Diego’s POV
I know I shouldn’t be here, but I find myself unable to resist the approach. Kamara wasn’t picking up my calls and I needed to check to see how my child was doing. Only to find her chatting with another man happily. I don’t know which is more annoying. Seeing her holding hands with the guy or the peaceful look in her eyes.
Kamara snatched her hand away from the man and it strangely soothed me. “What are you doing here?”
“You would have known if you answered your phone and not here flirting with whoever this is.” I bellowed.
“Excuse me. My name is Brandon.” The man introduced himself.
“Who is this, Kamara?”
“It’s no one. Just don’t worry. Let’s go talk in your car.” She replied wrinkling her face.
I scoffed in disbelief. “Did you just say I am no one? Is he one of your admirers? Haven’t you told him?”
Kamara pulled at my hand, fixing her jaw tightly. “Shut up and let’s go.”
“I don’t want to. You don’t get to order me around.” I gritted.
She shut her eyes mumbling some unclear words. Just then she pulled roughly at my arm. But a painful wince escaped her lips instead as she grabbed a hold of her belly.
“Are you okay?” I asked looking around her.
Brandon rushed towards her putting his hand around her waist. It didn’t sit right with me. “What’s wrong, baby?”
“M…my tummy.” She managed to say. Scrunching up her face in extreme pain.
“What the hell?” I bellowed when blood trickled down her legs. “I need to get her to the hospital right now,” I said holding her to me.
“Get your hands off her. If anyone is taking her away from here it would be me. I don’t even know you.” Brandon argued.
Inhaling sharply, I turned my scary eyes on him. “If you know what is good for you. You will let her go right this minute or you will end up knowing me.” I gritted.
He didn’t let her go until she was safe in the back of my car. I drove carelessly to the hospital after calling the doctor to prepare for the emergency. The nurses rushed towards us as they wheeled her off to the emergency room. My heart raced so fast and I can’t even imagine what was going to happen to her.
After forty long minutes. The doctor came out to meet me. She had a forlorn look on her face.
“What happened?” I asked, biting down on my lips like I already knew the answer.
“I am so sorry Mr. Sanchez. She lost the baby.” The doctor announced.
I let out a loud gasp feeling my chest clench. This has got to be some kind of joke. “It is barely a month. How did that happen?” I asked feeling distorted.
“There are many reasons why she could have had the miscarriage. Situations like this are common for IVFs. But then, it might seem like she hasn’t been taking her medications right and the pain definitely didn’t start today.”
“So the signs were there?”
“Yes, sir. You can’t blame her though. The drugs might have been nauseating.”
I can sense the use of words but I don’t care. “Of course, she is to blame.” I cursed storming towards the room with the doctor hot on my tail. “How dare you!” I growled at Kamara.
Her face looked pale and her lips dry. But none of it bothers me. Her selfishness is the reason I just lost my first child.
“What do you think this is? How dare you play on my intelligence and harm my child?” I questioned in a raised tone.
“It’s not my fault.” She defended weakly with obvious fake tears rolling down her eyes.
“Shut the fuck up you lying bitch! I feel stupid for trusting you and thinking that you might be more reasonable. It is obvious you were just desperate to get your parent’s house back and you didn’t mind taking any offer. The doctor already made your neglect known. Were you that eager to get back in bed with that bastard I saw you with? I don’t even care as it is. I will make you pay for this, Kamara.” I panted.
“Please, Mr. Sanchez. She is just recuperating. This noise might rush up her blood pressure.”
I turned a cold glare to the doctor causing her to cower. “Do I look like I give a fuck about how she might be feeling? She should have thought about that before acting stupidly and ignoring the obvious signs. Well, let me tell you how this is going to work. My nana wants a child and she already thinks one is on the way. So you will get injected again with my sperm and you had better pray to the heavens that you fall pregnant or your life will be ruined. That is a promise.”
“You can’t do that, sir. She can’t be injected again. Her life would be at stake and everything we have been doing will go to waste.” The doctor interjected.
“What do you mean? Are you saying she can’t fall pregnant again?”
“Not that sir. What I mean is she would need to conceive naturally this time. She can’t undergo another Infusion unless a lot of time has passed.”
I cursed under my breath, pulling at my hair. All the while, Kamara sat stiffly staring blankly at the wall. I feel like strangling that neck of hers and watching her wither away just like my unborn child. I clenched my teeth while trying very hard to control my anger. Exhaling sharply, I bent over her.
“You had better not play funny. If you do I will make every member of that miserable family of yours pay. You either give me my child or you end up buried in the sea. And I am not fumbling. I mean every damn word. Better be ready to provide me with my child when next we see!”
With that, I stormed out of the hospital. I can’t remember the last time I felt this much pain. Not even when my parents died. Kamara will pay with her blood for doing this to me. I swear it.
