Melody rushed downstairs with some luggage. A spark of excitement keeps dancing in her eyes. She couldn’t believe she finally got to go to Thailand. It might be not a vacation but for her, it was.
She saw Damian waiting and leaned on the car. He wearing a simple white top with black slacks. This time, he wearing a sunglasses suit with his jet-black hair.
“I’m done!” she giggles.
“Took you long enough,” he puts his phone in his pocket. His gaze stares at her from head to toe.
She wearing a dress with flower patterns. The dress hugged her curves and laced on the back.
“You delay my time just with one luggage?” Damian arches his eyebrows.
“I’m sorry. This dress is too complicated for me. That’s why,” she chuckles.
“Then, why do you just not wear something simple?” he frowns.
“Because I don’t want to?” Melody shrugs her shoulder.
Damian sighs and shakes his head before gesturing her to put her luggage in the trunks. He gets inside the car and waits for her to get in. The car door shut closed. He could hear Melody humming some random song.
Not going to lie that he could see how excited she was.
Damian sighs and looks at her, “Listen, the reason I bring you along is not because I wanted to, okay? It’s because you threatened me with your words.”
“It’s surprised me that you’re scared of my threat,” she chuckles.
“That…” he paused for a moment as the realization hit him, “I’m not afraid of it I just…”
“Just?”
“Just take safety steps, okay? Enough with the chatting. We should go now,” Damian quickly changes the topic and starts to drive.
Her threat indeed hit him. He doesn’t want his mansion to be burnt down by her. Not only that. He could see the possibility that Melody could destroy his mansion in a second.
Matthew and Victor waiting outside the private jet door. After a moment, they saw a black car park. As soon as two people come out, they exchange looks in confusion. They thought it was only Damian who was coming.
The bodyguards holding the luggage while they walking towards the private jet. Damian looks annoyed while Melody looks excited.
“We didn’t expect Melody to come with,” Victor speaks up.
“I don’t want to talk about it,” Damian grunts.
“Hey, Melody. Long time no see,” Matthew smiles and ruffles her hair.
“Mr. Matthew!” she grins.
He chuckles, “Oh please. Just Matthew. Call us by our name only. No need for the formalities.”
“Sure. I guess I’m too polite,” Melody scratched her head feeling sheepish.
“It’s okay. It’s not a bad thing. That means you are so sweet. A sweet person,” he winks at her.
Damian rolled his eyes as he heard that. Yeah, a sweet person. Not when they are only the two of them.
“Let’s go. I don’t want to waste time anymore,” Damian walks in.
Melody follows them closely. When they stepped inside the private jet, Melody couldn’t help but be stunned. It was his first time to be in the private jet. Her eyes darted to savour this moment.
Everything looks luxurious.
With expensive wine and comfortable-looking seats.
“This private jet is awesome!” she squeals.
Matthew chuckles, “Don’t get too excited, sweetie.”
She takes a seat beside Damian. Her hands pat the soft cushion and sighs in contentment. Damian glanced at her before back to his tab.
“Is this your first time in a private jet?”
“You guess it right,” she giggles.
“I thought every mafia family is rich,” he said, his voice harsh but not in asking of the fight.
“Maybe. But not as rich as you,” Melody nudged him.
Damian hummed. The announcement from the pilot tells them that they will be departing. She getting even more excited knowing she will leave for Thailand. Even better, it’s not a dream.
“Put on your seatbelt,” Damian demands without looking at her.
She quickly put her seatbelt on.
The private jet slowly off the ground and up to the sky. It takes a moment for it to be stable. When she saw Matthew get up from his seat and go to the bar section, it gave her a sign that they could move freely now.
Melody takes off her seatbelt. She looks at Damian who is busy with his work. She got up and went to Matthew.
“What are you doing?” she looks at him over his shoulder.
“Making cocktail,” he answers.
“Cocktail?” she frowns, “Did it taste… good?”
Matthew chuckles and turns to her with a drink in his hand, “You never taste it before?”
“No.”
“How about beer?”
She shakes her head.
“Alcohol? Any drinks that only adults could drink?”
Once again, she shakes her head. It’s not like she doesn’t want to but she never had a chance to. Since she is busy trying to survive in her cruel life, she doesn’t think of trying those things.
“Your life must be boring,” Matthew sighs, shaking his head.
“It does,” Damian chimed in.
Melody glares at him before turning to Matthew back, “I just got no chance to try any of that.”
“Do you want to try it?” he offers.
“Will… I get drunk by drinking it?” she hesitated to ask.
“I see, you are not a fan of drunk people, aren’t you?” Matthew said in amusement. She nods. “Don’t worry, I don’t put any alcohol in it. It’s just a mixed drink.”
Melody looks between him and the drink before deciding to take a sip of it. She holds the glass and takes a sip. The sweet taste touched her tongue. It’s not as bad as she expects.
“Taste great, huh?” he grins.
“Mhm. It tastes sweet,” she comments.
Matthew smiles in pride, “Of course. I’m a great bartender after all.”
“Yeah right,” Victor snickers.
“I’m telling the truth! What is your problem!?” he huffs.
“I don’t know maybe when you made a drink that made me go to the bathroom 5 times!” Victor glares at him, his fingers on the laptop keyboard stop typing.
“Geez, that’s when I was new to making drinks,” Matthew rolls his eyes.
“What about the second time you poison me with your stupid drink!?”
Melody watches them bickering over and over. She knows this fight won’t stop any moment. So, she decides to get back to her seat.
A deep sigh escapes her lips as soon as she sits down. Her attention went to the outside window. White and soft clouds fill her sight. Melody’s mind went to her problem.
She has one problem.
Which is, that she needs to tell Damian about the favour. She needs to ask help from him to take the property of her father that was signed to her by Frank. But, she has to wait for the right moment.
Melody looks at him beside her. Her gaze went to his hands which were covered with black gloves. That’s when she realised. Not even once he didn’t wear gloves. He even wears it to sleep when she sleeps with him at his parent’s house.
“Do you have an OCD problem?” she raised a question.
“I don’t. Why do you ask that question out of a sudden?” Damian questioned with a stoic expression.
“Hmm… I don’t know it just… you always wear gloves,” she bluntly said. His movement halts. “Every time, every day, even when you go to sleep, you wear the gloves.”
There’s a brief pause from him. Damian closed his eyes for a moment before opening it again. He continues doing his work.
“It’s none of your business,”
“I’m just curious. Maybe you don’t like skin contact with anyone,” Melody chuckles, “Well, I understand if you feel that way.”
“Can you shut up? Mind your own business,” he speaks harshly. Not snaps but harsh. Still enough to make Melody affected.
She clears her throat, “I’m sorry…”
There’s an awkward tension. Melody keeps squirming in her seat. In the end, she decides to take a nap. She finds a way to lower her seat before lying comfortably. Melody turns away, giving her back to him.
It’s not like she is upset by his harshness. She just… felt like it. Her eyes closed, trying to get sleep.
