Her eyes are wide open.
The words that escaped his lips were like a knife that stabbed her heart. Did she hear him right? Is she dreaming right now? It just… happened all of a sudden.
He chuckles. “And your mother… you think I want to marry her because I love her? Do you think she died because of illness or something? I kill both of your parents!!!”
Those words break her heart. It shattered into pieces. This whole life, she thought she lost her parent by accident and fate. Yet, it all lay and was planned.
“You did…. that?” her breath shaky, her hand trembling.
Frank laughs. This is not him. He starts to lose himself and becomes desperate. Because of his eagerness to get what he wants, he’s going crazy. He is willing to kill someone to get something he wants.
And he wouldn’t let that go to waste.
“I plan all of this. I kill your father… your mother and the reason I keep you is because I thought you wouldn’t dare to get in my way,” he explains.
“But why… why my family…” Melody questioned.
Damian just watching the scene between them. He gazes toward Melody, who is already trembling. He gestures to his men to watch Frank’s men’s movement. Their hands keep on their gun, just ready to shoot on Damian’s orders.
“Because your father got everything I want! He has everything. While I… I try everything and I still can’t be like him…”
“That’s because my father works hard for his family!! He deserves it due to his hard work!! And you!!!” Melody lashes out in her anger, “You take everything away from him!! You take the things he is working on just like that!!”
“Just because of jealousy!? My father loves you! You are his best friend and you did this to him!?”
Frank laughs, “Do you think I care about that? It’s his fault. Why does he believe in me just like that? He knows he should be careful with people around him.”
How can he say that? Her father sees Frank as his brother. Melody clenching her fist, couldn’t deny the anger she felt in her.
“You a selfish man, Frank,” Damian chimed in.
“Me? I just take what I deserve,” he chuckles.
“Deserve? You just snatch it from someone that working for it. You don’t deserve anything in your life. Not even a single bit,”
Damian says, glares at him.
“This power should be mine!”
Matthew scoffs and smirks, “Yeah, keep delusional, old man.”
Frank clenched his jaw.
“YOU FUCK-”
A loud shot fills the room. Frank falls to the ground. Blood came out of him, slowly covering the wooden floor. No one speaks a word. Frank’s men standing there stunned, not knowing what to do.
Their leader is dead.
Lifeless.
Damian frowns and turns his head only to see Melody holding the gun. Her hands were trembling, and tears were dripping off her cheeks. He could see the anger, fear and sad mix in her eyes.
“You… You deserve to be dead…” she says. Her breath is shaky. As if she holding herself from bursts out.
“Did… did she just kill… Frank?” Matthew whispers toward Victor.
“Yes, Mat. Everyone here saw it,” Victor rolls his eyes.
Damian walks towards her but halts abruptly when she points the gun at him. His men quickly point their guns towards Melody. They see her as a threat when she does that.
“Woah, sweetie. Calm down. You are not going to kill us, aren’t you?” Matthew raises his hand, hiding behind Victor.
Melody panting, looking at them with mixed emotion. Her hands trembling so hard, looking at them like they were a threat to her.
“Get away from me!”
“Melody, calm down. We’re not your enemy,” Victor says.
“I… I… I don’t know…” she sniffled. “Just… Just stay away from me…”
She didn’t know what happened. Maybe because of the action she did and the new information she got from her stepfather. Most importantly, she just killed someone, which she never expected she would.
It is because of anger that fills her.
That anger made her react like this.
Damian takes slow steps towards her, “Mel… can you lower the gun please…”
Melody sobbing. She looks at the guards who aiming their guns towards her. Her grip on her gun tightens, and Damian notices that. He looks at his men over his shoulder.
“Lower your gun. Whoever aims it toward her will face my wrath,” he says firmly with no empty threat.
His men quickly did what he asked for. Damian sighs and turns to his wife. “Melody, no one will hurt you. I know you are in… overwhelmed state.”
“I… I-I didn’t m–mean to kill-kill him… I-I just… I-I did that o-out of my anger…” she tried to explain, but her cries made her struggle to speak.
“I know. I know. It’s not your fault. No one will blame you,” Damian finally stands in front of her. The gun she holds touches his chest, “I promise you… no one will hurt you for it.”
His hands reach for the gun. He gently takes the gun from him and hands it to his nearest man.
“Hold it for me,” he demands.
“Yes, sir,” the man nods.
Damian’s grip on her hands didn’t change. He held her hands, looking at her with soft gazes.
“Mel can look at me only…” Damian takes a close step.
Her green doe eyes that fill with tears, stare at his. Somehow, it makes her calm. Damian smiles slightly. He grabs her and pulls her towards his chest. The way he holding her is like he’s holding a precious diamond.
Matthew and Victor smile at each other, knowing their words were right. Meanwhile, their men stare at them, stunned, but some of them are amused. Their boss is holding a woman, known as his wife, so gently.
“I’m here. It’s going to be alright, love,” he whispers in her ear.
Melody sighs deeply, feeling his presence somewhat calm her. Damian looks at his men and gestures to them to handle the rest.
Frank’s men are being held by his men. They will hold them for a moment and give them a chance weather to join the clan or be killed. Matthew and Frank handling Frank’s dead body.
“I… I kill him with my hand…” she speaks after a long pause.
“Yeah, I know,” Damian ran his finger through her long hair.
“Am I… a killer?”
The way she asks it gives a pang in his heart. Damian tightened the hug. He doesn’t want to make her a killer. She is such a delicate and soft girl.
“You are not a killer… you just… did that because of your anger. Beside…” Damian glances at Frank’s dead body, “… he deserves it.”
“He killed my dad… my mom… I could have a happy family if he didn’t do that…” she bursts into tears on his chest.
This is the second time she is in this emotional state. Damian buried his face in her hair. He can’t see her like this.
“Shh, it’s okay. Please, don’t cry. I can’t bear to see that tears of yours…” he says. His tone filled with pleading.
“I can’t….” she cried harder.
“Sweetie, come on! You shoot him right on his chest! That was impressive!!” Matthew chimed in, trying to lighten the mood.
But, it only makes Melody cry harder. Damian and Victor glares at him. He arches his eyebrows in confusion.
“What? I’m telling the truth. She never held a gun before,” he shrugs his shoulder.
Victor smacks his head, “Shut your mouth for a moment before I stuff the bullets in your mouth.”
“Geez, I’m just saying,” he pouts.
Damian sighs, “Don’t listen to him. He just being silly. I know this is too much to take, but… it will fade. You will start to accept it slowly.”
Melody just nods. Her cries start to subside. They stay in that position, with Damian running his finger through her soft, silky hair and Melody burying her face in his chest.
Suddenly,
“Oh, someone makes a chaos in my hotel,”
