CHAPTER 79

Book:I Have Your Sons, Mr. CEO Published:2024-9-2

She knows this road they had stopped like the back of her palms, if she had a choice she wouldn’t sit and try to engage him, instead would have taken a ride and got out of there.
She locked eyes with him again and took a quick glance at her time…
It’s going to be fine…she tells herself over and over again.
They were nearing a quiet road with three lanes when they had stopped, till this moment she couldn’t tell why, she felt it just happened –
****
Shocked at how the car was suddenly pulled into an abrupt stop she shared the moment with him, it was hard to tell what was going through his mind at that minute, she gazed right at him where he was and could literally tell that his mood was the same as her’s-confused.
Her eyes were spitting flames at this point, she knew it was impossible for her to act like everything that was happening was normal, if she did it would be her showing her vulnerability.
“What do you want?”She questioned.
All Chris did was look, it was obvious that he can’t impose anything on her at this moment, but still with her mind kindling away he thought it was best that he had the conversation with her.
She could see that look on his face and could tell that he was up to something, still what it was it was hard of her to say at that moment, she felt it was best for her to let the situation slide and that was only possible if she moved the fucking call.
“Will just start the fucking car this place is risky.”Her eyes widened with fear
Listening to the sound her heart made it would be easy to see through everything that seems to be the situation at that moment-
It was obvious to her that he saw all this as a joke as he grins back at her.”This is perfect. It’s so refreshing to have someone around that actually cares about you, you know that right?”He spoke with sarcasm.
She could feel the hint of everything being said, he was trying to get into her head, she had seen him try thay tactics a thousand times to get his contract and she wasn’t going to let it work on her.
“I haven’t had someone like that in a long time.”she countered.
He was taken back by her words, in a way he felt all confused, her words confused her.
“I understand that it might be a bit difficult trying to understand certain things but if there is anything that you must know, it is the fact that what I feel for you is more than anything…”
“I don’t want to listen to whatever to have to say, You’ve said it a thousand times and still nothing -”
She couldn’t bring herself to think, she just sat right there at the spot she was in, not able to speak or do anything else.
She had taken this risk sharing a space with him, yet in a way, all of this made her seem confined.
He leans closer and her breath seizes…Her mind kept racing round what he was about to do.
The moment takes her back to weeks back, it had been the exact same thing occurrence –
She freezes in her chair, fear creeping up her spine or was it anxiety.
She just knows it left a feeling deep in her soul she wanted to rid herself off.
It makes sense, of course, all of what had happened…she thought about that brief moment he had walked out.
Was it to tamper with something?
It still seemed awkward to her that the car just stopped working abruptly.
Could it be that all of this was well planned for him to get to her. He’s a monster and master manipulator. Anyone with half a shred
of sanity wouldn’t be here with him or he would find his way to the back of their mind like he was doing …
Just like she should, she decided that it would be best not to give in to him- she keeps her face carefully neutral as she speaks, she knew quite alright that it would be Insanity to engage him yet it was exactly what she did –
“Well, I’m still here. So, maybe that tells you something.”she took a breath.”If you were in my shoes, what would you do?”
As she asks he could feel his heart beating, what would he do if he was in her shoes?
She just asked the stupidest question and it was like giving her a gun.
Of course it felt a bit more difficult thinking about it but it was obvious there was nothing she could do as her word’s that minute were like spilled milk.
The most bitter part was that the guilt was fading, the same was the anger that was smeared to her conscience, she could feel it sink deeper into her soul leaving echoes from her heart sinking back into the darkness..
To clear it off she leaned her head against the headrest of the car and tilted it up for a deep breath, it was all quiet as though he was in deep thoughts about what she had said, in short…she should be the one feeling this way not her.
A familiar awareness brushed her bare skin, she rolled her head to the side to see him looking at her with a lazy stare.
“You asked what I will do?”He questioned.
His deep voice touched her ears, and she shivered from the sound filling the silent corridor of her heart.
He learned even closer, this time she could feel his breath like it was hers to take, she could feel as her breasts tightened as warmth ran a languid path between her legs.
Laura tried all she could to stop the strange feeling and swallowed so she could push the breathlessness away, still nothing more than ricochetting from her heart.
She was feeling edgy tonight. A hint of a smile pulled on his lips, and he wiped at it with a thumb before looking back at her with a gaze so intense.
Butterflies erupted, time clashes as he kissed her lips.
****
He pulled away from her after what could have been the best kiss she ever had.
As he did, he gave one heated gaze into her eyes like he could see her soul.
He licked his lips and didn’t say a thing, he just looked hoping that whatever this wasn’t going to leave him all worried and all, he gave a disbelieving laugh.
“That was crazy, he muttered. We can’t be here.”
He glanced at me, a sly glint in his eyes.”I thought you asked the question, what I gave was my reply.”
Shamed, she glanced out the window and felt like he had just taken her for granted, she
couldn’t believe she’d been walking on thin lines a while ago and now she was this deep.
“You’re going to get us killed,”she announced.
“By who?”
“Antonia…Rian.”She rolled her eyes.
He shook his head before pinning her with a gaze that pooled with. intensity.”Do you think I care about them?”
If there were any answers it was a visceral response in her head telling her that all of this was fake and was coming from being drunk, both of them.
Yet she warmed from his words, though was uncertain of how to feel-
“Trust me?”he muttered again.
The fact that she’d told him that it was over and nothin could be between them just moments ago flashes her .
She swallowed, because the way he’d said it, all soft and rough, all needy enough that it
burned through her chest and straight to a place she had tried to protect.
She glanced outside the glass, at this place they were in, her stomach tightened at one fact.
It would be harder to forget such an evening.
Taking her silence for consent he kissed her again.
