Liam strutted out of Isabelle’s room with his face as cold as stone, revealing no emotions but his heart in distress and great turmoil. He thought he could pretend not to care about the incident at the dining table but he had already knocked on her door before realizing his actions. Hinting at the contract was a mistake on his part. He wanted her to lean on him and not away from him, but he kept on ruining things at every opportunity he got.
From a distance, he could see the silhouette of a lady standing by the door of his study room. Moving closer, he confirmed her to be the maid.
“Why are you here?” He asked with a skeptical tone. He felt a bit of apprehension towards but her cute face made people think she was harmless so he let her stay.
Anastasia’s eyes were glittering with something unacceptable,” sir, I just wanted to find out if you wanted more of the green tea?”
Her heart was expecting a satisfied answer but she was bound to be disappointed.
“No thank you” Liam replied with an aloof tone before attempting to clarify something,” my fiance should be treated with respect, the same respect you accord to me. What happened at the dining table tonight should not repeat itself”
Anastasia was upset but the fear she felt clouded her anger. One misstep could cost her her job so she needed to be careful.
“Sir… I’m really sorry about that. I promise it won’t happen again” She bowed apologetically to Liam who dismissed her with a wave of his hand.
When Anastasia first arrived at the house, she had met just Liam’s mother. Winning her heart wasn’t that hard since she could cook perfectly well. She had prepared a sumptuous meal for her before the arrival of her boss, Liam.
She was greatly fascinated by the gorgeous features of Liam that presented him as god-like. Her heart was jumping for joy, thinking she had gotten an opportunity to steal the heart of a rich and handsome man but her hopes were crushed when he mentioned his fiancee to her. Jealousy brewed up in her heart the moment she met Isabelle. She was a beauty, a beauty she couldn’t compete with, not in this lifetime.
But Anastasia was stubborn and pigheaded, traits that would become the cause of her downfall. She still wanted to swim in her illusion and dreams that would break her. Her persistence led her to spill the hot tea on Isabelle’s arms. She was ready to do anything to have Liam to herself but to what length was she willing to go?…..

The next morning at the gate of the Russo company, Rachael stood with a frosty and unyielding gaze. Her request for a medical leave ended the previous day. Now she was here, not to continue from where she stopped but with a new goal in mind- to bring Damien Russo down.
“Welcome, Miss Rachael” the security man greeted her with radiating energy. “I hope you’re back for good?”
The smile on Rachael’s face made her glow. Of course she was back for good, to put the wretched woman in her place and to show Damien the value of what he had discarded.
“Yes, Mister. Have a nice day” Rachael walked straight to Damien’s office with elegance and a smile on her face as a response to the warm greetings and well wishes from the workers.
She took a deep breath and calmly knocked on the door. She got a response from a female voice she recognized which made her scoff in disgust.
“Good morning, Mr. Russo, Gina” she greeted with a sophisticated smile on her lips that made the two cohorts cringe in what felt like fear. Her smile caused a rupture in their soul but Gina was quick to hide hers.
“Oh! Welcome. My darling Rachael” her tone was sarcastic. “It’s been a while. I hope you’re fully prepared to take up your job as Damien’s assistant. It’s quite hectic, isn’t it?”
Gina wanted nothing more than to get rid of the thorn in her flesh, the lady standing right in front of her.
“Well, I fully prepared and ready to take on any battle that comes my way” Rachael replied with an underlying meaning in her tone. The tension between the two women was suffocating.
Meanwhile, Damien just sat on his chair watching the banter between the two women. His fear was getting insulted while trying to meddle in their affairs. He knew he did wrong pushing Rachael out of his life and replacing her with a greedy woman like Gina. But the benefit he got from Gina was hindering him from doing the right thing. His obsession and hers were in sync. He needed someone who understood his goal, not someone who was only supporting him because she loved him.
Gina’s voice interrupted his thoughts.
“Now that Rachael is back, she should make some coffee for us right?” Gina’s tone was full of mockery.”I mean it’s her job and you haven’t had coffee since she left.
Damien wasn’t thinking straight when he nodded in acknowledgment until he saw the disappointing gaze on Rachael’s face, just before she stumped out of the office. He couldn’t even tell if she was angry. His gaze rested on Gina who was enjoying herself.
“What was that for?” He berated her.” You shouldn’t have done that”
Gina was infuriated by his words.
“What!.. do you intend on picking her over me now she’s back? You can just let me know so I can leave and find someone else to help” Gina began to throw tantrums.
Damien knew he had uttered the wrong words and made an attempt to pacify her.
“I would never choose her over you. I already made my choice so there’s no going back” Damien spoke with a soothing voice as he pulled her into a hug just in time for Rachael to come in holding a tray of coffee.
Gina hugged Damien tightly with the hope of making her jealous, expecting to see a hurtful look on her face but instead, Rachael scoffed in disgust and shrugged her shoulders while placing the tray on Damien’s desk.
“Here’s your coffee. Just the way you like” she stated with a cold tone which stunned the two cohorts.
