CHAPTER 59

Rian was distracted by his phone buzzing, with one finger in the air he wagged his finger asking for her to halt whatever she wanted to say.
She watches him leave again, when he makes his way out, he addresses the Issue straight away.
“I need us to talk.”She still tries convincing him.
He barely looked her way as she spoke, as he was in a rush to leave.”This can wait, I really need to leave.
She listened as he drove off. Her heart was beating heavily as she thought about the entire situation while trying to get her mind to think about how she was going to get the news to him.
He had seemed rather frustrated at her for reasons that had to do with a certain Christian that didn’t seem to care about her.
She was more confused about the way he was seeing things and wondered if this was her just over reacting or truly if he was indeed being all paranoid.
Still as the thoughts sank in her mind, she distracted herself by the need to do something that would stop her from thinking about the situation, since she was free for the day… And was having her rest, she thought it was best to do something to get the thought out of her mind.
She was trying to bake before the arrival of the twins. A knock from the door distracted her and she thought it was Rian who returned, so she walked to the door as fast as she could and opened it.
In a way, she was hoping that he’d be the person, instead she opened and saw Riley at the other side, she had a bottle of wine in one hand and a file in another as she nodded as she glanced at her.
Riley’s mind was filled with deep understanding completely. As long as she could see her doing something she felt that it would be good .
She walked into the room with a concerned look on her face, she opened the wine bottle and had two cups out.
Laura walked into the living room with a pan of muffin.
“So what are you saying, that you can’t tell him what this is all about?”
There was a concerned look on her face, this time she wasn’t thinking too inertly about the entire situation.
“You should have seen the way he acted, I do think that all of this makes it very poor timing.”
As she spoke, she sighed and picked up the plate.
Riley helped with the muffin, she could feel her stomach rumble faintly, though she felt no desire to eat.
Riley could sense that bit of underlying instability in her.
“So do you think that all of these can make something work out, you said you wanted to treat him to dinner right?”Riley pointed out at what she had said earlier.
“Yes, I hope that is a good plan though.”She muttered.
“Can’t say but one thing I know is that this, all of this is not a bad plan.”
As she listened to her, she picked up her fork and started shoveling food anyways, she could tell that all she was about to do felt crazy but lost, definitely worth taking the risk.
“So what are you suggesting I do.”She weighed the thought deep in her mind again about asking.
She thought over what she said as she ate, Riley was right, the past was over and all they could was move on. Still while it didn’t seem so much as her fault, she couldn’t help the guilt that swamped her when she thought of how she would react if she was in his shoes.
He had been there for her in the most important time of life and if she’d say that she loved this man with everything-
He had been silly most of the time, yet when it mattered he had been right there at her side.
“I don’t think this is the best time to do any of this.”She muttered.
“What do you mean?”Riley asked.
Laura sighed as she set down his plate, half finished. She’d choked down as much as he could and had gotten bored, there was no point in thinking about her past, especially not right now. She had enough on as it was.
He took a drink of the wine, and let it water down her throat.
“Ma’am?”Riley persisted, still arching her brow.
Laura frowned as the sound reached her ears, but when her gaze shot to Riley, she was in the exact same position she had been in, completely unchanged.
Heart racing to her again, her breath froze in
her chest when she saw that her blue eyes were open and she was looking right at her.
“Riley,”she said, her voice scratchy from disuse.”I am not going with the deal.”
“Oh, damn”she forced out through a throat tight with emotion.
She stood up and shot out of the chair, she made her way to the sink that was by her side, brushing a hand over her face. She freaked out.”Do you know what this is all about?”
“I know, I just don’t want all the drama that is coming with this.”
She tried to clear her throat, wincing as she did so.”Can you just let us relax? ”
Looking around frantically she still looked a bit confused, she turned around and gingerly slipped a hand under her shoulders.
“What do you suggest I do?”She asked.
“Tell him, tell Rian.”
The change in her mind had felt so abrupt, and even after she’d gotten to know that it would be a whole lot difficult, she was serious about not telling him, she realized in the back of her mind that she had been so long for all of this.
She understood now that the change wasn’t abrupt; this was the real her. And the real her wanted so much to get this over with.
Standing up to Rain took guts, too. That man was definitely a snake and as bad as her past had been, it was nothing compared to him.
Taking a deep breath, she stuck to her initial plan.
“I am doing this.”She muttered.
