Kylie’s P. O. V
I stood frozen in front of his big wooden table as he slowly placed three papers in front of me on top of the table.
“What are they?” I asked in a broken voice. Crying for a long time made my throat swollen.
“You can read, so go ahead and read them,” he said with a smug look, placing his hands on the armrest of his big swivel chair.
I took the first paper swiftly as I was short of time. It was a marriage registry from. Was he kidding me? I grabbed the next paper and it shook me to my core. A slavery contract? He wanted me to be his sex slave for one year? I looked at the last piece of paper. It was a cheque of fifteen million dollars but there wasn’t any signature on it.
“Are you making fun of my situation? What are they?” I yelled at him as anger surged through my veins.
“I am not making fun of anything and I am interested in doing so. I am simply making a deal, you know as a businessman,” he said with a smirk.
“What kind of business deal consists of a slavery contract?” I was getting frustrated.
“The deal is simple, you will sign the first two letters. Then I will sign the third one for you. This cheque can cover your father’s surgery and post-operative treatments. Also, you will get a huge amount each time you have sex with me,” he stated like it was a simple business deal. For God’s sake, he was talking about my life.
“What do you think of me? Do you think I am a prostitute and you can give me money for sleeping with me? And what about this marriage registry? Do you think marriage is just a simple paper for you to make a deal? How can you stoop so low Sebastian Smith?” I said as tears formed at the corner of my eyes.
“I need a wife to present in front of my grandmother. That’s why the marriage. And of course, you don’t deserve to be my wife or get treated as one, thus the slavery contract. You know I always wanted to try bondage, it excites me,” he gave a devilish smile before continuing, “Of course, I am not asking you to do anything for free. You need money and I need a slave, simple business deal. Taking it or not is simply up to you,” he stood up, buttoning the suit jacket.
“Oh, I heard your father needs the surgery by tonight. Give him my good wishes,” he said and left the office leaving me alone with the papers on the table.
I slumped my body on the chair, grabbing my hair with my fist. What should I do?
Earlier today….
I received a call from the hospital during lunch break informing me of my father’s health condition. I rushed out of the office to reach the hospital without realizing that Cindy was right behind me.
“Kylie, where are you running to? Who called you,” Cindy asked as soon as she caught me up in front of the office building. I hugged her as I started crying my heart out.
“Cindy, it’s Dad. He had another stroke and now he’s in a coma,” I said in between my sobs.
“Ssshhh, don’t cry. You are a strong girl. Just calm down, okay? Let’s go to the hospital” she said wiping my tears then hailed a cab.
“W-what will I do if something happens to him?” I kept crying all the way to the hospital.
“Nothing will happen to him. You said he was in good health just last week. Then what happened suddenly?” Cindy asked, but I wasn’t in any state to think about these at that moment.
“Doctor, where’s my father? What happened to him?” I asked as soon as we reached the hospital and went straight to the ICU. Before the doctor could answer me, Mom came running to me and hugged me. Her eyes were red from crying. Her swollen face and silver hair made her look so old at that moment.
“Mr. Johnson had a major stroke this morning, The surgery we were planning to do after six months, we have to do it immediately along with a major brain surgery. Or else, we won’t be able to save him,” Doctor Silva said.
“Then what are you waiting for? Do it now,” Cindy said before I could say anything.
“The problem is the cost of this surgery. It’s extremely expensive. Previously we only had to do surgery for his spine injury but now we have to operate on the CNS. Also, Miss Johnson applied for a waiver fund last time and that can be given only after six months. And you need to deposit the money for the surgery by tonight,” he paused.
“How much is the cost of this surgery?” I asked in a shaky voice.
“It will be nearly ten dollars,” he stated making the air in my chest stuck.
Present time…
I tried to manage the money event went to the bank for a loan but none worked. So as a last resort, Cindy suggested I ask for a loan from the company. But instead, I was slapped with a marriage contract. What do I do now?
“No, no, no Kylie, you cannot self-esteem for money,” I mumbled only for me to hear. But was my self-respect more important than the life of my father? Though Mom told me that it was okay if I couldn’t manage the money, Dad would endure his fate. But I knew how much she loved Dad, I knew how hard it was for her to make this decision. No, I can’t let them suffer, I will save my father no matter what.
After dwelling a few times, I wiped my tears and picked up the marriage registry form. It was a contract marriage only for one year. If my father can live a healthy life then enduring Sebastian for one year means nothing compared to that. I will sign it. I will marry my cold-hearted ex-boyfriend for the money for the surgery.
