Book:SOLD TO THE BILLIONAIRE. Published:2024-9-2

Liam walked into his penthouse with a glacial expression on his face and Isabelle trailed behind him with a dejected look. He couldn’t get his mind off the fact that his fiancee and his cousin had something going on that he didn’t know about. His anger simmered just below the surface, threatening to be leashed on anybody who crossed his path. He effortlessly ignored the greeting of his maid like a gentle breeze that blew past his ear, causing the young lady to blush with embarrassment.
Anastasia’s gaze lingered on Isabelle, a mysterious glint in it as she thought of the plan she had in mind. She watched their silhouette disappear amidst the stairs, an evil smile curving on her face.
The moment Liam and Isabelle got to the bedroom, Isabelle felt the urge to say something about Max’s words, something to get his mind off it but the coldness emanating from him, made her feel that a thick wall was standing between them. “Liam…. I think we should…”
“You should go to sleep, it’s late” Liam interjected her words, a frosty tone in his voice, a stern expression on his face. “I will sleep in the study room so you can have your privacy”
Isabelle was cut deep in the heart by his words. His response showed that he was bothered by the incident but didn’t want to talk about it. She couldn’t help but question the reasons why he decided to keep quiet about it. “Are you sure about that?…. I never mentioned anything about wanting my privacy”
“I know but I think we both need some space for now… Good night” Liam said, in a hoarse voice as he walked out of the room to avoid making eye contact with her. He was hurt deep down in his heart. His anger was just a facade to mask his pain. He knew she was also in distress, but he couldn’t bring himself to comfort her with his agony. He found it hard to believe that the warmth that existed between them earlier that day, had already become a thing of the past.

Liam had left his home as early as possible for his company, to avoid seeing Isabelle. He still wasn’t ready to speak with her, his mind wasn’t settled yet. With a wave of his hands, he dismissed the workers who had come to welcome him.
“Good morning, Mr. Callahan” Sarah greeted when she saw Liam walk out from the elevator, her voice filled its anticipation. She had been waiting patiently for him to deliver the updates and the outcome of the work she had been tasked with. “It’s nice to see you again”
Liam could ignore the greetings of other workers but not his hard worker of a secretary. He tried his best to mask his feelings and ended up replying with a distant tone that made Sarah confused but she knew well not to pry.
“What is the essential information I need to know of?” Liam questioned, his gaze on the new pile of documents in his office. “What did I miss?”
“Nothing much sir” Sarah replied, her tone enthusiastic, her eyes glittering with excitement. “Those are the list of budgets to fund the new projects, the one you requested for. And also, the neurologist you asked me to research on, I found a good one”
“What about it?” Liam asked, his tone filled with curiosity and his gaze flashing with expectancy. “I hope it’s good news”
“Of course, it is sir” Sarah nodded in affirmation. “I spoke to the neurologist about Penelope’s condition and he said that there was a high chance of her waking up again, with the right resources and specialists, she will be fine… He’s coming from China”
“Good news indeed. Book a first-class ticket for him, all the cost on me” Liam responded with a satisfying smile curved on his lips, at least something was working in his favor. “How about Adrian, has he upgrade the security system to the standard I requested?”
“Yes sir, he has… He’s been spending a lot of nights in his office. I even had to bring dinner for him once in a while” Sarah murmured to herself which was clear enough for Liam to hear. “He’ll be fine”
“Sarah…. Is there something you both are hiding from me?… When did you both become so close that you now cook for him” Liam questioned, his brows arched in suspicion as he eyed Sarah who was already blushing hard.
“Mr… Mr. Callahan.. I’m just trying to be nice to a colleague. I.. I don’t see anything wrong in helping him” Sarah faltered in her speech, trying hard to defend herself. “Nothing is going on”
“Hmmm… Be rest assured that I have nothing against the both of you being together. Just don’t let it get in the way of your jobs” Liam assured her but with a warning tone in his voice. “The main project that will transcend above the height of the project Phoenix will be ready by tomorrow. I just need to make some adjustments”
“Wow! Really?… That’s great news… I should announce to the workers to prepare for it” Sarah rejoiced, her gaze full of praise as she gazed at her boss. Excitement was an understatement as to how she felt regarding the news. The loss of the project phoenix was a big blow to them, now they were about to make something bigger.
Liam thought about her words of informing them and disagreed immediately. “Don’t inform them. We don’t want the same incident to occur again. The enemy might be into us, I can’t take any chances”
“I’m so sorry boss” Sarah apologized, regret in her tone as she blamed herself for totally forgetting about the last incident. “I’ll just wait till the project is ready”
“It’s alright, just don’t forget to book a flight for the China neurologist we are inviting over,” Liam said, his tone calm and serene as he anticipated good news in the near future. If he could get Penelope to wake up, then half of his problems would be solved. He just needed to exercise more patience and try to sort out other issues. But Isabelle….
