Alice
I was watching one of my favorite series but my mind was far from it.
Liam had already left for work and I decided to watch my favorite series but my mind kept drifting back to how loving he was and each time, my cheek kept flushing.
The door bell rang suddenly. It was still noon and Liam wouldn’t be back by now, so who was it?. I slowly made my way to the door and pulled it open and there stood, Elizabeth?.
What was she doing here?. I mean she had never visited me. Why do I feel this visit wouldn’t be pleasant.
“Hey, sis,” she greeted, giving me a quick hug. “You look… happy.”
” Hi Liz”, I forced a smile after breaking free from her hug. ” Why is the house quiet”, Her eyes wandered my home as if she owned it.
” Cause I’m the only one in it”, I replied sternly. ” Oh, I see, the beast is out. So you must be so happy he’s out”. ” I mean no more beating and assault.. You know what I mean”, There was clearly mockery in her voice.
Just like I said, she’s not here for any good. Always looking for ways make me feel worthless and get under my skin but now it’s time to prove her wrong.
” Wrong Liz. You know if I was to pick out another husband, I would ignore the option and still choose Liam all over again”, My smile widened.
I blushed hard. ” Liam is the best man ever, he takes care of me , cares for me and most importantly loves him unconditionally. He doesn’t assault me, you wouldn’t believe how hot yesterday was, I had the best night of my life. He was so gentle while handling me and…..”.
“That’s great,” She cuts me off. I detected a hint of something in her eyes. Jealousy. Seriously I wouldn’t lie, it gave me immense joy.
“I have to run an errand, I’ll take my leave now” she said, giving me a quick peck on the cheek.
I watched her leave, and this nagging feeling in the pit of my stomach wouldn’t go away. Something about her visit felt off, but I couldn’t put my finger on it.
Liam
I arrived at my office, ready to dive into the day’s work. My mind kept drifting back to Alice and the tenderness we had shared. It was unsettling how much she was beginning to affect me.
Just as I was about to start a meeting, my secretary buzzed in. “Mr. Turner, your sister-in-law is here to see you.”
I frowned. Elizabeth? What could she possibly want? “Send her in.”
Elizabeth walked in, she has the sky smile on her lips. “Hello, Liam,” she purred, closing the door behind her.
“What do you want, Elizabeth?” I asked, my voice cold and unwelcoming.
She sauntered over to my desk, leaning against it provocatively. “I just wanted to talk,” she said, her voice dripping with false sweetness.
I stood up, putting distance between us. “Make it quick. I have work to do.”
Elizabeth pouted. “You know, Liam, I’ve always admired you. You’re so powerful, so… commanding.”
“Cut the crap, Elizabeth. What are you really here for?” I demanded.
She moved closer, her hand reaching out to touch my arm. “Don’t be like that, Liam. I know you and Alice aren’t… well, let’s just say you’re not exactly the perfect couple.”
“That’s none of your business,” I snapped, stepping back again.
She followed, her fingers trailing down my arm. “It could be, though. You deserve someone who truly appreciates you, someone who can satisfy all your needs.”
I felt a surge of anger. “Get out, Elizabeth. Now.”
Instead of leaving, she pressed herself against me, her hands roaming my chest. “Come on, Liam. We could be so good together. Just give me a chance.”
I grabbed her wrists, forcing her away from me. “I said get out. If you ever try something like this again, I’ll make sure you regret it.”
Her eyes flashed with anger and humiliation. “You’ll regret this, Liam. You could have had me, but you chose that weak little mouse instead.”
“Leave, Elizabeth,” I growled, my patience wearing thin.
She stormed out, slamming the door behind her. I sat down heavily, my mind racing. What was that about?. And what is she up to?. She dares to seduce me?. The effrontery!.
Alice
I tried to distract myself by reading a book, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong. My phone buzzed, and I saw a text from Liam.
“We need to talk when I get home.”
My heart sank. Those words never preceded anything good. I spent the rest of the day in a state of anxiety, waiting for Liam to return.
When he finally walked through the door, I could tell he was on edge. He barely acknowledged me as he headed straight for his room. I followed him, my heart pounding.
“Liam, what’s wrong?” I asked, my voice trembling.
He looked up at me, his expression conflicted. “Elizabeth came to see me today.”
“Elizabeth? Why?” I asked, confused.
“She… she tried to seduce me,” he admitted, his voice hardening. “She said some things, made some accusations about our relationship.”
I felt a wave of anger and betrayal. “What did she say?”
“She implied that you and I aren’t happy, that I deserve better,” he said, looking away.
I took a deep breath, trying to steady myself. “And what did you say?”
“I told her to get out, that if she ever tried something like that again, I’d make her regret it,” he said, meeting my eyes.
Relief flooded through me, but it was tempered by a new worry. “Why would she do that?”
Liam sighed, running a hand through his hair. “She’s jealous, Alice. She wants to take your place as Mrs Turner.” He banged his hand against the table.
” Relax Liam, She wouldn’t be able to achieve that, you would never make her that”, I patted his shoulder softly.
He slowly turned toward me. ” You look so calm Alice, you shouldn’t be, I could decide to turn the tides. I might want to make her the new Mrs. Turner”, His voice was cold.
The words kept resounding in my head, he is playing right?.
Elizabeth
I left Liam’s office, seething with rage. How dare he reject me for that pathetic little mouse? Alice had always been the favored one, the one who got everything she wanted. Well, not this time.
If Liam wouldn’t come to me willingly, I’d have to find another way to get what I wanted. I wasn’t going to let Alice win this time.
As I drove home, I thought about all the ways I could undermine their relationship. Liam might be strong and commanding, but even the strongest man had his weaknesses. And I was determined to find Liam’s.
When I arrived back at the house, I was greeted by my fiance, Derek. He was handsome and successful, but he lacked the raw power and intensity of Liam. He greeted me with a kiss, but I barely registered it.
“How was your day?” he asked, oblivious to my turmoil.
“Fine,” I lied, forcing a smile. “Just busy.”
I spent the evening pretending to be the perfect fiancee, all the while plotting my next move. I wasn’t going to let Alice and Liam get the better of me. I would have my revenge, and I would take what was rightfully mine.
Alice
The next morning, I woke up feeling my blood boiling badly. I knew Elizabeth was a threat but the nerve she had to seduce my husband. Liam was off to work and he wasn’t smiling, his cold demeanor was back. Elizabeth is a bitch but I wasn’t going to sit and let her come between Liam and me.
I dialed her number furiously into my phone and on the first rang she picked it up.
“Alice, what a surprise,” she beamed.
“Cut the crap, Elizabeth. I know what you tried to do yesterday,” I said, my voice shaking with anger.
She cleared her voice briefly. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
” And you would never, may your memory seize to work!”, I cursed at her.
” Alice!!”, She yelled out my name through the phone. ” Don’t call my name with that filthy mouth of yours, you would say you can’t remember going to Liam’s office and tried to seduce him,” I accused .
“So what if I did? It’s not like he’s happy with you.” Their was clearly mockery in her and suddenly I felt a surge of fury. “You don’t know anything about our relationship.”
“Oh, but I do,” she said, leaning in. “I know that he’s just settling for you because he doesn’t have any other options. You’re nothing but a consolation prize, Alice. But when I show him that he can get someone better, someone like me, he won’t have any other choice but to fall in love with me”.
” You wish Elizabeth, Liam loves me and only me and he would never be yours!”, I yelled. Bids of sweat was starting to form on my head, I was scared?.
“We’ll see about that,” she said. “This isn’t over, Alice. Not by a long shot. Watch your back”. The line went dead immediately after that. The nerve of that girl!. She disgusts me!.
” You look so calm Alice, you shouldn’t be, I could decide to turn the tides. I might want to make her the new Mrs. Turner,” Liam’s voice resounded in my head.
” You’re nothing but a consolation prize, Alice. But when I show him that he can get someone better, someone like me, he won’t have any other choice but to fall in love with me,” Elizabeth words followed suit.
Why’s my heart beating so fast, I’m not scared right?. Or should I be scared?.
