She slowly turned to Draven who was looking upset.
“I’m sorry.” She apologised.
“You have the guts to defy me now?”
“No, I was just so mad, that is my dad’s assistant and I didn’t expect to see him here.” She replied without looking directly at him.
“You didn’t have to become a nuisance, I was having a meeting.”
“I was shocked, okay? Anyone in my shoes would do the same thing.”
“No, anyone in your shoes would be smart enough to walk away.” He said and Xalia rolled her eyes.
“Well, maybe I am not smart, okay? I have been quiet all these while trying to take it all in and it is fucking making me go crazy! I got abandoned by my fiance on my wedding day and in a flash, I found out some dude was waiting for me at the altar and my fiancee was getting married to my step-sister who was already carrying his child! Then this minute my mother was on my side, the next she was not, I got married to a stranger and I found out my father sold me to him, no surprise there but it is all messed up!”
“You are not being fair to me also and the least you can do is be nice, not threaten me and order me around like some animal, and also, I am not a nuisance!” She yelled at him and exhaled.
Tears clouded her eyes but she fought them back, she was really tired of being treated like a child, she was tired of everyone thinking she should just be cool with everything that happened. No one has been fair to her and she has the right to voice out her emotions.
She knew she had just gotten herself into huge trouble with Draven but she cared less, she was ready for any punishment he had for her.
“Go to your room.” Draven said calmly and she remained on the spot.
“You can’t order me around, I am going to my room because I want to and because I really want to cry right now.” She said with a breaking voice and rushed up the stairs. She rushed into her room and slammed the door, she fell on her bed and burst into tears.

THE NEXT DAY
MORNING
Xalia kept sighing as she ate breakfast in her room, she didn’t feel like going out of her room because of what happened last night, now that she thought of it properly, she felt embarrassed she caused a scene.
She told the maids to serve her breakfast in her room, and she is determined to avoid Draven by all means.
She suddenly heard a knock on her door as she gulped down her glass of milk.
“Who is it?” She asked.
“It’s Cassie, Mrs. Wade.” She heard a familiar voice and she knew it was one of the maids, she rolled her eyes and dropped her glass.
“Come in.” She replied and the door opened revealing the maid, she walked in fully and bowed.
“What?”
“Ma’am, Sir Draven demands your presence in the living room now.” She said and Xalia frowned.
“Why?”
“I have no idea, ma’am.” She answered and Xalia nodded, she waved her hand in the air showing a gesture that she should leave and the maid bowed again before walking out.
Xalia feared Draven was ready to punish her because of her outburst yesterday, she hurried with her breakfast and breathed out.
“Okay.” She muttered and walked out of the room, she walked down the stairs and got to the living room to see Draven.
He was sitting on the couch going through a book and a fancy bag was next to him, she held the tip of her dress nervously as she moved closer to him.
“Good morning.” She greeted and he looked up at her.
“Morning, sit.” He ordered and she sat next to him immediately, had dropped the book and picked up the bag, she watched him and thought of what he was up to.
He brought out a black gown and stretched it towards her, she slowly took it and stared at it.
“Do you like it?” He asked and she raised a brow, surprised.
‘Is he really going to let her go after what she did yesterday?’
‘Is he not going to punish her?’
‘Why did he get her a beautiful dress?’
‘Is this part of the punishment?’
Different thoughts ran through her mind as she stared at him.
“What? You don’t like it?” She heard him ask and she snapped out of her thoughts.
“No, I… I love it, it is pretty.” She replied, staring at the dress and Draven nodded. He wasn’t saying anything again and Xalia bit her lip, she decided to ask him since he wasn’t talking about it.
“Hmm, why are you giving me a dress? And why are you acting like everything is cool? Are you not going to punish me for… ”
“I will, but not yet.” He cut her off and she gulped.
“Why though?”
“Your family is in New Jersey, including Kyle and your pregnant step-sister. They would be coming for dinner by 8 pm in here.” He said and Xalia blinked rapidly, she felt scared as she thought about seeing Kyle.
She knows she is supposed to be mad but she is not, all she wants are answers and his apology.
“Will… ”
“Yes, Allison will be here, Henry will also be here.”
“Okay.” She mumbled and breathed out, she could feel tears welling up in her eyes and Draven placed his hand on her hair.
“It’s fine, you are better than them anyway.” He said and she smiled, the tear rolled down and she sniffed.
“Thank you.” She muttered and he ruffled her hair, she giggled as it fell on her face and he withdrew his hand from her.
“I have a rule though.”
“What is it?”
“Don’t talk to Harrison.”
“Why?”
“Talk to him and find out the hard way.”
