LOVED FIFTY NINE

Book:Learning to Love Mr Billionaire Published:2024-9-2

Cade got off the call with Ophelia and knew he had limited time to wrap off what he was doing and get back home to pick her up for shopping. If they were to ask him why he was doing it he could not have a straight answer. He went back to the meeting room and sat down allowing the person who was giving a presentation to get done with it first before interrupting the meeting.
“I have to leave now” he said causing them all to gasp.
“Why?” the youngest on the team asked causing everyone to gasp even louder and throw him a dangerous look.
“Well, I have to meet with my wife” he said causing a swoon-worthy reaction from everyone around.
He was startled by the reaction and managed to get it out of there without feeling awkward about the situation. He signed documents and cleared his schedule for the rest of the day. He was a workaholic so Sue thought of the possibility that he had been swamped out by an alien when he asked her to clear out his schedule for the entire day.
Even if he had a meeting with his wife did he not plan to return to work after the meeting? “What about your meeting with Mr Choi?” Sue asked.
“Cancel that also”
“But he is only in our city for three days and today is the second day” Sue explained wondering what had gotten into him to cancel on a business partner.
“Then reschedule for tomorrow,” Cade said. He was not like that she was making him think of solutions for her instead of using her mind to think about it.
“His schedule tomorrow is packed”
“Who do you work for?” Cade asked surprising her. This was the first time he was asking such an absurd question and she was thrown off balance.
“You sir” she muttered and he nodded.
“And if we want to keep it that way I suggest you find a way for us to meet him tomorrow” Sue had never felt as threatened in her job as she felt then. Was all it took some random woman to change his attitude and character overnight? He had been different since he came from the trip and this was all the confirmation that she needed.
“Okay sir”
“Tomorrow any time works for me. We know Mr Choi very well, we have been working together for years so I am sure he would understand the wife’s situation considering he has a family of his own” Cade explained because he felt he needed to.
“Are you going to be with her till late at night, I mean I could try to reschedule us meeting him at his hotel lobby or the restaurant there” she suggested.
She had been in touch with Mr Choi’s secretary and it had been a headache to get an hour’s meeting with him. She wanted to try her best to put in everything for a few moments later in the evening. It was barely noon and he was already going back home so she assumed he would be done with whatever he had to do before early evening and she could have the meeting rescheduled for then.
“Well if you must know what goes on in my personal life then here you go, I am going now to take my wife shopping” he said trying to lay so much emphasis on the words my wife to make it sound as believable as possible. “After shopping, I am meeting with my father-in-law and it is about the stalker’s text messages as he has decided to help me out” Cade continued.
Sue nodded even though she could not understand the reason why Ophelia had to buy clothes. Her social media posts showed how much shopping she did on their trip so why did she need another shopping trip all of a sudden? Sue felt a bit tight-chested but ignored it. She could not ask him to explain the absurd behaviour to her even though she wanted to. She gulped down the feeling in her throat and nodded. She was being paid to do her boss’s bidding not give him advice on his personal life.
Cade left just in time and got home to meet Ophelia waiting in the living room. “Shall we?” he asked and she nodded standing to her feet.
“So can I at least know why the shopping”
“As I said before I am preparing to resume work as a director on Monday and you know I have to make a statement with my clothes” she said before adding. “These brands should be taking me for promoting their clothes without them asking me to”
“Well instead you could start your own line and make tons of money”
“What?”
“Don’t mind me that just slipped out” Cade said not knowing how she would like the idea of working on something.
“Oh my god, that is just genius. That would be my first implementation as soon as I get promoted to the vice chairman”
“So that would take like what? Three years or more?” he asked wondering why she was pushing off the idea if she thought it was a good one. Her father owned it so she could easily implement it. Or better still she could go solo and own that company and at the same time be a director at her father’s company. It was not something that was strange in the business world anymore.
“No silly, two weeks”
“Wait what?”
“Yeah, I have been a director on paper for years now so I just need to show up at work and the role shall be all mine” she explained.
The idea sounded very strange to Cade, it took him nine months to become a director and another nine to become a CEO. He knew that this might trigger his grandfather to promote him as well. There was no way he would allow his granddaughter-in-law to be above him in terms of rank right?
“Congratulations?” he said in a question form.
“Are you congratulating me or not?”
“Well, congratulations I mean it”
