and saying gently, “I know what’s good for Yayoi. That’s why I have no other choice but to do this.”
After that, she turned and looked at Ying Xiaoxiao, saying quite solemnly, “Xiaoxiao, not everything you fight for will turn out fine. You may end up at the other extreme.”
Ying Xiaoxiao bit her lip. What Rosiley said was quite true. She was raised in a family of soldiers and knew that soldiers were all very stubborn and loyal. Old Master Shen had served in the army for decades. He had to be really stubborn, and it would be almost impossible to change his mind.
Moreover, the girl that Morphy was engaged to was the granddaughter of Old Master Shen’s savior. That compounded the problem.
When she thought about this, Ying Xiaoxiao had to recognize the facts. She stumbled back to her seat and said angrily, “But I can’t just let it go.”
Rosiley gave her a gentle smile. “I know how you feel. Were Morphy not Sachin’s cousin, I would have given him a beating to vent our frustration.”
Anyone who dared to bully her bosom friend had to be tired of living.
Ying Xiaoxiao reluctantly jerked up the corner of her lips. Then she looked at the silent Yayoi. “Have you really decided to give up?”
“And otherwise?” Yayoi smiled, turning to look at the busy street outside the French windows. “I know my limits. What’s mine will be mine. What cannot be mine, I won’t insist on having.”
Pale sunlight shone through the French windows onto her face. Her expression seemed so unreal, enveloped in the sun.
Yet one could sense a faint, desolate loneliness in that expression.
Rosiley and Ying Xiaoxiao exchanged glances and sighed gently. They no longer said anything.
In order for Yayoi to not wallow in her depression, Xiaoxiao stood up. “Come on, let me take you gals out for a hearty meal!”
“Sure. But it must be your treat.” Rosiley responded to complement Xiaoxiao.
“My treat. You gals can eat whatever you like!” Xiaoxiao patted her chest valiantly.
Rosiley smiled, turning toward Yayoi, and said, “Yayoi, we must fleece her over the meal.”
Yayoi knew that they were trying to cheer her up and flashed a radiant smile. “That’s right, we must certainly fleece her.”
“Although I’m mentally prepared to get fleeced by you gals, please show mercy, fair ladies.”
Rosiley and Yayoi looked at each other and smiled. They spoke in one voice, “Don’t even dream about it!”
Xiaoxiao immediately pulled a long face. “You mean I’ve boarded a pirate ship?”
Knowing that she was only pretending, the three of them burst into spontaneous laughter.
They felt that all their unhappiness and miseries had vanished in that instant.
No matter what happened, whether they were happy or sad, they would always be accompanied by good friends.
Actually, this alone was enough.
