Book:My happiness to you Published:2024-9-2

Tell me about it, I chuckled, switching on the radio as Lily rolled her window down.
Suddenly, One Direction came blaring through the speakers and I cringed inwardly. Ahh ! I said, reaching over to change the station immediately.
There was no way I was driving with One Direction blaring out the windows. The embarassment would be too much. But just as my fingers closed around the dial, Lily’s hand shot out and stopped me.
I can’t believe I’m saying this, she laughed. But could you leave that on ?
I gaped at her as she grinned at me and starting bobbing her head, singing to music. Please don’t tell me you like them ? I begged, looking at her out of the corner of my eye.
No, I don’t, she said, her dancing getting more vigorous as she practically bounced in her seat and started waving her arms around. But this one song just gets me moving and I wish it didn’t, but it does.
I shook my head and burst out laughing in amazement as she leaned out the window, her hair flying behind her as she carried on bobbing to the awful music. But there was absolutely no way I was changing the station. Seeing Lily so carefree was a rarity, so I took the oppourtinity to laugh and watch her as she attempted to dance to the song whilst simultaneously leaning out of the car. After a minute or two, to my shame I actually found myself tapping my foot along to the song.
And as I looked over at Lily with the huge grin on her face, something told me that the three weeks would go a lot quicker than I thought.
Noah POV :
So as it turned out, the three weeks flew by quicker than I thought they would. My mind drifted as I stood outside Lily’s classroom and leant against the wall as students shuffled past. Having spent countless nights on the rooftop with Lily listening to her songs, laughing as we watched movies together or led in the park under the sun, the days all seemed to merge together in to the best three weeks of my life.
Smiling softly to myself at the memories that would forever stay with me, I leant forward and peeked through the small glass panel on the classroom door. Lily had her back to me and was chatting to her professor about the paper in her hand. We had both worked hard over the past three weeks to get all of our assignments finished and handed in early, so we could take a few extra days of college without feeling too guilty about it.
As I watched Lily hand over her paper, she nodded at the professor and turned around to walk out. She saw me glancing through the glass and grinned at me, giving me a thumbs up as she reached the door.
Swinging it open, Lily grabbed hold of my hand and practically started dragging me along the corridor. I couldn’t help but grin at her enthusiasm to get on the road. Jeez, I chuckled. Slow down would you ? You’re pretty close to ripping my arm out of it’s socket right now.
I felt her slow down and glance back at me. Sorry, she grinned sheepishly. It’s just that we’re finally ready to go and I’m really excited to see Jackie again and the rest of your family.
Me too ! I smiled. But do you see me man handling you through the corridor where everyone can see you being bossed around so forcefully ?
She laughed and raised her eyebrow at me. Who says I’d mind being man handled by you college boy ? Lily whispered, almost daring me to try it.
Well in that case, I chuckled, lunging forward and scooping her in to my arms like she weighed nothing. It looks like the tables have now turned, huh gorgeous ?
I ignored the weird looks we were getting from other students passing by through the hall, and just held Lily tighter against me as she started squirming and trying to wriggle her way free. Noah, she mumbled, trying to sound serious. Put me down right now.
Uhhhhh, I said, pretending to consider it. Nope, don’t think I will.
People are staring at us, Lily whispered, shielding her face as people laughed and pointed as we passed by. God, you are so infuriating !
Laughing loudly, I turned and pushed through the double doors with my back. A few students were sitting on the grass and the sun was shining down, a perfect day to get on the road. Finally, I placed Lily on the floor and stepped back, a huge grin on my face.
So did you enjoy the experience of being man handled gorgeous ? I shrugged, ignoring the face Lily was pulling at me. I bet it turned you on a little, am I right ?
I just watched amused as Lily spun and stomped down the steps towards her Harley parked to the left on the street. Just before she reached the bottom step, she faced me and smiled momentarily. If you blinked, you would have missed it, but it was there.
You really are annoying, she said, obviously trying not to smile. But I guess that’s what makes you, you.
Um, thanks I think ! I muttered, trying to work out if it was a compliment or a thinly veiled insult.
Either way, I shook the thought away and bounced down the steps to Lily’s side. I threw my arm over her shoulder and pulled her in close, an overwhelming sense of happiness flooding through me as we walked to the Harley. Today was the day we started our road trip from California to Michigan, a long winded drive, but one that would no doubt turn in to one of the best things I’d done, especially driving with the girl I loved.
As we stepped up to the Harley, I paused and watched as Lily swung her leg over and straddled the bike, sticking the key in the ignition. No matter how many times I saw her sitting on it like that, it made my heart beat a little quicker. I was still amazed at how just looking at Lily could make me feel so many things that I had never felt before she came in to my life.
Oh come on dude, I heard her laugh, throwing her hands up in the air in an exaggerated fashion. Everytime I get on the bike you just stand there and gawk at me. I thought you would have been used to it by now !
So did I, I muttered, my eyes raking over her tight black shorts and the flimsy buttoned shirt she was wearing. But it seems that no matter how many times I see you straddling that bike, it never fails to get my motor running.
She burst out laughing and patted the seat behind her. Just get on the bike will you, she smiled. We’ve gotta go back to the apartment and get our stuff, and then say goodbye to Jen and Dean.
Stepping up to the bike, I threw my leg over and reached under Lily’s blouse, wrapping my arms around her waist. I smiled when she looked over her shoulder and raised her eyebrow questioningly. You know it works just as well when you hold on over my shirt, right ? She asked sarcastically.
Sure, I nodded innocently, stroking her bare skin.. But it doesn’t as feel good as this.
Be that as it may, she laughed. If me stroking you puts you off driving, don’t you think it’s plausible that I find it kind of distracting ?
Maybe, I nodded, leaning forward and resting my head on her shoulder, But you have much better self control than I do, so let’s go driver ! I’m trusting you not to crash in to a wall and kill us both.
Well thanks for the support, she muttered sarcastically, before turning around and kissing me on the tip of the nose lightly. Guess we better get home. We’ve got bags to pick up !
Hell yeah ! I grinned as we pulled out in to traffic and drove towards the apartments, the excitement of finally going home and seeing my family becoming almost too much.
………………………………………
Lily POV :
So, you guys all ready to go ? Jen smiled as Noah and I stepped out of my bedroom with our backpacks slung over our shoulders.
Yep, I nodded happily. Bags are packed, the sun is shining. A perfect start to a thirty hour road trip !
I still can’t believe you two have decided to drive rather than fly, Dean said as he leapt off the sofa and walked over to us. You know you’re extending your journey by like…. twenty-eight hours, or something like that.
Of course we know, Noah smiled, taking my hand. But all that extra time will give Lily and me the chance to have a little fun, if you catch my drift.
Dean and Noah burst out laughing, but as I listened to them, a pang of nerves hit my stomach. He didn’t know it yet, but I was ready to be with him. In fact, I had been ready for a while, I was just too scared to admit it to him. My experience was limited, and I didn’t even know how to bring it up. Pushing the thought to the back of my mind, I smiled and whacked him on the arm, stopping the high five that Dean was in the process of initiating.
