Mrs Gabriella bursts into laughter. She clutched her stomach, laughing so hard. This was the funniest thing she ever heard. Meanwhile, Mr Flavio pinched the bridge of his nose, shaking his head slightly.
“How can you say that to her, Angelo?” he sighs.
“I’m just helping ease her mind,” Damian shrugs his shoulder. As if, what he just did now didn’t bother him at all.
Melody glared at him, clenching her fist. She never felt this much to punch him in the face.
Mrs. Gabriella wipes the tear from the corner of her eyes, “Oh gosh, Melody dear. We’re not some psychopath.”
“I’m sorry, Mrs. Gabriella and Mr. Flavio,” Melody hung her head low.
“No, it’s fine. It’s not your fault. Damian is just being stupid there,” Mr. Flavio smiles reassuringly.
Damian scoffs, and smiles to himself, “It’s worth it,” he mumbles.
“We would never do that. We are much better than Damian,” Mrs Gabriella chuckles. “You could say that we are not like our son.”
“I’m sorry, Mrs. Gabriella. I shouldn’t have believed his words,” she fiddles with her fingers, feeling guilty.
“It’s fine, dear. Damian is just being playful which he never be,” Mrs. Gabriella smirks.
Damian who heard it just rolls his eyes.
“Let’s eat now,” Mrs. Gabriella invites them. Thankfully, they got to prepare the food on time while hearing the explanation from Melody about before.
They went to the dining room. Melody takes a seat beside Damian. She looks around the room and notices that she doesn’t see a single servant.
“This house… don’t have any servant?” she hesitated to question, afraid that it might sound rude.
Mr. Flavio arches his eyebrows, “Oh yes. We didn’t hire any. Since we don’t need them.”
“Besides, I’m more than happy to handle the house by myself,” Mrs Gabriella smiles. She puts down the wine bottle on the table.
“I see….” she nods.
“Come, let’s dig in everyone,” Mrs. Gabriella invites.
Without thinking twice, they start to scoop some food. Except for Melody who seems to hesitate. This is her first time, eating dinner with someone. Usually, she will eat her dinner in her room to prevent her from her step-father and Teresa.
She stared at the food in front of her. Damian who notices it just sighs. He slightly elbows her side causing her to jolt.
“Eat,” he demands firmly.
Melody carefully holds her spoon and scoops some. Soon the food touched her tongue, and she closed her eyes savouring the taste of the deliciousness of the food.
“How was it, my dear?” Mrs. Gabriella questioned.
“It tastes so great!” she grins.
“My recipe would never be a disappointment,” the woman winks at her.
Mr. Flavio scoffs, “Yeah right. Your food is not like this when we first married.”
“That’s because I don’t have any motivation to learn some cooking skills,” his wife rolls her eyes.
“Are you serious? I bought you a lot of cooking books and yet? You just throw it in the bin,” he smirks.
Mrs. Gabriella gives him a short glare before turning to Melody. “So, Melody. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?”
“M-Myself?” Melody was stunned by the sudden question. The woman nods eagerly. “Um… there’s nothing much about myself.”
Melody tries to find some sentences to introduce herself. Her eyes kept moving around as if her surroundings could give her answers.
“Well… I’m Melody Juniver. I’m 20 years old. I live with… my step-father and sister,” she awkwardly speaks.
“Hold on. You said… Juniver?” Mr. Flavio frowns.
“Yes…”
“As if… Juniver Garold?” he asks again. Melody nods again. “You are Juniver’s daughter!?”
“Once again yes,” Melody nods.
“Angelo! Why you didn’t tell me she’s a daughter of Juniver!?” Mr Flavio scolds Damian.
“Well, I don’t expect it to be that important,” Damian shrugs his shoulder, unbothered by the situation.
“What about my father?” she frowns.
“He is one of the great men. I mean… a lot of mafia loves to cooperate with him. He’s the reason why my clan is still standing,” Mr Flavio chuckles. “Without him, I could never handle my clan.”
“He helps a lot of people, dear,” Mrs. Gabriella chimed in.
Melody felt something tugged on her heartstrings. She knows her father is a good man but she didn’t expect to hear it from someone else. Her grip tightened on her spoon.
“Unfortunately, he died before we could do something for him as a thankful gift,” he sighs.
Mrs. Gabriella looks at her, “Dear, I heard your mother married a new man. Is it true?”
“Yes. His name is Frank,” Melody answers softly.
“How is your stepfather treating you? We hope they treat you much better than before,” Mr. Flavio chuckles.
Somehow, Melody was just silent. She didn’t know what to say. Since she doesn’t want to make it sound awkward, she just answers it simply.
“Kind of…”
The old married couple notices the gloomy expression on her. They exchange looks not knowing why. Damian clears his throat to catch their attention.
“Can we talk about something else? I’m getting bored here,” Damian grunts.
“Angelo, you’re never interested in someone’s conversation,” Mr. Flavio scoffs.
After some moments, dinner went smoothly. Melody tried to join in their conversation even though she felt overwhelmed. She doesn’t want to make the dinner in an awkward atmosphere. Besides, those two old married couples treat her so nicely better than Damian did.
The bedroom door opens. Melody follows closely behind him, “You said we going to sleep here tonight?”
“Yes. My mother keeps pushing us to sleep here for a night since it’s late,” Damian answers.
She puts away her bag. She takes off her accessories. Her eyes move slowly towards Damian who unbutton his top. The silky black top fell on the floor revealing his huge and bulky body.
Melody gasped and turned around, “Can’t you change in the bathroom, sir?”
“What? I’m just taking off my top. Don’t act like you’ve never seen a man topless,” he said nonchalantly. Damian lay on the bed with only his pants.
“Even I do, that doesn’t mean I like it,” she sighs.
“Oh please. Don’t lie to me. I know you like to see my sexy tattoos body, right?” he grins.
Melody rolls her eyes and turns to him. “I hate your pride, sir. But you are not my type. I’m sorry.”
“Really? Then, what is your type? Someone who is weak and acts like a hero all the time when he has a lot of women behind him begging to be fuck?” Damian smirks, he lifts himself with his elbow.
She furrows her eyebrows. This old man is too straightforward. Melody went to the other side of the bed, “I didn’t say that my type.”
“Isn’t that what women like? An innocent guy, who helps everyone, smiling so brightly and gentlemen,” he continues.
“Not every woman wants that, sir. Stop expecting that we are all the same,” Melody huffs.
“Can’t help it,” he grins and lays down.
Melody standing at the side of the bed not moving an inch. She didn’t know what to do. There’s no way she will be sleeping in the same bed with this man. She rather sleep on the floor than with him.
“Are you going to stand there like a tree?” Damian questioned with his eyes closed.
“C-Can’t I sleep on the couch instead?” she hesitated to ask.
“What? You afraid that I will do something to you?” he smirks, still not looking at her.
“I-I’m not! What are you thinking of!?” Melody flustered. How can he say that to her?
Damian opens his one eye and looks at her, “I didn’t think anything. What do you think of it? Do you have any dirty mind, sweetie?”
She gritted her teeth, glaring at him. Damian just chuckles and back to his position.
“Calm down. I wouldn’t do anything to you unless you ask for it. Besides, my parents wouldn’t like it if they knew you slept at another place and not on the bed with me,” Damian speaks the fact.
He knows how dramatic is his parents especially his mother, Mrs Gabriella. Melody takes a deep breath as she knows there’s no other way. She climbs on the bed slowly and lies down.
Melody breathed out as she felt the soft mattress under her. Finally, she could rest. All the conversation tiring her out. She turns her head to see Damian with his eyes closed. Her gaze slowly went down to his tattoos.
His tattoos on his neck down to his chest and arms. There must be some on his back since the tattoos crawl to his back.
“Are you done?” his husky and deep voice makes her look away quickly. “Do you think I didn’t know you admiring me?”
“Excuse me?” Melody scoffs.
“Aww, don’t be shy to admit it,” Damian smirks.
“You are so annoying, Mr. Angelo,” she turns to the other side, her back facing him.
Damian smirks in satisfaction. He finally could make Melody feel annoyed with him just like how she made it to him.
